Chapter 1543: Chapter 741 Buying a Car_2

Professor He didn’t leave without offering some gardening advice after enjoying his tea. Seeing Yan Fei toiling in the courtyard, he immediately suggested, "Stop just planting vegetables. You’re a boss after all. Don’t you know it’s embarrassing? Tonight, I’ll bring you some flowers. You should try planting some flowers and greenery to cultivate your taste!"

Yan Fei agreed readily, promising no problem at all.

After finishing his tea, Professor He left happily with some green vegetables, claiming his own supply had run out—having gotten used to the food in Sancha River, he craved for Yan Fei’s dishes after spending more than a month back in the Provincial City.

Having seen Professor He out, Yan Fei tidied up and went out with his wife.

He was off to buy a car. The two vehicles at home were registered in Wancheng City, so he might as well leave them there. The actual reason was that he felt the two cars were too ostentatious. Now that he was going back to school, he preferred to keep a low profile.

They went to the same dealership where he had serviced his Mercedes Benz S600, firstly because it was nearby, and secondly, although Yan Fei had been driving for a few years, he wasn’t very knowledgeable about cars, so he felt the old one was quite durable and planned to stick with the same brand.

They were greeted by a young girl who came over with a smile and asked, "Would you like to have a look at some cars? Do you have any particular model in mind? If not, may I introduce some to you?"

Yan Fei glanced around and said, "I don’t want the kind with the logo sticking right on top. Introduce me to the rest, please!"

That’s Boss Yan’s idea of ’low profile.’ The Mercedes-Benz he used to drive had a logo with three bars and a circle prominently on the front, which was recognizable from a distance. He thought it was time for a change, to go for a model with a less conspicuous logo.

Hearing his request, the salesgirl probably found it quite amusing, and seeing that the couple appeared different from their peers—influence changes with one’s environment, after all. Not just Yan Fei himself, but even Xu Xiaoyan was a big shot back in Sancha River; it would surprise anyone to think she was once the Xu Family’s Third Miss who used to be pushed around.

The salesgirl was quick-witted and eloquently introduced several models in no time. She then pointed at a car and said, "The cars we offer here are a bit pricier, and the sales volume isn’t high, so there are fewer models available. Most would require pre-ordering and it would take around two months..."

Before she could finish, another salesman in his thirties, who was introducing cars to other customers, came over and greeted Yan Fei loudly from a distance, "Boss Yan, you’re here! Why didn’t you drive your car over?"

Yan Fei chuckled: "You know me?"

"How could I not?" The thirty-something sales manager was very certain. "You’re Boss Yan from Wan City! You’ve been here before for car repairs."

In truth, he hadn’t recalled who Yan Fei was at first glance. But being in sales means one must have keen eyes and a good memory—luxury cars these days are the real deal, a fancy one costs over a million; that’s the price of several houses in the Provincial City. So, their customers are either wealthy or have certain... connections. Regular folks wouldn’t even consider coming in just to look, let alone buy.

There’s even a saying about such bosses: "A meal costs a cow, their bottoms sit on buildings," illustrating the level of spending for the rich and powerful.

The sales manager, having felt the familiarity, immediately jogged his memory and then recognized the excessively young boss, Mr. Yan, who’d come in for servicing his Benz. He quickly abandoned his original customers to come and greet this ’familiar face.’

Yan Fei cracked a smile but did not reply when Xu Xiaoyan voiced her displeasure, "Earlier, this young lady was the one serving us. If we decide to buy a car, should it be counted as her sale?"

Xu Xiaoyan felt sympathy for the salesgirl, who clearly grew distraught when she saw the manager take over, voicing her concern for her.

"Of course, of course!" The sales manager, not a bit embarrassed, laughed and nodded. "I was worried she wouldn’t recognize you, so I came to provide an introduction."

And introduce he did, then assured the young salesgirl on the spot, "You go and brew a pot of tea for Boss Yan. I’ll accompany them for now, and the sale will certainly count as yours."

