Chapter 879: Chapter 489: Trouble Without Resistance_2
Originally, after the first visit, when word got around that Boss Yan wasn’t there, the person left a message and walked away. But this afternoon, they came again, all high and mighty, demanding that Heizi and the others hurry up and call the Boss back.
It involved someone from the city government, and those who wanted to purchase beef even mentioned Provincial City. Heizi ran around the village asking questions, but couldn’t find any useful information. So, once again, they had to inform Boss Yan, hoping that he would return soon to take charge.
The folks on site didn’t dare make any decisions on behalf of Yan Fei, fearing they might offend someone they shouldn’t. Therefore, Yan Fei’s pleasure trip had to come to an end, for the time being.
However, when he spoke with Xu Xiaoyan, Yan Fei made up a reason, saying that a major customer had come to the family and might purchase a large batch of beef, so he was considering going back early—there was no need to worry her with the details just yet. Now that she and her sisters were having a great time with the little tycoon Bai Xiaobin, there was no need to let them know about his situation.
He got on a bus and traveled a few stops, claiming he was going to the train station to catch the night train, but that was simply impossible. Halfway there, he found a spot to get off, ducked into an alley, found a corner, and flew up into the sky, arriving at Sancha River in half an hour.
It was still early, so he entered the dinosaur world again to check on his construction site.
He had sneaked in during the past two nights, and the workers had reached the river estuary and had started construction.
To prevent danger when he couldn’t enter during the day, Yan Fei had even constructed a small cave out of large stones for them to hide in case of danger.
Over two days, the cave hadn’t been used even once. This area was originally the territory of the Suchomimus family, and as long as they didn’t come looking for trouble, there was a certain level of safety.
Moreover, there were several large construction vehicles here, which, upon starting up, were like steel monsters, always roaring thunderously. Even just honking the horn could echo across the wasteland, deterring any kind of dinosaur from carelessly approaching.
But what needed to be guarded against were the Pterosaurs flying in the sky. However, with several steel monsters around, the Pterosaurs normally didn’t bother them while they worked.
There was just one problem: they were running low on fuel.
Whether they used gasoline or diesel, these vehicles were fuel guzzlers, burning through fuel faster than water when running. Buying fuel was also a hassle because purchasing large amounts of fuel without a good reason might lead to being suspected as an arsonist.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t get some oil from Japan, but just as he was busy at home and didn’t even have time to accompany his wife, he had to tell the workers to conserve fuel until he could address the situation in a couple of days.
No.2 Coolie stood atop a stone hill supervising, and upon seeing Yan Fei arrive, he promptly reported the work progress. By now, every valley had a person rotating to look after the cattle, with the rest working on the construction site. Supervision was supposed to rotate between No.1 and No.2 Coolie, but Yan Fei noticed No.2 Coolie’s superior abilities and left the role entirely to him.
No.2 Coolie might have been a bit slow-witted but he wasn’t completely useless. He was still passionate about weapon-making and had started researching ranged weapons. The large slingshot he held now was his own ’research’ creation.
Yan Fei certainly didn’t indulge him by providing materials for the slingshot. The slingshot was entirely the product of No.2 Coolie’s imagination—he had fabricated the crucial component, the rubber bands, using sinew from some unknown dinosaur.
Before Yan Fei’s arrival, the guy had been standing on the small hill that Yan Fei had piled up with large stones, shooting anyone he saw slacking off. Although the distance was quite far, his hit rate was impressively accurate.
And the slingshot had more uses than just that. No.2 Coolie had exerted all his strength and couldn’t fully stretch it, suggesting its immense power. Bear in mind that he was a strong man who was well-fed in the dinosaur world and often worked out, giving him much more strength than an average adult who regularly exercised.
In fact, the slingshot’s power was probably even a little stronger than a small handgun. When used to warn the Pterosaurs hovering nearby and looking to scope out the situation, its effect was indeed first-rate.
