Chapter 689: Chapter 335 Viewing Goods, Seeking Refuge_1
Just as Director Yao was feeling half-pleased, he heard Yan Fei ask, "By the way, when the next batch of funds comes in, can I pay off the last loan early? I’m quite uncomfortable with owing money so I better repay you soon!"
"Yes!" Director Yao squeezed this word out through his gritted teeth. From his reluctant look, it seemed he wished the bank had no early repayment service.
As the two said goodbye, they heard him mumbling behind them, "Finally there’s a borrower who isn’t scared of not being able to repay, but wants to repay early! Can I still do this job?"
On their way, Xu Xiaoyan could not help asking, "What if we take out a new loan and Hong Kong no longer need our goods?"
"No problem!" replied Yan Fei confidently. "Since we’re not busy these days, let’s go to Jiang City and Gao City. There might be steak restaurants there too, so we can find new clients. We’ll avoid the trouble of finding clients urgently if there are clients who no longer need our goods."
Jiang City and Gao City are the provincial capitals of the two provinces adjacent to Wan City. Both are approximately the same distance from Sancha River as the Provincial City is.
"Can you be away for a few days while the construction of the houses is going on at the site?" Xu Xiaoyan asked.
"Now’s the time. I won’t have free time later! It’s not essential to find new clients. We can go for some fun, and also scout around. If we find someone suitable, it’s better for us to prepare earlier," Yan Fei explained. "Haven’t I often been away before? Nothing went wrong."
"So, when are we going?" the girl asked with anticipation.
Xu Xiaoyan was looking forward to getting out and having fun. Jiang City and Gao City are both renowned historical cities. Jiang City sits along the Yangtze River. An ancient pavilion there gained worldwide fame because of a poem by Cui Hao. As for Gao City, it was an even more prestigious place. Thirteen dynasties had made their capital there in history, making it a world cultural and historical city.
"Let me call my dad at noon to see if he knows where we can catch a bus. I don’t want to hail on the road in case there are no seats available," Yan Fei replied.
"Or we could ride a motorbike. We leave early, park it somewhere, and then take the bus around for some fun!" Xu Xiaoyan suggested.
"No way!" Yan Fei refused without thinking. "I don’t mind the wind on the road, but you can’t. Get off the bus quickly. I’m going to the greenhouse to shift the earthworms. I’ll come back for lunch."
Xu Xiaoyan wanted to argue, but as they had arrived at the cattle farm, she kept quiet.
When Yan Fei said he was going to shift the earthworms, he didn’t mean to literally move them. The climate inside Dinosaur World was much better than in Sancha River, and the earthworms were growing like crazy. Now, there were several bags already stored there, he just didn’t bother to sell them yet.
Chen Liqiang from the pharmaceutical factory said he would reply soon, but didn’t contact for a long time. If he didn’t hear from him in a few days, Yan Fei planned to sell the earthworms when he took Xu Xiaoyan to school.
It didn’t take long to set up the two greenhouses. Anyway, Old Zhutou was usually not around. He directly used dry cow dung from Dinosaur World and laid it in the greenhouse. It only took two trips.
It was still early after finishing the work. He couldn’t return to the cattle farm too fast; Xu Xiaoyan would be confused how he was done so soon.
Just as he was about to return to his room, he saw two black bears secretly scratching the iron chain and climbing up the wooden stake. The cunning look on their silly faces was hilarious.
Seeing Yan Fei coming, the two immediately froze. They didn’t know whether to continue moving the chain or let it go. Yan Fei had no sympathy for them and kicked them a few times, causing the two bears to howl in pain.
Just as he turned around after kicking, two large golden eagles flew up from afar, holding fish in their claws. He immediately flew into a rage.
By looking at the fish, you knew it was the fish from his fish farm. These two could eat anytime, still they stole fish. He found it unbearable.
He made a couple of steps forward, then sprang into the air. Upon seeing him, the two eagles dropped the fish and tried to escape. But it was a bit too late; he stomped on one in the air, then by leveraging himself upward, he reached out and grabbed the one that was flying higher.
As soon as he landed, he saw the two eagles folding their heads and claws, pretending to be dead as if ready to receive any punishment, which made him both laugh and cry.
The two black bears were also trying to escape just now, but they apparently failed to work it out quickly enough. While he was still present, they made an attempt to escape. But clearly, they were asking for a beating!
There’s a saying: don’t hit the diligent, don’t hit the lazy, but strike those who can’t keep their eyes on the ball. This is the right example.
The tigers and black bears were all tied to wooden stakes with an iron chain. At some point, they became smart enough to escape. The forelimbs of these five big guys were extremely flexible, which they usually used for grabbing food. As long as they used their claws to grab the ring, slowly moving it upwards until it reached the top, they could take the iron chain and steal some fish.
