Chapter 327: Chapter 325 Restored Memory
On the battlefield, disfigured by the baptism of bombs, the Poker Soldiers were cleaning up the aftermath. A man in a black robe, with a dark expression, fiercely stomped on the ground and said, "Find him, no matter who did it, I will make them pay!"
The Unicorn was emitting a faint white glow, and the Princess sitting atop it covered her mouth and nose, not wanting to smell the stench of gunpowder.
"Little Red Riding Hood, although a Disaster-Level strong being, was so easily slain by an Outsider, leaving not even a corpse behind."
Because she did not sense Little Red Riding Hood’s Qi and it was not easy to leave this place, she prematurely concluded that Little Red Riding Hood had been killed.
The man said sinisterly, "I’m not sure what happened either, but it’s obvious that it was the work of that ’Pervert’ Ranger. I have already given the orders. The entire town is on the hunt for the Pervert, and anyone who finds him has my permission to kill him on sight!"
"Then I hope you can do it quickly, I want to see his body sooner rather than later!"
The Princess said with some sadness. In Fairy Tale Town, Little Red Riding Hood was one of her few friends...
Then she glanced at the man out of the corner of her eye and, seeing that he was still enraged, dismissed her doubts. Although this fellow was helping them in every possible way, she always felt that he had ulterior motives.
After the Princess left, the man’s angry expression became calm, with a hint of mockery at the corner of his mouth.
If Little Red Riding Hood was dead, then she was dead. It meant nothing to him. That anger was solely to appease that ’Princess.’
As long as his plan proceeded smoothly, the more high-level Monsters that died in this town, the better. He never truly cared for those creatures at heart.
However, the ’Royal Family’ of Fairy Tale Town was powerful, so he had no choice but to fake cordial relations with those beings.
"Let them make a fuss, the more spectacular the foreground, the more it will highlight the greatness of the finale," he murmured.
"I am very curious to see the expressions on all of your faces when the change occurs."
...
Tao Wen slowly woke up and, upon seeing Li Dazhuang, his face lit up with joy. Those memories of being a Poker Soldier were the most terrifying of his life.
Then he looked at Wen Wen and exclaimed in surprise, "You are that Pervert!"
"But, thank you for saving us at Furong River Amusement Park, and you must have saved us this time too, thank you."
Wen Wen nodded, then suddenly felt something was wrong and looked at Tao Wen in amazement, "Wait a minute, you know me?"
"Of course I know you, if it weren’t for you at Furong River Amusement Park, we would have died," Tao Wen said as if it were a matter of course.
Wen Wen frowned, it made sense for Li Dazhuang to recover his memory, but it shouldn’t be possible for Tao Wen, a mere ordinary person.
"Could those ’insects’ have caused the Memory Eraser’s effects to fail? It’s also possible, let me try again," he pondered.
Then Wen Wen took out the Memory Eraser, aiming it at Tao Wen’s eyes, he pressed it once, and a burst of light flashed, leaving Tao Wen’s eyes in a brief state of confusion.
"You have never seen me before, this is our first meeting and you will forget me..."
After finishing, Wen Wen looked at Tao Wen expectantly, waiting to see his reaction.
This was his first time using the Memory Eraser, and if Li Dazhuang weren’t watching, Wen Wen might even have considered putting some interesting things into Tao Wen’s mind instead.
But what surprised Wen Wen was that Tao Wen’s memories didn’t seem to have been erased. Rather, that brief moment of confusion looked more like his eyes had been dazzled by the light from the Eraser.
And the way he looked at Wen Wen even had a hint of pity in it—as if being a pervert wasn’t pitiable enough, he still had to be foolish...
"It didn’t work? That shouldn’t be, I’ve read the manual, my method wasn’t wrong... Then, it must be his own issue!"
Noticing Tao Wen, Wen Wen pressed down on his shoulder, channeling his inspiration into Tao Wen’s body, carefully sensing his presence before looking at him with uncertainty and distrust.
"Why is it like this, I’ve never seen someone like you before. What exactly are you now?"
In Wen Wen’s eyes, Tao Wen was neither a superpower user nor a monster, nor a regular human!
His body structure had subtly diverged from that of an ordinary person, yet there was no trace of Supernatural Power, and he did not seem like a monster either.
At most, his strength was a bit greater than an average person’s, his instincts somewhat sharper, but most importantly, he was immune to the effects of the Memory Eraser!
If only Tao Wen was unique, then it would be understandable, but if every person turned into a Poker Soldier became like this, what then was Fairy Tale Town really up to?
"Detective Wen, Tao Wen he..." Seeing Wen Wen’s expression, Li Dazhuang asked with some worry—he didn’t want his friend to be in trouble.
Wen Wen shook his head and said, "It’s fine, at least for now."
He then knocked out Tao Wen, who had just woken up with a chop of his hand. Since Tao Wen was no longer capable of having his memories altered, it was better that he remained unaware of what was to follow.
"What are you doing?" Li Dazhuang was stunned, asking Wen Wen in confusion.
Wen Wen looked at Li Dazhuang seriously and said, "Da Zhuang, our following conversation is very important, and you must not reveal it to anyone!"
Li Dazhuang swallowed nervously and nodded slowly.
"Do you trust me?" Wen Wen asked, each word weighed with significance.
"Of course I trust you. If it weren’t for you saving me so many times, I probably would’ve died in some corner long ago," Li Dazhuang answered Wen Wen without hesitation.
Although Wen Wen seemed somewhat scary and perverse, after saving Li Dazhuang multiple times, he had become the person Li Dazhuang trusted the most.
A life-saving grace is immeasurable, and even more so when it happened multiple times.
As long as it did not require him, Li Dazhuang, to die, he was willing to repay Wen Wen in any way he could.
Wen Wen narrowed his eyes and then asked gently, "Since you trust me, then a lot of things will be easier to handle. I am a member of an organization, and I would like to recommend you to join it. Would you be willing?"
Indeed, Wen Wen was planning to recruit Li Dazhuang to the Sanctuary right then and there; he had to have control over Li Dazhuang’s abilities himself.
Li Dazhuang thought for a few seconds, then nodded and said, "I trust you wouldn’t harm me, so I’ll join, but what is your organization about...?"
"Identifying threats, containing threats, controlling threats, maintaining the balance between the Inner and Outer Worlds, to put it bluntly, dealing with these monsters!" Wen Wen smiled even more amicably, but he was attentively observing Li Dazhuang’s expression.
If Li Dazhuang had even the slightest inclination to refuse, then Wen Wen would immediately change his tune and say that his organization was the Hunters Association, keeping his explanation vague enough that Li Dazhuang wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
If Li Dazhuang agreed to join, then Wen Wen would directly have him join the Sanctuary.