Pterosaurs, relying on their ability to fly, might be wary of the ground’s steel monsters, but at most, they would avoid landing. The bolder ones would still fly around to observe. That was when the slingshot became useful, ambushing them when they flew low, and though it might not cause them much harm, it was enough to scare them away.
This was why No.2 Coolie was able to keep his role as supervisor.
Yan Fei had just come to check in, making regular appearances to let the workers know he could show up anytime, preventing them from slacking off and not working with diligence.
After standing for a while and seeing that the workers recognized his presence, he waved his hand, telling No.2 Coolie to continue supervising on the hill, then arrived in the ice and snow of the Arctic.
The well-fed white dinosaur was sleeping soundly amidst the ice and snow when it was suddenly startled awake to find a smaller dinosaur in front of it, bellowing and challenging.
The white dinosaur immediately got angry. The long Arctic winter was almost upon them, and now was the time to eat more and conserve energy, not to get involved in pointless fights.
After its anger subsided, the white dinosaur realized it couldn’t stoop to the level of the fool before it. Such foolish creatures that didn’t conserve their energy might not even survive the winter, and if it behaved the same, wouldn’t that make it a fool as well?
So, the white dinosaur stood up, with a mighty shake, sent ice and snow flying everywhere, it turned and bolted away after bellowing twice at the dinosaur opposite. With its big legs and swift speed, it really ran incredibly fast. By the time the snow was dispersed by the wind, it had shrunk to a small white dot in the challenger dinosaur’s eyes.
Uh...
This was rather awkward!
Such a sight of a dinosaur fleeing without a fight was really rare. Even the experienced Yan Fei was caught off guard.
Who else could it be that suddenly popped out, if not Boss Yan?
Initially, as Yan Fei watched the white dinosaur’s sleeping time get shorter, and its days filled with hunting and eating, followed by brief rest to digest before gorging again and always filling its belly to the brim, he felt there wasn’t much to look forward to from this dinosaur. He had planned to finish it off today, to treat himself to an extra meal and to also reward the coolies who had been diligently working on construction the past few days.
Unexpectedly, due to a whim to challenge the white dinosaur to a duel, he bellowed mightily, and, to Yan Fei’s surprise, it turned tail and fled.
If it was because he had transformed into a dinosaur too big, causing the white one to flee from the overwhelming threat, that would be understandable. But now, he had specifically turned into a Tyrannosaurus, which was clearly smaller than the white dinosaur.
Could it be that the white dinosaur had some special ability, knowing he had various tricks up his sleeve, and that’s why it ran away?
Thinking this, Yan Fei instantly disappeared from where he was and reappeared on the white dinosaur’s path of escape.
The white dinosaur was sprinting like mad when, suddenly, it saw the dinosaur it had never encountered before reappear and immediately roared angrily, charging at the other one.
Now, that’s more like it!
Yan Fei also let out a bellow and ran toward the creature.
Just as they were about to clash, the white dinosaur spun around, sweeping its tail across the ground, whipping up a blizzard of snow.
Using tactics, huh?
With this thought in mind, Yan Fei didn’t blink and charged into the icy snowstorm.
When he burst out of the snowstorm, he stopped short in surprise.
The white dinosaur had given him an unwavering view of its back, continuing its mad dash in another direction.
Had it resolved to avoid combat completely?
The less it wanted to fight, the more he wanted to test how much it could take.
In an instant, the white dinosaur found its path blocked once again.
Wu ao...
The white dinosaur got angry, stopping at a distance, staring down the figure blocking its way and let out a long, earth-shaking howl!
After howling, it suddenly started spinning in place, its huge tail dragging on the ground like a giant broom, turning up a fog of snow with each rotation.
As the snow fog expanded, the white dinosaur bellowed twice.
Then, it changed direction again and ran off without looking back...
Leaving behind a Tyrannosaurus with a look of utter confusion...
