Chapter 170: Chapter 168 Centaur
Wen Wen bowed his body and bent down, pulling out two daggers, and charged toward the baboon with a grim smile.
After a brief scuffle, he easily suppressed the curly-haired baboon.
Honestly, in terms of strength, this baboon was much stronger than Tao Qingqing. In other respects, it was at a definite disadvantage when compared with her.
It had managed to drive Wen Wen away last time because its special abilities had become abnormally amplified.
Not long after the baboon started losing ground, its eyes suddenly became dull and vacant.
Seeing that dull and hollow gaze, Wen Wen shivered inside. It was in this state that it had driven him away last time.
The baboon swung its arms, smashing them to the ground and directly creating a huge pit!
After becoming dull, all of its attributes more than doubled, and it even gained super-sensitive battle instincts. Its strength had increased several-fold.
As soon as Wen Wen saw it enter that state, he bolted. Going head-to-head with it now would just be foolish.
In this state, the curly-haired baboon’s strength increased, no doubt, but its brain functioned even worse than usual, akin to having no brain at all, relentlessly pursuing and attacking.
Had it not been for its overwhelming strength, Wen Wen could have easily slain it last time.
This time, however, Wen Wen had already set traps in anticipation of its appearance.
After running a distance, he reached the place where he had set the traps. The trap was crudely made—a large pit two meters in diameter, simply covered with some straw.
Any beast with a bit of intelligence would not fall for such an obvious trap.
Unfortunately, this curly-haired baboon lacked intelligence.
With a bit of teasing from Wen Wen, the baboon naively stepped into the trap and fell straight into it.
To make it less likely to escape, Wen Wen had dug the trap ten meters deep!
Of course, this single trap was not enough to capture the baboon. Its claws easily penetrated the soil as it rapidly climbed upward.
"If you can climb out today, you can call my name backwards!"
Wen Wen grabbed a nearby tree stump, sharpened and about five to six meters tall and thick enough for two people to hug, prepared in advance, and threw it directly into the pit.
He then jumped on top of the stump, Catastrophe Gloves appeared and, summoning all his strength, punched the stump down as if hammering a nail, driving it into the trap!
He refused to believe he couldn’t subdue a baboon with this.
However, Wen Wen quickly realized his mistake as he saw the stump being slowly pushed back up.
Even so, he couldn’t suppress the baboon, which gave him a sense of defeat.
Wen Wen gritted his teeth. While forcefully pushing down the stump, he snapped his fingers, and water from a nearby stream rose into the air, snaking its way into the trap through the crevices.
The surge of water made it difficult for the baboon to leverage itself, and Wen Wen managed to push it down bit by bit.
When the water had submerged half of the stump, Wen Wen snapped his fingers again, releasing a pale Cold Qi. He froze the water in the pit along with the curly-haired baboon!
But that wasn’t enough. With the baboon’s strength, simply freezing the water wasn’t enough to trap it.
Wen Wen continued to press the stump down, preventing any chance of escape, while consistently releasing Cold Qi to make the ice block more solid.
Good thing the baboon wasn’t too bright; otherwise, it could have simply escaped by making a hole on the side.
But it couldn’t figure out such a complex notion and only knew to exit where it had entered.
Thus, it gradually lost its ability to resist and was suppressed by Wen Wen in the block of ice.
A monster without wisdom, no matter how powerful, is no different from a wild beast.
Wen Wen waited for a while, ensuring the baboon’s Qi had weakened substantially, before pulling out the stump and digging out the ice block that encased it.
In the ice, the baboon still had a puzzled expression, not quite understanding why it had suddenly been frozen.
"Heh heh heh, I’ve caught you now."
Wen Wen captured the curly-haired baboon into the Catastrophe Containment Facility, eagerly anticipating the kind of ability such a powerful creature would bring him.
That sudden surge of power was quite impressive; if the current Wen Wen were to use it, his strength might approach a Disaster Level!
But when Wen Wen actually saw the baboon’s ability, his expression froze, and he could only look up at the sky, speechless.
"Better not use this ability in the future."
The name of this ability was "Abandon Thought."
The baboon’s limited intelligence greatly hindered its ability to utilize its strength.
While normal monsters might develop towards greater intelligence, the curly-haired baboon went to the other extreme, abandoning thought to let instinct take over, which allowed it to unleash its full strength...
If Wen Wen were to use this ability, he would likely lose control completely.
"Ah... to capture such a dud on the first day is not a good start, but with so many monsters here, capturing a few more should yield some useful ones. If all else fails, they can be used to pad the storeroom."
As he pondered this, Wen Wen felt a stirring in his heart; there was a new development within the Catastrophe Containment Facility!
It was a surprising change.
That was, Gong Baoding had begun capturing monsters and had even brought a Disaster Level creature into the sanctuary!
Gong Baoding lacked the authority to enter the Catastrophe Area, so Wen Wen directly entered it, looking at the bewildered creature that still didn’t understand the situation.
This creature was right next to the curly-haired baboon’s enclosure number three. The two irritable monsters roared loudly at each other, eye to eye.
They spoke different languages yet still managed to exchange insults - Wan Wen couldn’t understand it either.
This creature was a female centaur.
A centaur, as the name implies, is a monster with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse.
The upper body of this centaur was unclothed, but Wen Wen didn’t find it inappropriate for children at all.
Most of her upper body’s skin was covered with dark green fur, and the skin had a bluish tint, with muscles coiling around it, not at all womanly.
They merely look somewhat similar to humans; in fact, they are not the same species at all.
Wen Wen scrutinized her with a curious gaze before asking, somewhat perplexedly:
"This might sound offensive, but I’ve always been really curious; after you’ve given birth to little centaurs, do you nurse them with the human half, or horse half?"
After all, a centaur could nurse from either the top or bottom half...
But the centaur didn’t answer Wen Wen. Instead, she charged at him with a roar, slamming into the railing and continuing to neigh fiercely.
If she could understand what Wen Wen said, she would probably be even more agitated than now.
"Tsk, seems like you can’t comprehend what I’m saying."
Wen Wen smiled faintly and transformed into the form of the Catastrophe Prison Warden; with a flick of his finger at the centaur, she fell to her knees, gazing at Wen Wen with a terrified expression.
Even with different languages and cultures, the gap in strength was enough for her to recognize her situation.
Meanwhile, the neighbouring curly-haired baboon, watching the centaur turn cowardly, scratched its bottom and laughed foolishly, as if mocking the centaur.
Well...
With its intelligence, it was incapable of comprehending the situation...
