Chapter 174 - 172 Eagle Monster

Chapter 174: Chapter 172 Eagle Monster

In the Qi Ling Mountain Range, Wen Wen was sitting by a fire, roasting a pig leg.

The pig leg’s knee was shattered, a carcass collected previously from Yuteng Village. Although it was meant to feed monsters, the meat had no issues, so he might as well treat himself first.

He had managed to procure a wide array of seasonings from the Sanctuary’s kitchen, so all that was left to do outdoors was to light the fire.

The pig skin had been roasted to a crisp, and the sauce glistened enticingly on top. A gentle poke with his dagger caused the oily juices to flow out, hissing as they fell on the fire.

Wen Wen chuckled, sliced off a steaming piece of meat that was the perfect balance of fat and lean, and started to chew with satisfaction.

He wasn’t afraid of being burnt, so he could fully enjoy the most delicious moment of eating the roast meat.

On the tree beside him, a little girl clad in white, no more than one meter twenty in height, was tied around the waist with two black chains and hung up high.

She had fluffy long ears on top of her head and a white tuft that resembled a tail behind her.

This was a Little Rabbit Demon Yao.

The Rabbit Demon Yao stared fixedly at the roasted meat in Wen Wen’s hands, incessantly swallowing saliva, but Wen Wen was not about to share a bite with her.

He just loved to eat alone.

"I’m just a pitiful little rabbit, kind sir, please let me go."

The Rabbit Demon Yao pleaded, then wiped her face with her sleeve—not sure whether she was wiping off saliva or tears.

"Heh, stop your whining; that old uncle was much more pitiful than you," Wen Wen said without a trace of sympathy.

Don’t be fooled by the Rabbit Demon Yao’s appearance; when Wen Wen saw her, she was gnawing at a Hunter who had somehow strayed into the Qi Ling Mountain Range. Judging by the wounds on his body, he was killed by this Rabbit Demon Yao.

The Rabbit Demon Yao coquettishly said, "I was hungry, everybody in these mountains is ferocious, and I couldn’t find anything to eat..."

"Don’t act cute with me; it’s useless."

Wen Wen picked up a small pebble and, with the strength of a Centaur, threw it accurately into the Rabbit Demon Yao’s mouth.

He then pointed at a dried heap of unidentifiable animal droppings nearby and said, "Talk again, and I’ll feed you shit!"

The Little Rabbit Demon Yao quickly covered her mouth with a pitiful look, not daring to speak.

The Rabbit Demon Yao wasn’t very strong, but she possessed some special abilities, such as the ability to stir up a protective desire in people, making them not want to hurt her.

But this tactic had no effect on Wen Wen.

Wen Wen normally didn’t have much of a protective urge to begin with; he was already restraining himself by not wanting to oppress others. So such an unusual emotion was quickly noticed and snuffed out by him while still budding.

He had not immediately taken her to the Sanctuary because he wanted to use her as bait, to see if any monsters would take the hook.

Wandering through the deep woods and forests, the novelty of it all wore off after the initial excitement, turning into ennui.

Afterward, he continued to devour the savory pork leg.

The pork leg was truly exceptional, not any worse than those from barbecue joints. As a detective... oh, no, as a man who had lived alone for many years, culinary skills were indeed something to be maxed out...

After eating an entire pork leg by himself, Wen Wen raised an eyebrow; something was approaching from this direction.

Indeed, as soon as this thought had arisen, an alluring cry rang out from the sky.

"Ying~ Ying~ Ying."

A Golden Eagle with feathers edged slightly in gold swooped down from the sky, its sharp claws aiming precisely at the Rabbit Demon Yao.

Wen Wen’s eyes lit up; this was a bite on the bait!

After flying a distance with the Rabbit Demon Yao, the Golden Eagle suddenly felt its flight become sluggish and noticed the chains on the Rabbit Demon Yao, and at the end of the chains was Wen Wen, holding them in his hand.

The Golden Eagle tried to lift Wen Wen too but discovered that Wen Wen was astonishingly strong, and the length of the chains could be freely adjusted.

It was like a kite, with Wen Wen being the kite flyer.

Realizing that it could not get away like this, the Golden Eagle let out another cry and dived down, its claws sharp enough to split metal aiming for Wen Wen.

To capture one prey is to capture, to capture two is just the same, so it might as well take Wen Wen along.

Wen Wen smiled, this foolish bird had no idea what it was about to face.

It had been dragging the rabbit for so long, one of the two chains on the rabbit’s waist had already wound around its leg!

The Golden Eagle swooped at Wen Wen but he easily dodged, then looked at the Golden Eagle with a touch of awe.

"That is truly handsome."

This Golden Eagle stood three meters tall even on the ground, with a wingspan probably close to ten meters, its feathers were brownish-yellow, the tips a pure gold, shimmering dazzlingly in the sunlight.

A large size meant a large attack range, and the Golden Eagle’s continual strikes had Wen Wen scrambling to evade.

However, Wen Wen quickly grew accustomed to dealing with flying enemies, becoming able to respond with composure.

The Golden Eagle didn’t demonstrate any special abilities, and regarding strength, it was rather weak among disaster-level beings, even less formidable than the previously encountered Tyrant Chicken Duo.

But its ability to fly made up for many shortcomings.

After several of its attacks were dodged by Wen Wen, the Golden Eagle perched atop a tall tree, looking down at Wen Wen and said.

"Ying ying ying, human, this is not a place for you to come."

Don’t get it wrong, the ying ying sound isn’t trying to be cute; that’s just how the bird cries.

Many imposing-looking birds don’t have very heroic cries, like the Bald Eagle’s ying ying ying.

"Human superpower user, entering this land without permission, this is a violation of the covenant."

"Human? No, I am not human."

Wen Wen closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, they had turned blood-red, and sharp fangs protruded from his mouth.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, Wen Wen decided not to be human!

"Blood Clan... The Qi Ling Mountain Range is also not a place for your Blood Clan to come."

The ferocity of the large bird lessened a bit—if he wasn’t human, its desire to attack was much lower.

The Blood Clan was tough to deal with and not tasty, forcing oneself to eat it could lead to an upset stomach.

The worst part was, what went in looking a certain way would come out looking exactly the same.

The last time it saw a female Eagle Monster passing a clump of minced meat, it broke up with her right then and there...

"Woo woo, the Eagle Monster is so scary, can you let me go, please?"

During the recent fight, the Rabbit Girl had managed to escape the Golden Eagle’s claws, but there was still an unbreakable chain around her waist.

Wen Wen turned his head, asking the Rabbit Girl in surprise, "What did you say it’s called?"

"An Eagle Monster!" the Little Rabbit Demon Yao said, as if it were obvious.

"That’s right, I am the Eagle Monster." The large bird said, gesturing with its wings on its hips, seemingly quite proud.

"Ever since the Tyrant Chicken Duo mysteriously disappeared, the Eagle Monster took over their spot, becoming another little bully of the Qi Ling Mountain Range, oppressing many little monsters."

The Little Rabbit Demon Yao spared no effort to slander the Eagle Monster, hoping that Wen Wen and the Eagle Monster would both be injured, allowing her to reap the benefits.

But Wen Wen didn’t give her that opportunity, the Catastrophe Gloves appeared, he clenched his fist, and punched her on the head, then locked her up inside the Sanctuary.

Then he pointed at the Eagle Monster and said, "You, you’re next."