The little girl immediately bounced off and ran inside. Only then did the manager say, "Boss Yan, feel free to pick any model you like. Actually, transferring cars here doesn’t take that long. Except for a few models, we can transfer from other provincial sales points, and we can pretty much guarantee that customers can drive their new car within a week."

With these words, Yan Fei was relieved and turned to ask his wife, "Which one have you taken a liking to?"

Xu Xiaoyan looked at several cars, hesitating and finding it hard to decide, thinking this one was pretty good, and that one wasn’t bad either. She didn’t understand cars, only judging them by their looks; after all, each had its own merits, making it really hard to decide in a short time.

At her hesitation, the two customers who the sales manager had been originally attending to grew dissatisfied. They walked over and shouted towards them: "Manager Liu, is this how you treat your customers? Leaving halfway through the introduction? What, you think we can’t afford to buy or what?"

The girl instantly felt a bit embarrassed: "Manager Liu, right? You go ahead and take care of the others first! We’ll just take our time looking around..."

"Taking your time, huh? Young people sure are willing to spend their family’s money! Do you know what kind of car this is? Don’t think just because you’re young and ignorant of the hardships of earning money that you can just recklessly spend..." The middle-aged man who had spoken up couldn’t help but add another comment.

Yan Fei glanced at him: "If you have a complaint, just say it. Don’t beat around the bush, or you might bring trouble upon yourself!"

The middle-aged man, who was simply very irritated, regretted his words after he spoke them. But it’s the same old truth; people who aren’t somewhat wealthy wouldn’t even glance at this Mercedes-Benz dealership twice, let alone walk in with the intent to buy. Since they’ve come in with the intention to purchase, they must be somewhat confident.

No matter what business one is in, harmonious relations are prized, and there really aren’t that many people who go around causing trouble everywhere. So, seeing Yan Fei’s unkind words, the middle-aged man opened his mouth but eventually didn’t speak again—he was at fault to begin with, and even if he was angry, he couldn’t let it affect others, right?

However, the young man with him was not pleased. He jumped out and pointed at Yan Fei, shouting: "What’s the matter, kid? How dare you talk to my uncle that way? Do you know who he is? Asking for a beating, are you?"

Yan Fei found it amusing on the spot, having not encountered such a reckless youth in a long while. He was almost nostalgic for the days when he just started his cattle farm, dealing with these reckless youths.

Thinking this way, he didn’t become angry; instead, he turned to the middle-aged man and said, "You see, it doesn’t matter that you spoke out of turn, but with him saying that, if we come to blows later on, it’s just making enemies for no reason! Is buying a car worth all this trouble?"

Manager Liu also felt at fault and his face was flushed red as he kept apologizing to both parties. Seeing Yan Fei’s demeanor, the middle-aged man also felt embarrassed: "Sorry about that, brother, I was too impulsive earlier. I hope you can overlook it."

He then turned to the angry youth, who was puffed up like a fighting rooster, and said: "Alright, look at this brother’s magnanimity. We’ve embarrassed ourselves enough today, go ahead and apologize to this brother, we should hurry back to looking at cars!"

Because of this delay, Xu Xiaoyan had made her decision and pointed at a car saying, "How about that one?"

Yan Fei hesitated for a moment: "Alright, then that one it is."

Manager Liu immediately pulled a long face: "That model requires a two-month wait!"

Xu Xiaoyan, upon hearing this, changed her target immediately. Originally she had been indecisive, and now she had a reason and quickly switched to another model: "What about this one?"

Manager Liu’s face grew even longer: "Your taste is really good, these two models are the only ones we require to pre-order and they have to be shipped from overseas."

Yan Fei looked at his wife feeling slightly embarrassed but then burst into laughter: "Then just pick another one, and drive that one for now. If you really want it, we can pre-order that one too, having an extra car around won’t be a problem."

The two who were choosing cars on the other side heard this and were momentarily dumbstruck, to buy several cars at once? Thinking about it, they were really lucky today, lucky things didn’t escalate earlier...
