Chapter 990: Chapter 529: There’s No Need to Speak of the Prestige_5

At least those two policemen and the traffic officer became as if facing a formidable enemy after their speechlessness, fearing that something unpredictable might happen in this situation—it’s actually quite normal for something to happen under such emotionally charged circumstances. Otherwise, why would there be incidents during parades people held in other countries!

Yan Fei also heard that suppressed roar, but he recognized immediately what was happening. His face remained expressionless as he continued to lead Tiger Da forward.

It was Headmaster Old Wu and the others who were startled, they even hurriedly sent someone back to check what had happened.

However, soon everyone was too concerned about what was happening in front of them to care about the rear—they were facing a real crisis, a very big one at that.

Entering through the zoo’s back gate, there was a large iron cage housing two vultures.

Now the two vultures were flying crazily upwards as if they had lost their minds, even though they were banging against the cage and their feathers were sent fluttering downwards, they still persisted relentlessly in their efforts.

There was continuous shrieking from the distant Monkey Mountain; although it was out of sight, one could easily imagine the monkeys jumping up and down frenetically. Not far away, the swans, Red-crowned cranes, and others that usually strolled leisurely, now forewent their usual composure and were frantically flapping their wings in flight.

Even farther away, it was even livelier—zebras, camels, sika deer, and the like couldn’t see anything, but instinctively, they too began to grow restless. Various cries mixed together, and if not for the panic in those sounds, one might have thought it was the animals preparing for a gala.

In contrast, the carnivore zone was quiet—it was originally called the Beast Area, but those animals were only worthy of the term ’beast’; they couldn’t hold a candle to the might implied by ’beastly.’

A few foxes crowded together, shivering in their den; two wolves with their tails tucked ran straight to the back; three black bears lay in their lair, covering their eyes with their paws as if that would render them invisible.

As for those wild boars persistently pushing against the walls and the cackling hyenas clustering together, it goes without saying.

When Tiger Da walked past, even the two lions immediately lay down and submitted, flat on the ground.

It wasn’t an exaggeration. Even though these animals were raised in the zoo, their innate nature couldn’t be erased that easily. The reverence they held for a dominant beast who sat at the absolute top of the food chain was in their blood.

Besides, animals are far more sensitive than humans who live in comfortable rooms, wrapped in the ease of life, wearing various garments all year round. It wasn’t surprising that such a situation occurred.

If it had been a regular tiger, they might have been slightly calmer, but Tiger Da was following Yan Fei, and now he looked like he wouldn’t hesitate to pounce even on dinosaurs, with his little brothers and sisters in tow—his ferocity wasn’t something ordinary beasts could match.

Director Wu and his team were thrown into disarray; they wanted to calm the animals but didn’t dare get too close to Yan Fei and Tiger Da. They had to wait for them to pass before they dared to approach and soothe the panicked animals—but sadly, not even using the backup meat which they threw in could entice the creatures that typically would wolf down their food. Now, none of them dared to move.

Fortunately, the tiger enclosure was just ahead.

Sensing the unfamiliar presence of its kind, Tiger Da grew somewhat excited, shaking its head and wagging its tail, tugging at the leash eager to run forward. Unfortunately for him, Yan Fei held him back; he dared not and could not speed up, not even by a hair’s breadth...

Having found a spot to stand, Yan Fei then called out to Headmaster Old Wu, "Director Wu, send someone over to open the cage first, and then I’ll go over. Otherwise, if I stand by the door, you won’t dare to come over!"

Listening to his tone that sounded like a joke, Old Wu’s laughter also seemed somewhat forced.

If this tiger appeared as tame as a kitten in front of Yan Fei, making everyone think it might not be as fierce as they imagined, the reactions of the animals in the zoo now fully demonstrated that this tiger was certainly not just a pretty face with no substance.

The person who had the key was too scared to come over. It was Xiao Qin who took the key and took the initiative to open the gate—not blaming others for their reluctance, since as long as the gate was locked, it was only opened a few times a year for the tiger’s health inspections. But that was when the tiger was inside; now, with a tiger both inside and out, who would have the courage?

Upon opening the gate, the tiger inside did not come out; only a deep growling could be heard from within.

Yan Fei thought for a moment, then started to push Tiger Da inside.

Anyway, he had paid admission and seen the tiger inside; it posed no threat to Tiger Da. As for Tiger Da, with him watching, it was certain that no ’tiger bullying’ would occur.

But saying that didn’t seem quite right; today was about letting Tiger Da ’bully the tiger’ after all...

Ah, whatever!

As he pushed, Yan Fei became puzzled, "Go in, will you? What are you doing?"

It turned out that Tiger Da was vigorously resisting, not wanting to go inside.

Hearing Yan Fei’s rebuke, the beast turned its head and let out a low growl from its throat, appearing as aggrieved as a small kitten.

That wasn’t all; it kept rubbing against him, even using a trick it learned from following dogs to ingratiate itself to people, with its tail rigid like an iron bar wagging back and forth...
