Chapter 264: Chapter 124: Hit the Mark Accidentally_1

The procurement process for the school was not as simple as Miss Xu Xiaoyan had believed. Given that only two days had passed, it was only normal that Teacher Chang had not yet received any concrete information.

She was well aware of this, but her impatience had kept her on edge all day, keeping her in a sour mood.

However, her mood improved remarkably thanks to Yan Fei’s ’deceptive’ actions. When she entered the room and saw that Yan Fei had taken the initiative to practice his handwriting in the afternoon, turning in quite a ’productive’ result, she was even more pleased.

After watching her fall asleep, Yan Fei quietly closed the door, deciding against any other activities and resting on the chair next to her bed instead.

The previous night’s bird-hunting escapade had left him a bit tired; it wasn’t as easy as it might seem.

During his search in the wetlands by the reservoir, he had to take turns transforming into a Compsognathus for swift runs, a mini Sarcosuchus for incremental moves, and even a Cinerous vulture for chasing; sometimes, he turned into a Terrestrisuchus causing commotion to startle the resting birds and quickly transformed into a Pterosaur using its enormous black wings to herd the birds from the sky.

The easiest to catch were those with ’duck’ in their names. However, Yan Fei found them too common and hence took up the extra trouble to catch a few other species.

As for how showing these birds to people might go, that was Ma Yongming’s problem, not Yan Fei’s. The two families’ grudges were already set, after all.

Early the next morning, Yan Fei, after seeing off the impatient Miss Xu, resumed his role as a road sweeper, getting ready to ’sweep the roads’ once more.

Dressed in a professionally inconspicuous attire, his luck was not as good as before, though.

Regardless, he was nearing the place where he had eaten last time and still had not encountered his target. From what the corpulent man shared during the previous bus ride, this was just a regular stretch of road. Seeing people disembark, Yan Fei decided to do the same.

Upon getting off the bus, he dashed towards the fields, transforming into a Cinerous vulture and flying back.

The cornstalks in the fields had grown taller, and after a few steps in, it was impossible to see anything from outside. This suited Yan Fei perfectly as he played his Seventy-two changes, all without worrying about being seen.

Not willing to return empty-handed and given he still had some time, he decided to fly home along the road, hoping to cross paths with a roadside thief.

And he did, somehow a fluke.

Not far into the flight, he spotted a few suspicious figures emerging from a recently parked vehicle.

They were suspicious because these men formed a circle at the car door, cursing and quarrelling. One of them even waved a piece of red cloth, laughing and shouting something.

Lowering his altitude, Yan Fei saw clearly what the man was waving - a woman’s underwear.

Three to four more individuals emerged from the car, following which they began kicking and punching a young man, his face red all over.

A woman stood near the car door, cursing at them and calling out to the people inside the vehicle, "Are there no real men among you? Not even one willing to speak out for justice? Are you just going to let these thieves bully people?"

Among the assailants, one retaliated, "The real men are right here! You’ll see what we’re made of soon enough."

As he said this, one of them started moving toward the woman.

Seeing the situation worsen, the woman bit the hand that reached for her and ran back into the vehicle.

Having seen enough, Yan Fei quickly landed in the crop fields by the road, changed back to his disguise and prepared himself.

There were no hay piles for him to hide behind this time, so he smeared his face and hair with mud from the field, took out the prepared wooden stick, rope, and a bundle of practised handwriting papers wrapped in newspaper, and set off.

By the time Yan Fei emerged from the field, the young man, who was being attacked, took advantage of his absence to ’turn the tables’. Wielding a wooden post from somewhere, he shouted, "Come on, all of you! You think you’re tough because you’re more in number? I dare you all to come at me! Even if I take one of you down, I’m breaking even. If I take two, I’ll be ahead!"

The three to four men around him all brought out their knives, scissors and blades, but for the moment, none of them could approach him.

Seeing how the young man was clearly not someone skilful in fighting, his wooden stilt was a bit thick. Judging by his manner of waving it around, it was estimated that he would soon be out of energy.

When Yan Fei stepped out in his outfit, those people all saw him. However, they merely glanced at him and dismissed him immediately, obviously regarding him as someone who was working in the fields.

By the time they realized something was wrong, it was already too late.

Yan Fei jumped over the roadside ditch. He tossed away the rope and newspaper at the roadside, and then a club descended on those few like a torrent of rain.

A few blows and a kick per person, and four were already groaning in agony on the ground after a combination of four moves.

When it was time for him to board the bus, that young man, who was still wielding his wooden club, was completely stunned!

The bus was quite heated at the moment, and Yan Fei moved too quickly. Only a few people in the bus saw the situation outside. At the back of the bus, a woman clung onto a seat, shouting and cursing, while a man was pulling at her.

The guy who was pulling at the woman still spoke up, "Woman, you don’t want to get off, do you? I guess you don’t want that face of yours anymore..."

As he spoke, he waved a small dagger in front of the woman’s face; the threatening gesture was painfully clear.

Several guys were stopping two men from intervening. One man adviced the guy who was messing with the woman, "Gentlemen, let’s let the guy who knocked out your guys have his way. Why don’t we let this woman be? We use this route all the time, and if anything happens, we won’t be able to carry on our business."

Among the two who were being restrained, one became very impatient and swore, "Are you going to let us through or not? Believe it or not, I can make it impossible for you to continue this business right now! I got bitten! We can’t just let this woman off easily, we need to teach her a lesson...Argh..."

Before he finished his words, he screamed in surprise as someone tightened around his neck and pushed him against the window.

Yan Fei took action, catching the arrogant and noisy man. With his other hand, he used the club to open an already-open window fully, and directly hustled the man out of it.

Then, it was the turn of the second man.

He efficiently threw two men out, pushed aside the employee who was trying to stop the fight, and immediately grabbed the hand wielding the dagger. He squeezed and a girlish scream followed.

He too, was thrown out of the bus.

Yan Fei adjusted the straw hat on his head, which was a bit too large, and drooped his head, ignoring the astonished looks from his fellow passengers as he walked towards the exit.

Just then, he saw the young man who was wielding the wooden club, preparing to rush up to play the hero. He was once again standing there in a daze, foolishly still holding his wooden club.

Yan Fei asked him, "Those guys were thieves, weren’t they? How many of them were there altogether?"

The young man finally came to his senses: "They’re not thieves, they’re darn robbers. There were six, no, seven, no... There were three on the bus anyway, and you’ve thrown them all off!"

Yan Fei gave a slight nod: "You better get on the bus."

He turned to the driver again, "Hurry up and drive away, or I’ll smash your damn bus!"

He got off the bus and checked the men who were sprawled on the ground.

Regardless of whether they were the ones who had been beaten up or thrown off the bus, none of them were able to get up.

As soon as Yan Fei got off the bus, the driver came to his senses and urged the young man at the door to go to the back. He hit the door switch without waiting for it to close completely before starting the vehicle.

Yan Fei waited for the bus to go before lifting his club, ready to start calling names.

When the bus was almost out of sight, a person suddenly emerged from the last window of the bus, exposing almost half of her body outside. Her long hair was disheveled by the wind. She waved her hand wildly and shouted towards Yan Fei, "Brother, remember me ah! When we meet again, make sure to call me. I will definitely repay you, remember my name! I am..."

Women are so wordy, by the time she got to the part where she said her name, it was inaudible from this side.
