Chapter 251: Chapter 249 This is the Sword
After sending Yuan Zhi away, Wen Wen flew directly to the source of the light, right in front of the church door.
He really wanted to see what it was that had turned the whole town’s people into this twisted state.
Having landed, Wen Wen shouted, "You’re here for me, aren’t you? Well, I’m here now, come out!"
The opponent’s purpose was quite obvious; Yuan Zhi was just an ordinary person. If they truly wanted to target him, he wouldn’t have lived to see Wen Wen.
It seemed like the omnipresent townsfolk hadn’t followed him to the church. Instead, they simply stood in place, praying in this direction.
They believed that the church could wash away all sins, and since Wen Wen had come here on his own, they felt there was no need to do anything else.
After waiting a while, Wen Wen heard footsteps behind him.
Turning around, he saw a bulky man over two meters tall and one meter wide, with a small head and thin legs, his body shaped almost like a spindle, approaching him.
This strong man wore a classical full suit of armor that gleamed with silver light, but because of his overly burly figure, there were many gaps in the armor, which to Wen Wen seemed like weaknesses everywhere.
From his aura, it seemed he possessed the strength of the Mastery Realm, but Wen Wen wondered what would happen in a real fight.
The burly man said in a deep, resonant voice, "Demon Hunter, do you know Yan Xiu?"
"I do."
Wen Wen casually replied, then with a raised eyebrow, thought that delivering a message to Yan Xiu really did bring some trouble, although it was within expectations.
If there had been no trouble at all, Yan Xiu wouldn’t have bothered to hire him, a Demon Hunter, to deliver a message.
"Then it’s as I suspected—you have something that belongs to our Glory Church. Hand it over, and you’re free to leave."
"Heh, in your dreams!"
Wen Wen’s face was full of obvious mockery. When he was still an ordinary person, he had successfully stolen from the Glory Church; naturally, he held no awe for them.
The strong man drew a giant sword almost the same model as the one Wen Wen used in his Philosophical State and slammed it into the ground.
"Demon Hunter, don’t force us to take harsher measures. You have no idea of the consequences of angering us," he said.
Wen Wen scratched his head, walked up to the strong man, and in the face of his angry gaze, poked through the gaps in his armor at his soft belly.
"Tsk, what’s this getup for, playing cosplay?"
"The bishop was right; you Demon Hunters are all faithless trash!" the strong man’s face darkened as he fastened his helmet and raised his giant sword high.
"Wait, Deacon Pang, calm down. We’re still not certain if the item is in his possession," another man in a white robe, skinny and short, jogged over, trying to prevent the confrontation.
But it was too late; the strong man brought his giant sword down on Wen Wen who simply stepped aside with ease, dodging the straightforward strike.
Then Wen Wen placed his hand on the giant sword, grinning at the strong man, "So your last name is Pang... quite fitting for your physique."
The strong man tried to lift his sword to continue the assault but found that Wen Wen’s hand seemed to be cast from steel; he simply couldn’t move the sword!
The Golden Eagle Physique already greatly enhanced the strength of his hands, and with the boost from the Catastrophe Gloves, his strength was totally beyond what the strong man could contend with.
Wen Wen paid no attention to the burly man, and turning his head towards the shorter man, he asked, "You seem like a sensible person. Can you tell me what’s going on? I thought Glory Church had a good relationship with our Hunter Association."
The shorter man bowed to Wen Wen and apologized, saying, "My name is Liu Shang, and he is Pang Peng. We are both deacons of Glory Church in Southern Xiangnan Province. The bishop entrusted us to find an item, which might be in your possession, hence today’s actions. Please forgive us."
"I don’t have what you’re looking for, so are you done questioning me?" Wen Wen replied.
"Whether you have it or not, we’ll only know after we check. Let go of my sword!"
Pang Peng released his greatsword and then threw a punch at Wen Wen’s face, but Wen Wen simply tilted his head and dodged it, his expression cooling in the process.
He grabbed Pang Peng’s arm and, with a shoulder throw, slammed him onto the ground before stepping forward and kicking Pang Peng’s stomach as if he were kicking a soccer ball.
Wen Wen’s foot sank into his soft belly, then bounced back, sending Pang Peng flying over a dozen meters.
After landing, Pang Peng quickly got back on his feet, unharmed by the kick. He yelled to Liu Shang, "What are you dawdling for? Get in there!"
Liu Shang sighed. Pang Peng’s parents were attacked by monsters when he was seven years old and were turned into monsters.
Although they needed to attack humans to satisfy their physiological needs, they never laid a hand on Pang Peng, instead, they protected him all along.
However, in the end, his parents were killed by a Demon Hunter, and he was adopted by the local church. From that time, he harbored hatred for Demon Hunters and often took things to extremes.
If Liu Shang had a choice, he would definitely not want to clash with Wen Wen, but due to the success of Pang Peng’s experiment in Spectrum Town, he was favored more by the bishop.
This led to the situation where, even though both men held the same position, he had to follow Pang Peng’s orders.
Chanting a few words under his breath, Liu Shang formed a ball of light in his hand, and with a point at Wen Wen, the light ball turned into a column that shot towards him.
Wen Wen squinted his eyes, holding his hand out to block the light column composed of pure energy, which was then completely absorbed by the Catastrophe Gloves.
Liu Shang’s eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Wen Wen. He could continually direct the light column, so why did the energy disappear the moment it touched Wen Wen?
Looking at the shocked Liu Shang and Pang Peng, who had just gotten up and picked up his sword again, Wen Wen sighed.
Both were nearly at the bottom of the Mastery Realm, and it was clear that they lacked combat experience. He wondered who had given them the confidence to attack an experienced Demon Hunter with just the two of them.
Well, in their intelligence briefing, Wen Wen was just a rookie Hunter of a few months...
"Such a battle is of no interest to me... so let’s end it like this."
Wen Wen tapped on his wrist twice, deactivating his Golden Eagle Physique. Now, he was not using any monster physique, but was relying entirely on his own strength to fight!
"A fight is only exciting when it’s an even match. I’ve gone this far to accommodate you. The least you two could do is make it entertaining for me!"
With that, Wen Wen, wearing a perverted smile on his face, charged at Pang Peng, who swung his greatsword at Wen Wen.
Though Wen Wen’s speed had slowed compared to before, he was still incredibly agile. Pang Peng could only smash gaping holes in the ground, but couldn’t touch Wen Wen at all.
"A sword is not a hammer or a Wolf Fang Club—it’s meant to kill, not to smash. What you’re about to see is true swordsmanship!"
Wen Wen stepped back and drew the short sword, complete with its ornate sheath, from his waist, then aimed the sheath in Pang Peng’s direction.
Pang Peng, sensing a crisis, placed his greatsword across his chest.
Then, Wen Wen drew the short sword, and sharp Sword Qi burst forth from the sheath!
