Chapter 101: The Disappearing Soul

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: The Disappearing Soul

Looking at Jiang Yusheng, whose temples were now streaked with white and whose face was full of sorrow, Wen Wen felt neither sympathy nor hatred in his heart.

Perhaps he had struggled, perhaps he had repented, but people must take responsibility for their actions.

The deeds once committed by Jiang Yusheng were even despised by robbers because he had killed his own accomplices.

Judging from his mundane life afterwards, he didn’t use the profits from his crime to lead a luxurious life, nor did he go further down the path of crime.

That one time might have been just a momentary lapse into evil thoughts, perhaps just an impulse, but since he had done it, he had to pay the price.

"When I first came here, I said that tonight I would resolve the issues here, and now, it’s time for it to end,"

"What do you plan to do, throw me in jail? That’s right, you’re a detective; capturing someone like me would get you a reward, wouldn’t it?"

Jiang Yusheng, looking at Wen Wen, spoke despondently. His words no longer held any disguise. Mother Jiang and Jiang Wenyue were shocked as they looked at Jiang Yusheng, as if seeing him for the first time.

That event had always been a knot in his heart. A plot had once brought him a sum of money that was considered huge during that era. However, he had used all that money to buy this villa, yet he had not spent a single night here for over twenty years.

It wasn’t until his son needed a larger place for raising dogs that he moved his whole family into the villa.

Today, as Wen Wen exposed him, he suddenly felt very panicked, but he also felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted from his heart.

"Prison... Ha, you’re not worthy of the prison I have in mind."

Wen Wen turned his head to the Human-Headed Dog and coldly commanded, "Turn off your ability, let him pay his debts!"

It lay on the ground, covering its eyes with its paws, not wanting to witness the scene that was to come. Then it turned off its ability, and the entire villa instantly became cold and eerie.

At the moment the ability was turned off, those missing arms, missing legs, unrecognizable as human, one after another, ghastly figures all emerged from thin air.

The villa, which was quite spacious, suddenly became crowded, filled with cold and sinister ghosts!

As he saw these figures appear, Jiang Yusheng became stunned. The faces of these ghosts were the ones he had seen in his dreams for over twenty years.

And what he feared most was seeing these people again!

Mother Jiang, witnessing this scene, fainted outright. Jiang Wenyue screamed and then covered her face, not daring to look at anything.

Only Jiang Wenhu’s lips were trembling, yet he managed to remain rational.

But the most composed wasn’t Jiang Wenhu, it was the previously timid Jiao Xinlei who had come with Wen Wen. After emerging from the bathroom, she had been able to see these things all along. To her, the scene before her wasn’t particularly horrific.

"Mr. Jiang, I am merely a detective, not an enforcer. Thus, I will not judge you, but at the same time, I have no obligation as a police officer, so I will not protect you!"

Wen Wen no longer looked at the somewhat stupefied Jiang Yusheng, instead he coldly addressed the menacing ghosts:

"You may seek your vengeance, but since the opportunity for revenge is provided by me, it must be done my way. There is a culprit for every grievance and a debtor for every debt. You can only take your revenge on this one person, otherwise, I will not be courteous."

After Wen Wen spoke those words, the ghosts all pounced on Jiang Yusheng, continuously tearing at his body.

Jiang Yusheng did not resist; he just kept murmuring words that no one else could understand.

Now full of regret, he had only run a repair shop that occasionally scattered spikes on the road to puncture people’s tires. He didn’t have the guts or the ability to commit a major crime that hurt or killed hundreds, and then get away with it.

All of this stemmed from one person’s incitement.

It was that person who had created the entire plan for him, helped him with the aftermath, and cleared away all uncertainties. And that person wanted only one thing.

At the last moment, Jiang Yusheng recalled that scene.

Sitting in front of the repair shop on a chair, he was complaining about his meager income. Then a gentleman in an all-white suit, leaning on a cane, handed him an old-fashioned contract...

Watching a ghost tearing at his own father, Jiang Wenhu snatched the bamboo sword from Jiao Xinlei’s hands and charged toward those ghosts, he meant to save someone!

But his shoulder was effortlessly caught by Wen Wen, unable to advance any further.

"Let go of me!" Jiang Wenhu struggled forcefully as he spoke.

Wen Wen raised an eyebrow and said, "He got what he deserved."

"But he’s my father," Jiang Wenhu yelled.

Seeing him still wanting to rush forward, Wen Wen sighed, joined his hands into a knife shape, and chopped down on Jiang Wenhu’s neck.

Jiang Wenhu cried out in pain as he was struck by the hand chop and knelt on the ground, his neck swelling red, but he didn’t lose consciousness.

"They always pass out when hit like this on TV... It must be that my method is wrong."

So, Wen Wen struck again on the right side, and Jiang Wenhu’s right neck turned red and swollen too...

Now, Jiang Wenhu was no longer fixated on saving his father, as he was in such severe pain in his shoulder that he could not get up.

"Hmm... my mistake, a miscalculation."

Wen Wen, squatting and feeling awkward, extended a finger and flicked Jiang Wenhu’s wailing head, the tremendous force immediately causing him to lose consciousness.

"Ah, that’s more like it."

Only then did Wen Wen stand up satisfied, and as to whether that flick would cause Jiang Wenhu a concussion or something, that was beyond his control.

After dealing with Jiang Wenhu, Jiang Yusheng on the other side had already been bitten so badly by the numerous ghosts that his flesh was mangled and his guts and bones were exposed, the scene was extremely bloody, and it was clear he wasn’t going to survive.

Jiang Yusheng’s soul separated from his body, and just as the ghosts were about to tear his soul to shreds as well, they were bounced away from it.

Then, his soul vanished!

Wen Wen’s eyebrows lifted, he couldn’t see human souls, nor did he know where Jiang Yusheng’s soul had gone, but he had felt it, for an instant, a portal to the Inner World had opened at Jiang Yusheng’s location!

The ghosts, having failed to destroy Jiang Yusheng’s soul, and not having perfectly completed their revenge, turned their blood-red eyes towards the remaining three members of the Jiang Family, their ferocity had been roused, and an indiscriminate attack was likely to ensue.

Wen Wen stood in front of the remaining three, tilting his head as he looked at these ghosts, "Your vengeance is complete. The remaining three people had nothing to do with that incident, go back to your world."

As Wen Wen spoke, some of the ghosts gradually disappeared into thin air, the obsession that had supported their existence in the real world had vanished, and they could leave.

However, a portion of the ghosts still remained in the villa with cold eyes.

"As expected, one can’t actually reason with things like you. I saw people negotiating with ghosts on TV and thought you could communicate..."

"After becoming ghosts, you can no longer be considered human. It was my mistake to try and reason with you."

Wen Wen chuckled bitterly, then his expression turned grim, his head tilted slightly up, and a wild aura emanated from him.

"Now, I give you two choices, either obediently return to the Inner World or simply die here."

Under Wen Wen’s aura, the ghosts moved back slightly but quickly edged forward again.

The one who caused their tragic fate was Jiang Yusheng, but merely killing Jiang Yusheng wasn’t enough, their hatred wouldn’t be satisfied with just one death!

"Since you don’t want to go back, then stay here," Wen Wen said as he caressed the Catastrophe Gloves on his hand.
