Catastrophe Containment Facility -
Chapter 217 - 215 Disaster Area Open
Chapter 217: Chapter 215 Disaster Area Open
Wen Wen currently had the following materials in his possession: a longhorn obtained from Gong Baoding’s room, more than a dozen beads acquired from absorbing ghosts, and from Feng Ruixing’s room, a copper wristband, a beetle specimen, and a pure white scarf.
These were the items he could use for his work. Although he lacked experience, if he failed, he would simply try again after a setback. Should he succeed, he would gain a new supernatural weapon.
Anyway, without doing this, these materials were of no value to Wen Wen.
Next, Wen Wen enthusiastically began the crafting process.
After several days of effort, Wen Wen finally created four usable supernatural items.
It wasn’t that his craftsmanship was particularly exquisite, but rather that these items were inherently supernatural. Wen Wen had merely activated them.
With Wen Wen’s modifications and the enhancement of Catastrophe Level strength, these items could not compare to their immense power from a thousand years ago, but they could still be considered usable supernatural weapons.
The longhorn was hollowed out by Wen Wen, with several holes drilled into it, crafting a peculiar musical instrument. Since Wen Wen drilled holes according to his mood, it was an achievement that the instrument could produce any sound at all, let alone be in tune.
However, once played with Supernatural Power, the longhorn would emit an intolerable noise, comparable to a sonic attack, enough to cause ordinary people to faint and superpower users to experience tinnitus.
There were downsides though, notably that it did not distinguish between friend and foe...
The ability of the white scarf was invisibility; whatever it covered would vanish from sight. If it were larger, it could be used to make an invisibility cloak, but unfortunately, it was only the size of a headscarf.
The beetle specimen was extremely tough and its mouth harbored potent toxins. Even Wen Wen could not destroy it unless he was in his Calamity Prison Warden form.
With Wen Wen’s refining, the beetle could be used as a puppet. Among the four supernatural weapons, this beetle was Wen Wen’s favorite.
The crafting of the last item, the brass wristband, required some ingenuity from Wen Wen. He threaded the beads, formed from the resentful spirits, onto the wristband.
Originally, this wristband could control an invisible air figure to perform various tasks, but it had no offensive capabilities.
Now, however, this figure possessed the strength of over a dozen resentful spirits.
These four items took Wen Wen several days to create. Had they not been inherently supernatural, Wen Wen wouldn’t have been able to make even one.
After completing everything, Wen Wen was about to take it easy for a while when the entire Sanctuary began to tremble.
"What’s going on, an earthquake?"
Black energy flowed across the rooftop, and the breath of calamity engulfed the entire Sanctuary. All monsters instinctively prostrated themselves, not daring to raise their heads.
But the corners of Wen Wen’s mouth crazily curled upwards. He knew that the long-awaited Disaster Area had finally opened!
...
Ascending automatically, Wen Wen reached the Calamity Central Zone.
The overseer here was a huge tadpole composed entirely of water. Upon closer inspection, one could see that this water tadpole was made up of countless small water tadpoles.
Well...
Wen Wen chose to think of it as a tadpole because if it were something else, it might seem a bit inappropriate.
The space in the Calamity Central Zone seemed even larger than the Disaster Area.
"The higher you go, the larger the volume, so the Catastrophe Containment Facility is probably an inverted conical structure... or it’s underground."
Apart from being larger, there was no difference between the Calamity Central Zone and the Disaster Central Area, and this time Wen Wen did not obtain any new position.
However, the three positions Wen Wen originally held had all advanced to their next stage.
This advancement first manifested in the clothing. The silver trim on the Disaster Containment Officer uniform, which he had just changed into a few days before, turned to gold trim. Now it should probably be called the Disaster Containment Officer uniform.
Wen Wen gave it a light tug and noticed that the fabric’s toughness had increased significantly.
After some thought, Wen Wen took out an ordinary pistol and shot himself in the arm.
Indeed, Wen Wen was the kind of man who could silently shoot himself without making a sound.
Following a loud bang, the bullet flattened upon hitting his arm and clattered to the floor, ringing crisply.
"Hmm, I didn’t feel a significant impact, let’s try the Demon Hunting Bullet," he mused.
Another loud bang later, the silvery bullet fell to the ground, and Wen Wen was hopping around, clutching his arm.
"Am I stupid or what? I should have tested this on a monster wearing the clothing!"
After the brief pain subsided, Wen Wen looked at his arm. There wasn’t even a wrinkle on his clothing, but he did feel a trace of pain from the bullet’s impact.
However, this degree of protection was enough to pleasantly surprise Wen Wen, and he grinned widely.
"This clothing can actually stop bullets. There’s a movie called Bulletproof Monk. I guess now I’m the bulletproof... no, the bulletproof hunk!"
Apart from the clothing, Wen Wen’s job promotion from Disaster Containment Officer to Calamity Containment Officer once again enhanced his authority within the Sanctuary.
But to Wen Wen, this didn’t mean much since he already had terrifyingly high access under the Catastrophe Prison Warden status.
However, the changes to his Containment Officer pendant genuinely surprised him.
When energy was input into the pendant, a topographical map within a fifty-meter radius would appear, marking all persons or items with supernatural power and displaying them in different colors based on the intensity of their energy.
This topographical map was only visible to Wen Wen himself. Even if someone had extremely high intuition, they would only see a blurry image at best.
With this tool, Wen Wen now had many more options when facing complex situations in the future.
"Calamity level is already so impressive. I wonder what the pendant will become after reaching Catastrophe level," he pondered.
After the position of Containment Officer comes the role of Warehouse Supervisor. Wen Wen’s current title had evolved into Disaster Area Containment Warehouse Supervisor.
His authority hadn’t increased by much; it only allowed him to rearrange the rooms for Containment Items and alter their containment methods.
But like the Containment Officer pendant, the abilities of his badge had also been upgraded. Now, activating the Supervisor Badge, a colorless shield that clung to his skin would appear.
The shield wasn’t very strong—it could block bullets, but it wasn’t as durable as Wen Wen’s clothing.
The main ability of the shield wasn’t bulletproofing, but rather to block external influences on Wen Wen’s psyche.
Forbidden murmurs, profane imagery, or even direct psychic interference wouldn’t penetrate the shield unless Wen Wen faced extraordinary mental influences, such as gazing at an Evil God directly.
Lastly, he had graduated from Catastrophe Prison Warden to Calamity Prison Supervisor.
As a Calamity Prison Supervisor, Wen Wen’s control over the Sanctuary had increased even more. Now, he could perceive everything within the Sanctuary without having to physically enter it.
Moreover, Wen Wen could now promote other Containment Officers and prison guards! For example, he could instantly upgrade Gong Baoding to Disaster Containment Officer.
Nevertheless, Wen Wen planned to wait until Gong Baoding had achieved some meritorious deed before giving him the promotion.
Then Wen Wen placed his hand on the collar and entered the Catastrophe-level state, now called the Calamity Prison Supervisor status.
His black robe continued to burn like flames, but the burning was much less extensive and quieter, making it appear far less menacing than before.
But that didn’t mean his power had decreased. On the contrary, Wen Wen could clearly sense that he had grown much stronger than before.
If using this power before was like a primary schooler operating a Gatling gun, now it was like a high schooler at the controls.
Even though the weapon was the same, the effects it produced were completely different.
