Chapter 949: Chapter 515: The Fisherman Who Killed the Sea Monster is Also Helpless_2

The more evenly matched the battle, the harder it was to end quickly. If it were a battle where one side was strong and the other weak, in nature, it would end swiftly—either the weaker side would quickly seize the opportunity to escape or become food.

The wonders of nature were everywhere, these two colossal sea monsters, if not having stumbled upon each other, could have continued to dominate their respective territories as tyrants of the seas.

But now that the battle had started, it was clear that neither side would be willing to stop fighting for the time being.

However, this was a good opportunity, especially for Yan Fei, who had inadvertently witnessed this battle.

He was just a bit bored, having been dragged out by Xu Xiaoyan to catch rabbits. Fearing the girl might catch a cold, he didn’t go far and knew the likelihood of encountering rabbits here was slim, so he never intended to seriously rely on the two dogs to hunt wild rabbits.

That’s why, just now, using "cheating" methods, he had helped the two dogs "catch" a "prey."

Of course, doing this wasn’t a problem as long as he was careful, but even fools knew they couldn’t keep doing it. They had to walk for a while longer, right?

Xu Xiaoyan was only concerned with her little flashlight that twinkled like fireflies, hoping to personally spot a wild rabbit. Yan Fei took the chance to glance at the world of dinosaurs and happened to discover this fight.

Such a big squid!

Honestly, squids had given Yan Fei a quite unpleasant first impression—back then, that thing had made him feel sick for a long, long time. But times had changed, and he had long since gotten used to treating squids as food. It was only because Sancha River was far from the sea that he could not often share them with everyone.

An ichthyosaur over thirty meters in length entangled by a giant squid had to weigh several tons—at least. This was the terror of such mollusks. If you compared their weight, the squid was probably ten times heavier than the ichthyosaur. Under such a massive difference, if the ichthyosaur was not careful enough or reacted a bit slower, it could easily become the squid’s meal.

Several tons worth of giant squid, whether you wanted to fry, sauté, boil, barbecue, or prepare it with a secret spicy recipe, would certainly be sufficient for any flavor.

Of course, the premise is this behemoth’s flesh is suitable for consumption. Anyone who has eaten squid knows, even when they are small, those squid tentacles are quite tough—squid tentacle refers to its arms.

Now, one so massive that it could render such a large ichthyosaur helpless, one can only imagine how strong its body was.

Eating was just one aspect, if Yan Fei could personally kill these two sea monsters right now, the benefits alone would be enough to keep him grinning until dawn.

However, now was not the time to think about this. What was more important was to quickly convince the silly girl, still cluelessly searching for wild rabbits, to go back home to sleep.

"Why don’t we head back earlier? I think there might be only this one rabbit here; finding more would be tough and a waste of time," Yan Fei shouted over to the girl, who was carefully acting as if a rabbit might pop out any moment.

"Shh!" The girl turned and glanced at him. "Don’t be loud. What if you scare off the rabbits?"

"If they did run out, wouldn’t it be perfect for the dogs to chase?" Yan Fei said helplessly. "I think it’s unlikely we’ll find any more here. Can we go back now?"

"We’ve just got out here!" The girl seemed puzzled, as she was still excited. They had just caught a wild rabbit. It was such a good sign; maybe they’d find a second one soon!

"Then..." Yan Fei surreptitiously glanced at the two sea monsters still in combat in the sea and then back at the enthusiastic girl, making his decision on the spot. "Let’s wait a bit longer, we could catch another one to take back!"

Battles like the one between the giant squid and the ichthyosaur in the sea were rare, but probably not unheard of. Now that he’d discovered it, he’d pay more attention in the future; surely, he would find more—although these two, particularly the giant squid from the deep sea, rarely surfaced, making them hard to find. But that was hardly an issue for him; he had all the time in the world.

However, when he suggested waiting a bit longer before returning, the girl suddenly stopped her sneaky, more thief-like than rabbit-hunting actions and looked at his clothes, promptly suggesting, "Let’s go back then!"

"Why go back now?" Yan Fei was a bit bewildered.

"I told you to dress warmer usually, but you don’t listen. Look now, as soon as it gets a bit cooler at night, you’re cold! Let’s go, let’s go. We’ll get into the warm bed early and warm up," the girl said while gesturing with her flashlight, casting a broad beam of light across the air as her hand moved to and fro, looking quite pretty.

"I’m not cold..."

"Just go when I tell you to, hurry up." The girl was curt and then, like a tomboy, she put her hand to her mouth and whistled loudly, signaling for the two dogs to come over quickly.

Yan Fei watched her do that, not really knowing what to say. After a while, he managed, "Where did you learn that from..."

Such a whistle, which required the aid of fingers, coming from the mouth of a young delinquent wouldn’t have surprised Yan Fei, but his own silly girl, when had she learned this...

"Hehehe..." The girl chuckled like a mischievous brat, beckoned him with her fingers, and cast a seductive glance his way. "Come on, handsome, give me a smile!"
