Chapter 314: Chapter 312: The Princess and the Unicorn
Li Dazhuang and Tao Wen, both clad in comical poker uniforms, patrolled through Fairy Tale Town.
Previously, they had merely been attendants at an amusement facility, but now they served as bona fide guards of the town.
They couldn’t remember what had happened before, only that they were Poker Guards, just like the dozens of other young men in the town.
"Please, let me go, I don’t want to play house in this damned town anymore," a man at the town entrance pleaded with the guard clad in iron armor.
He and his wife had dropped their child off at tutoring before coming here for a visit, planning to return in the afternoon to pick up their child, but they had ended up trapped here for several days.
"You are a resident of Fairy Tale Town. Without the mayor’s orders, you are not allowed to leave," the iron-clad guard stated rigidly.
"It’s been five days, always the same sentence, let’s see what you can do to me!" The man glared and shoved the iron-clad guard hard, causing the guard’s helmet to fall off.
Inside—there was no head!
"It... it wasn’t me."
Shivering, the man stepped back a few paces. Although he had been controlled within the town for days, he had never realized that those controlling him were not human!
He was quickly subdued by several iron-clad guards and forced to kneel on the ground, unable to move.
The headless iron-clad guard fumbled around, found his helmet, and put it back on. Afterwards, his eyes emitted a terrifying red glow.
It drew a longsword, about to cleave down towards the man’s head, but just as the blade nearly touched the head, it withdrew the sword.
Then it, along with all the iron-clad guards around, knelt on one knee.
A warm white light appeared, and a beautiful woman wearing princess garments, riding a unicorn glowing with white light, elegantly arrived at the town entrance.
Whether the unicorn or the princess, despite merely appearing to be actors and props of Fairy Tale Town, no one would doubt their identity now.
Under the holy light of the unicorn, the man’s frightened heart was instantly soothed, and he felt he had been liberated.
"What is going on here?" the princess said softly, her voice clearer and more melodious than that of an oriole.
The iron-clad guard spoke gruffly, "Your Highness, this lowly man wanted to escape."
The princess gracefully dismounted from the unicorn, walked over to the man, and gently asked, "Why do you want to leave? Is there something we haven’t done well, or do you not wish to live with us...?"
After thinking for a moment, the man realized that aside from not allowing them to leave the town, these strange beings indeed hadn’t done anything too egregious, even satisfying many of his requests.
Whether it was wealth, gourmet food, or beautiful women...
So, he quietly said, "It’s not that you haven’t done well, it’s just that my child is still outside..."
The princess took a step back, her tone cooling slightly, "That is to say, your desire to leave has nothing to do with us; it’s all your own issue."
The man hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Yes, please let me go, I won’t give..."
"Since you don’t wish to stay here, I will not keep you any longer. You can leave now," the princess’s friendly expression completely vanished, showing an attitude of utter detachment.
Upon hearing these words from the princess, the man was overjoyed. After thanking her, he ran towards the town entrance.
He had obtained two ingots of gold here, and as soon as he got out, he could...
Pfft...
The man’s thoughts halted as he blankly stared at his chest, realizing it had been pierced by a glowing unicorn horn.
This was the unicorn’s horn!
After the unicorn had impaled the man, its mane was dyed red with blood as it joyously galloped away.
Its nature had been suppressed for too long, it only favored pure maidens, as for other humans, it was better they disappeared.
But the unicorn’s running quickly ceased, and it trotted to hide behind a woman, its shimmering silver eyes timidly watching ahead.
A figure in a black robe emerged from the darkness and dissatisfiedly said to the "princess," "You promised me you wouldn’t kill anyone here."
The princess moved closer to the figure, placed her hand on his shoulder, and blinked, "What we agreed was not to kill the townsfolk, but he didn’t seem to like that identity and insisted on leaving."
The robed figure was silent for a while and then said, "Let this not happen again!"
The princess giggled lightly, "You have no right to demand anything of us, as long as it’s what we agreed upon, we will not break that agreement, but you have no control over matters beyond that!"
Her face momentarily seemed to wither, covered with scars and wrinkles, and a terrifying black liquid flowed out from her eyes, nose, and mouth.
But the vision disappeared in an instant, and she reverted to the stunning princess, mounting a unicorns whose mane was red, slowly distancing herself.
As she left, she complained to the unicorn, "Couldn’t you just trample him? I still have to clean your fur now..."
Watching the princess’s back, the robed figure sighed and said, "Why can’t we just get along harmoniously? This is not what I wanted to see..."
...
"Fairy Tale Town is just ahead, and there’s only one entrance. You can do whatever you want; I won’t interfere, just don’t interfere with me." Wen Wen unsympatheticaly kicked Sifumo out of the vehicle.
Watching Wen Wen’s car disappear from sight, Sifumo gave a wry smile; he and Wen Wen really didn’t mesh well.
Then, looking towards the entrance of Fairy Tale Town, he muttered, "So for now, the goal is to not get lost here..."
After getting some distance from Sifumo, Wen Wen returned to the Catastrophe Containment Facility; being with Sifumo all this time made certain things inconvenient.
Sifumo was a very competent Demon Hunter, but being so competent that he could deduce Wen Wen’s thoughts from his actions made Wen Wen somewhat annoyed.
For someone like Wen Wen, the last thing he could tolerate was having someone smarter than himself around, directing him.
Moreover, his plans differed from Sifumo’s; Sifumo could only perform minor tricks, cautiously exploring the area.
But Wen Wen was different; he had many ways to know the situations inside Fairy Tale Town, none of which he wanted Sifumo to know.
So, he pretended that he and Sifumo didn’t get along and found an excuse to work alone.
And he wasn’t worried at all about Sifumo possibly getting into trouble without him around, although they hadn’t known each other for long, and Wen Wen found him quite annoying.
But Wen Wen had to admit, if there were no Sanctuary, this guy would far exceed his own capabilities!