They were all thick-skinned and tough, so they weren’t fazed by gentle beatings. Sometimes they didn’t steal fish, but simply lied by the pool watching the fish. When Yan Fei came over, they would play with him, almost becoming mischievous spirits.
After slapping the two golden eagles a few times, he tossed them away. When he looked back, he couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time.
The three tigers lay obediently. On closer inspection, the other ends of the chains were all underneath their bodies rather than tied to the wooden stakes. It was estimated that they all had had a run at some point. They all had innocent looks on their faces, pretending as if nothing had happened. Did they really think that he wouldn’t notice?
Yan Fei ignored them, spun around and entered Dinosaur World. In no time, he returned.
He replaced all five of the wooden stakes with branch-topped ones to prevent them from running away in the future.
He laughed at the sight of the animals’ sullen faces after retying them. Then he decided to let them all loose, then took off his top and tossed it aside. He chose an open space and gestured to the animals.
The animals immediately perked up at the sight of him. Almost simultaneously, they shook their bodies. With a growl, they immediately pounced at him.
An approaching tiger was taller than he was. Before it could swipe at him, he grabbed its upper torso and easily tossed it aside. The two clumsy bears that followed were swiftly kicked away.
The two remaining tigers proved to be formidable, teaming up and launching a cunning sneak attack from the left and right. Two golden eagles overhead seized the opportunity to swoop down.
It was fruitless, though, as he ducked and let one tiger miss, and then, he pushed it directly into the other tiger. The eagles’ sneak attack failed, and when they tried to escape by flying up, Yan Fei leapt high and sent them flying away with a swat of his palms.
The two dogs and several small sable were supporting from the periphery with loud barks and calls. They had the self-awareness to know they were of no use in this battle.
Humbled, the animals woke up from their excited state. They began to pace around Yan Fei, planning surprise attacks.
Gaining momentum, Yan Fei did not wait for their advances, he immediately sprung into action.
Seeing him coming towards them, the two confronting tigers quickly turned to avoid him. Yan Fei, however, spun around swiftly and flung the two approaching black bears away.
Tigers’ roars, bears’ growls, eagles’ cries, dogs’ barks and sables’ whining noises were echoing around the river, traveling far with the river wind.
Now, even the smallest black bear was almost as big as him, and the largest tiger was even heavier by hundreds of catty. Unfortunately, in front of the monster-like Yan Fei, they were all powerless.
In the middle of his merriment, a small sedan slowly drove up.
Seeing the situation, the car suddenly jittered and stalled.
Yan Fei stood still as two black bears embraced his two legs respectively, and two tigers hugged his waist from the left and right. The largest tiger was pushing him hard from behind, not only with its front paws but with its huge head that was larger than Yan Fei’s upper body.
The animals tried their best to push him, while the two golden eagles circled above, seemingly cheering for their brothers below.
The two dogs were the first to notice the approaching people and started barking to alert Yan Fei.
The car door opened, and Xu Xiaoyan got out. She yelled at him, "Yan Xiaofei, we have guests. Hurry up and get dressed!"
Yan Fei immediately recognized their visitor standing behind Xu Xiaoyan. Their guest, dressed in a large white trench coat, was none other than the Sixth Miss Guo from Hong Kong.
The tigers and bears were still trying hard. With a shrug, Yan Fei sent them all tumbling to the ground. The animals wanted to pounce back, but his stern glare stopped them immediately. They followed him obediently to the greenhouse.
He picked up his clothes and put them on, only then noticing that his pants were torn. Shrugging it off, he turned to the handful of approaching people and said, "Welcome, welcome..."
Xu Xiaoyan glared at him, "Is that how you welcome guests? Quickly tie up the tiger."
Along with Xu Xiaoyan and the Sixth Miss Guo, there were two bodyguards and Miss Nana, who had visited once before. The bodyguards, new faces, were looking at him with an incredulous stare from behind their dark glasses, especially at the sight of the bears and tigers. Their bodies were tense as of having seen a monster—the car had stalled precisely because of the shock of the scene they had just witnessed.
The Sixth Miss Guo smiled and said, "We’ve come to check the preparations here. My restaurant is nearly ready, you must keep the supplies coming, otherwise I’ll be doomed!"
While tying up a tiger, Yan Fei responded, "Didn’t you all just come from the cattle farm? didn’t you check? The beef is ready, we can assure you more than enough supply. We are actually planning to find more customers in other places! Don’t just stand there, wife, let’s go inside and get comfortable!"
The small mud house was definitely not suitable for visitors, so they all entered the vegetable greenhouse instead.
Only when he had successfully tethered the bears and tigers did the bodyguards finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Before Miss Xu Xiaoyan could even pour the tea, the Sixth Miss Guo quickly spoke, "To be honest, boss Yan, besides checking on the cattle, we’re here to take refuge for a while. Would you mind accommodating us?"
