Chapter 889: Chapter 492: A Temp Worker’s Morning_3

Dang Wenzheng had finally managed to give a rather vague work report and had just hung up the phone when it rang again. He waited a moment before picking up and asked in the authentic Sancha River Mandarin, "Hello, may I ask who you’re looking for?"

The person on the other end still recognized his voice and said directly, "You called earlier, looking for our leader, asking him to return the call. May I know which unit you’re from?"

"Who are you?" Dang Wenzheng had dialed several numbers and had forgotten. After asking, he remembered to be more polite and added, "Whose relative are you?"

"I’m not a relative; I’m the leader’s secretary..."

"Why are you calling, Secretary? This is a notification for family members. Hurry up and inform your leader," Dang Wenzheng said and then hung up the phone with a slap.

Then he turned to Yan Fei with a smirking grin and said, "Heh, it’s that secretary again, acting all mighty. I’m following the law here, only notifying family members. We’re not taking any other calls..."

Before he could finish, the phone rang again, still the voice of that young man.

Dang Wenzheng grew angry upon hearing it, "I told you to notify a family member; if you call again, it’s going to be harassment! Don’t interfere with our case handling, or keep yapping and I’ll lock you up too."

The young secretary got flustered upon hearing the hangup on this end. From what the other party had said, he was able to figure out which department they were from.

Looking at the phone number he had jotted down, he dialed an acquaintance in the Wancheng City police department, "Hello, this is so-and-so! I wanted to ask, which of your police stations has arrested our leader’s son?"

The acquaintance at the city department was also puzzled, "Really? Just a second, let me ask."

After inquiring, they called back, "There’s no word of it in the city, could it be some county station? Give me the phone number, and I will check."

After some effort, they finally tracked it down to the Sancha River police station and called through, where Dang Wenzheng answered, "From the city bureau? What? Wrong arrest? Definitely not the case. We have caught him red-handed... no, he confessed on his own, we’ve already got the confession. They came over trying to force a sale and threatened our local businesses, saying if they didn’t cooperate with their forced purchasing, they would shut them down. They even tried to get violent with people..."

If the term ’awesome yet disastrous’ had been popular back then, that cocky son of a leader was just that. Already scared half to death by Boss Yan’s fierce appearance, upon entering the police station, he still tried to impress by invoking his father’s status.

The problem was, the people at the police station weren’t worldly, they had no idea who this ’someone’ really was—of course, that made sense, could a little township police station in the middle of nowhere really recognize every leader from the province? If they had that kind of ability, they wouldn’t stay in this dump!

Seeing that his tactics weren’t working on the officers, and without even getting to intimidate them twice, the Young Master obediently wrote his confession, signed it, and even thumbprinted it.

In fact, even the police officers hadn’t expected this young, impressive-looking Young Master to be so ’cooperative.’ Catching a street hooligan involved in a brawl wouldn’t confess so easily, always trying to downplay their own guilt. But this guy was different, honestly spilling everything in his written statement—small police stations do that, making the person write their own confession.

The others who were caught with him also wanted to resist at first, but when they saw their ringleader confessing and admitting to everything, what else could they say? At that point, they too, decided to just ’come clean’ obediently.

At least this way, they could still retain the dignity of not being petty in the face of loss.

The person who had called from the city bureau wasn’t significant, and their relationship with the secretary was quite ordinary. Seeing that the small police station wasn’t playing ball, they couldn’t be bothered to make an effort and simply returned the call.

The secretary thought it over, better to report to the leader! If dragging the matter out solved the problem it would be fine, but if not, it would be a waste of time, and anyone with sense would know that they’d be left in a bad spot in the end.
