Chapter 311: Chapter 309 Fairy Tale Town

Jiao Xinlei said in surprise, "I thought you’d listen to its conditions."

Song Ling smiled, and the frosty Qi that clung to him vanished completely.

"All it wanted was to use that egg to bargain for its life, but even if it doesn’t die by my hand, that egg will still hatch, just a few days later at most."

"The later it hatches, the harder it will be to pinpoint its location, so it’s better to make it hatch while you’re here, so we can take care of it all at once."

After a simple explanation, Song Ling said to Jiao Xinlei, "As soon as the mother dies, the offspring will immediately begin to hatch and will grow into an adult within a few days. By then, I need you to extract it at the greatest speed, before it gains the ability to lay eggs. Therefore, I’d like you to stay in Songtao City for a while longer."

Jiao Xinlei stretched lazily; she was more than happy to stay here for a few extra days rather than returning to Furong River City where Lin Zheyuan would use her like a pack mule, assigning tasks left and right.

As the monster’s offspring wouldn’t cause any trouble for a short time, Jiao Xinlei intended to seize this opportunity to have some fun.

She returned to the guest room arranged by Song Ling, changed into a white dress that had been prepared in advance, donned a white veil hat, grabbed a delicate purse, and prepared to go out and enjoy herself.

Fairy Tale Town was on the edge of Songtao City and was initially just an ordinary small town, but three years ago, when Songtao City began to develop tourism, they started a full-scale transformation of this little town.

Stepping through the gates of Fairy Tale Town, Jiao Xinlei felt as though she had entered another world, where the architectural style was just like that depicted in fairy tale books.

White ponies ambled leisurely along the roadside, not the least afraid of people, while dwarves with big beards worked diligently, and beautiful young women dressed as princesses interacted with the children visiting the town.

Most of the visitors in the town were affectionate couples or parents taking their children out for fun, with few single men to be seen.

The atmosphere here made Jiao Xinlei relax immediately.

And dressed in her white dress, she became a scenic highlight of Fairy Tale Town, attracting many envious glances from women.

These glances were not due to her appearance, but because she could wear a summery dress in this deep autumn season.

Naturally, Jiao Xinlei also noticed these looks and proudly held her head high; as a superpower user, she didn’t fear the cold to this degree.

Right now, she was the coolest in this place!

Suddenly, among this harmonious scene, Jiao Xinlei spotted two incongruous figures.

They were two Poker Soldiers guarding the doorway of a house, dressed in stiff poker-like suits, standing dutifully at the entrance.

Despite their comical hats and thick makeup, it was clear they were Tao Wen and Li Dazhuang.

Having encountered them twice already, she felt it was meant to be, and after hesitating for a moment, Jiao Xinlei decided to warn them—she might be able to help them avoid disaster.

"What a coincidence, aren’t you here for fun? Why have you become actors here, did you run out of money and have to work here?"

She planned to get chummy with the two first; after all, if she directly approached someone saying their brow was dark and misfortune might befall them soon, she might be chased away as a lunatic.

Li Dazhuang glanced at Jiao Xinlei, his face showing confusion, and said, "Miss, this is the Magical Chess Room. If you want to enter and experience it, please go register."

They... don’t remember me?

Jiao Xinlei was so annoyed her teeth itched—she considered herself quite youthful and attractive, and during their bus ride, these two had been right next to her. Did they really have no impression of her at all?

No wonder these two men came out to have fun; as it turns out...

However, she instinctively activated her power to check on their condition, but as soon as she did, Jiao Xinlei shuddered.

Li Dazhuang and his companion’s conditions seemed quite similar to when they were on the vehicle, but they appeared to be bewitched by something.

What shocked Jiao Xinlei wasn’t the two of them, but the other people of Fairy Tale Town that she glimpsed out of the corner of her eye.

Whether staff, tourists, or actors, every living thing here had their heads wrapped in a thick black Qi that couldn’t dissipate!

All of them would die in a short time!

A massive disaster was about to strike here!

Jiao Xinlei suddenly stepped back two steps, as if tripping over something; it was a mirror.

She instinctively looked at her reflection and saw her complexion was ashen, as if filled with the aura of death.

Moreover, behind her, there were several witch-like figures reaching out their bony, skeletal claws towards her!

"This place isn’t Fairy Tale Town; this is Hell!"

A chill went straight to her head, and without hesitation, Jiao Xinlei turned around. She didn’t dare stay any longer and intended to inform the Songtao City Hunters Association that something significant might happen here!

She had analyzed her abilities and knew that even the deaths she had already witnessed could possibly be altered if she intervened with Supernatural Power.

So, if she could make the Songtao City Hunters Association aware in time, the situation might still be altered...

However, she didn’t notice that as she hurried away, a dwarf who was cleaning showed her a sinister smile.

...

"Where... Where am I?"

Jiao Xinlei opened her eyes and realized that everything she saw was upside down... No, she had been hung upside down!

She remembered running while calling Song Ling to warn her, but she lost consciousness before she could get out of Fairy Tale Town.

"You’ve finally woken up. The ladies were a bit rough; it took you a whole day to come to. I’ve apologized on their behalf."

A crisp male voice came from behind Jiao Xinlei; she could only hear it but couldn’t see the speaker.

"I don’t know anything, can you let me go..."

Jiao Xinlei sobbed and struggled; however, the more she struggled, the tighter the rope became. Her fingers moved slightly, but after several twists, nothing changed.

"Madam, please don’t try to use Superpower. In your current state, you cannot use your abilities," the person behind her consoled Jiao Xinlei.

Seeing that crying was futile and her superpower had been sealed, Jiao Xinlei immediately stopped her feigned tears; she was no longer the woman who would panic at anything.

"What’s your purpose? What do you want to do to this town?"

"What I want to do to this town... Miss, you really misunderstand me. I won’t do anything to this place, the only ones who will destroy it are you, isn’t that right, Demon Hunter miss?" the man said after a pause.

"You’re lying!" Jiao Xinlei spat out.

"Whatever you say is fine. Please, stay here for a few more days. My experiment is about to succeed. I won’t let you disrupt it. As long as you don’t try to escape, I won’t harm you. But if you try to destroy it—I will kill you!"
