Chapter 179: Chapter 177: Surprising Changes

"Phew... Let’s see if I can get these guys into the Sanctuary. With so many monsters here, I can replenish my stock."

However, Wen Wen was only prepared to try capturing them for now. As for using their constitutions, he wouldn’t consider it, at least not before confirming it was safe.

When he had tested the Curly-haired Baboon constitution before, it had significantly reduced his intelligence.

Such monsters, with no features other than being twisted and nauseating, could also end up twisting Wen Wen himself. It would be hilarious if he transformed and became capable of having children.

The previous monsters had been tortured into pieces. Wen Wen randomly chose a lucky monster roaming the streets, and black chains, like countless venomous snakes baring their fangs, violently shot out.

Having entered a Critical State before, the chains were no longer slow; instead, they moved at incredible speed.

Dealing with these minor monsters, which only had strong regenerative abilities, was incredibly easy.

The little monster hadn’t even reacted before it was firmly bound by the black chains, unable to move its fingers, and was directly dragged in front of Wen Wen.

It struggled violently, but to no avail. With a thought, Wen Wen was about to pull this little monster into the Sanctuary.

But what he hadn’t anticipated happened; only the bizarre energy within the little monster was absorbed!

And its body was completely ignored by the Sanctuary!

The corrupt green energy that fueled the little monster’s movements was quickly absorbed into the Catastrophe Gloves.

Then, the drained little monster’s body simply collapsed!

The various substances comprising its body rapidly reverted to their original state, and flesh and miscellaneous debris fell to the ground, causing Wen Wen to feel somewhat nauseated.

But, nauseating as it was, Wen Wen’s eyes gradually brightened. Could the energy inside this monster’s body be absorbed by the Sanctuary?

If that was the case, these monsters were more than just monsters to Wen Wen.

They were treasures!

Especially since, after having hunted down most of the Ghosts in Furong River City, it had been a long time since he had replenished this exotic energy!

"Hmm... In that case, I can’t let go of the monsters I encounter while searching for the source."

"Although it will take some time, the others are also searching for the source. By reducing the number of monsters here, I’m also helping them relieve pressure."

Having made up his mind, Wen Wen leaped onto the roof of a villa, scanning his surroundings for new victims.

Suddenly, the rooftop shattered, tiles flying everywhere.

A large hand covered in black hair reached out from the broken spot, grasped Wen Wen’s foot, and pulled him directly into the villa.

This monster, nearly three meters tall with green skin and pitch-black hair, had bulging muscles and a disproportionate physique resembling that of a gorilla.

After pulling Wen Wen into the villa, the monster dragged him like a rag doll, smashing him on the floor left and right until the floor tiles shattered, then it finally lifted him up, looking at him.

Wen Wen’s clothing was slightly disheveled, and he folded his arms in front of his chest, sighing.

"This is what you brought upon yourself, the next lucky one is you."

The monster shuddered. Even though it was the Hunter and he was the prey, why did it feel somewhat apprehensive now?

It was as if something dangerous had targeted it.

Wen Wen’s complexion quickly turned pale, dark veins bulging around his eyes, and sharp fangs grew from his mouth.

An immensely bloody and terrifying aura emanated from him, like a bloodthirsty demon-god!

In this corrupted district, there was no normal sunlight, which meant that Wen Wen could maintain his vampire state on the streets at all times!

The hunt had already begun!

...

After exiting the villa, Wen Wen began his journey of hunting from one villa to another.

He captured every monster he saw, hardly ever making mistakes or letting any slip by.

These monsters were not inherently powerful, but their robust life force and nearly undead nature made them difficult to deal with, yet Wen Wen could kill them easily, thus his efficiency was incredibly high.

Here, monsters with Disaster Level baseline strength were abundant, and those with Calamity Level strength were even more common, undoubtedly providing Wen Wen with the best hunting grounds.

The energy intensity of these monsters was much stronger than that of ghosts, so as the hunt progressed, the black part of the left-hand glove expanded rapidly and began to almost match the coverage area of the right-hand glove initially.

On the five fingers and the wrist, floating golden powder started to appear.

It was clear that as long as Wen Wen continued his hunt, this golden powder could take shape and form new golden rings.

These rings, whether they had new abilities or were the same as those on the right hand, were a combination of abilities and constitution that greatly enhanced Wen Wen’s strength.

Although mainly hunting, Wen Wen didn’t forget his mission to find the source of the corruption.

Since the source was not necessarily in any specific place, and the green fog inside greatly affected the perception ability, the only way to find it was to test one by one.

Whenever Wen Wen came to a villa, he would capture all the monsters inside, thus also investigating the source by another method.

However, even with his vampire constitution, Wen Wen’s body and spirit were not made of iron; after capturing the monsters in five or six villas, he felt somewhat exhausted.

He now needed to find a place to rest briefly and recover some energy.

Feeding on blood could allow him to recover quickly, but the monsters here were all utterly corrupted, and it wasn’t certain whether they even had any blood.

Even if they did have blood, absorbing their blood might cause Wen Wen to lose control on the spot.

By then, the boss of this villa complex might be him...

He walked a distance and saw two villas facing each other.

One looked like a spider’s den, filled with a sinister and terrifying aura, clearly not ordinary.

The other villa, however, made Wen Wen’s gaze freeze.

That villa showed no signs of corruption, and warm lights were shining inside; from outside the window, vague shapes of people moving around were visible.

"It looks just like an ordinary family... there’s no trace of supernatural powers, but in this environment, I can’t rely on perception."

"With the surroundings here, it’s impossible for living people to exist, so there definitely is something wrong with this place!"

Wen Wen hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to enter or not; this place could be the source of the corruption, but it might also hold a method to counteract the corrupted monsters. It was extremely dangerous to rashly enter anywhere under the current circumstances.

But now that Furong River City was in crisis, even with the impending danger, Wen Wen shouldn’t ignore this villa.

As he was hesitating, the door of the villa opened, and a boy with a crew cut poked his head out, excitedly saying to Wen Wen:

"Uncle, come in quickly; those monsters can’t get in here!"
