Chapter 993: Chapter 530: Proud Tiger Da_3

Director Wu’s ability to stand out and make decisions when everyone else was at a loss was precisely why he was the garden director. With a grand gesture, he declared, "Xiao Qin will take two comrades to stay behind and pair up with Boss Yan to see if there’s any chance of a turnaround. The rest of you, come with me to the meeting!"

Leaving Xiao Qin and a few others, along with the two female staff members who were accompanying Xu Xiaoyan, staring at the awkward and gloomy Boss Yan, they were momentarily speechless.

As soon as Director Wu and his group had walked a distance away, Yan Fei immediately stood up. Tiger Da also tried to stand up but was given a smack on the head and a scolding by Yan Fei before he walked out of the cage.

Perhaps because he had spent time with Tiger Da, and showed no intention of closing the cage door upon his exit, Tiger Da did not persist in stopping Yan Fei from leaving this time.

By the time Yan Fei nearly reached Xiao Qin and the others, they were still pretending not to see him, all of them staring tensely at the open tiger enclosure door, fearing the tiger might suddenly burst out.

"Don’t worry, our Tiger Da is extremely well-behaved and would never run away without permission." It was Xu Xiaoyan who ended up comforting the two female staff members, instead of the other way around, from beginning to end.

Walking over, Yan Fei was still a bit frustrated, "I was hoping to leave Tiger Da here so we could go shopping, but it looks like we won’t make it this afternoon!"

"It’s fine if we can’t go. Playing here is just as good." Xu Xiaoyan didn’t mind not going shopping at all. For her, being with Yan Xiaofei was all that mattered, regardless of where they were.

Yan Fei chuckled, "I didn’t see it coming, but Tiger Da is quite awesome, the darn thing didn’t even fancy the other party. By the way, Old Qin, what do you think your director is going to discuss in the meeting?"

Xiao Qin was also frustrated, "I don’t know either. Probably to brainstorm a solution. You’ve come all this way; if it doesn’t work out this time, they won’t have the cheek to keep troubling you!"

In the tiger enclosure, the female tiger lay down against the wall, pretending to nap, occasionally opening her eyes to look pitifully at Tiger Da. Unfortunately, Tiger Da didn’t even look back. Assured that Yan Fei hadn’t gone far, he lay there comfortably, his eyes half-closed, not sleeping but not awake either, oblivious to the fact that many were growing anxious over their affair, with some on the brink of going gray.

The initial excitement of bringing in the tiger had dwindled to a fine start but a poor finish, leaving the group with no interest in chatting. Besides, Xiao Qin and the others kept their eyes fixed on the tiger enclosure door, not in the mood to talk about anything else.

Yan Fei simply took Xu Xiaoyan to a bench under the shade of trees not far away, and they sat down.

Directly opposite them were the aviaries, multiple large cages home to groups of birds Yan Fei didn’t recognize, chirping away carefree, untroubled by their caged existence.

Listening to the cheerful birdsong, Yan Fei and Xu Xiaoyan sat there, contentedly enjoying the tranquility of the place.

But what had to come, always did. Director Wu’s meeting was apparently a brief one, and it wasn’t long before he hurried over with a group of people, startling Yan Fei with his opening remark, "Boss Yan, do you think if we let this tiger from the garden stay with yours for a while, they’ll hit it off?"

Yan Fei couldn’t be sure; just because he fed tigers didn’t mean he understood what kind of tigress Tiger Da would like. Parents raising sons who go bride-hunting can cause quite a fuss, and that’s just for humans—let alone tigers. At least for now, it seemed that the female tiger from the zoo didn’t appeal to Tiger Da.

Seeing Yan Fei lost in thought, Director Wu shared his own idea straightaway, "We would like to entrust you to take the tiger and let them stay together for a while. What do you think? Don’t worry, it won’t take too long, a week at most. If there is no hope, we will transport the tiger back. Any expenses incurred, including the compensation due to you, you just keep a tab, and we will not have any second words about it."

The old cunning fox, knowing that Yan Fei wasn’t the type to ask for extravagant compensation, was taking the opportunity to launch forth a tempting proposal.

Director Wu’s decision to ’let the tiger leave the garden’ showcased an extraordinary level of courage. It was undoubtedly against the rules, even though he had phoned his superiors for permission—if things went smoothly and succeeded, the best he could hope for was to break even in terms of merit and fault. But if a mistake occurred, his position as director might not be secure.

He also had his difficulties. It seemed that the female tiger in his own garden was poorly managed when even finding a match for her was unsuccessful, thus warranting serious contemplation of the underlying reasons.

Seeing how impressively Yan Fei’s tiger was, he wanted to take the risk and let Yan Fei take the tiger to care for it a few days, perhaps improving the situation and helping them identify gaps in their management methods.

Unfortunately, Yan Fei’s place was already quite lively, and he was truly reluctant to turn his home into a tiger garden. He tried to decline, "Director Wu, you’re aware of the situation at my place, right? Besides the tiger I brought today, I’ve got two more at home! Plus, a black bear and a Golden Eagle—it’s not just chaotic. You know how hard it is to manage when there are too many animals. I’m afraid of any possible problems..."

"Don’t worry, if there’s a problem, I’ll take full responsibility. As long as you ensure the tiger doesn’t hurt anyone, even if it gets sick and dies from not adapting to the environment at your place, I guarantee no one will trouble you over it," Director Wu said with uncommon determination, and he had more than just promises to offer.
