Chapter 1003: Chapter 533: Not Interesting_2
The tiger and black bear both looked lazily content. Only Bear Da and Bear Er would stand up to enthusiastically greet Yan Fei upon his return. The several tigers didn’t even bother to move, just growling a couple of times from their throats to express their welcome to their returning owner. As for the two Golden Eagles, they were perched on the roof like sculptures, not even bothering to make a sound.
It was no wonder. As soon as Yan Fei returned, these critters had a joyous romp in the dinosaur world. After a hunting spree, and gorging themselves on dinosaur flesh, it’d be odd if they felt like moving much.
Upon seeing this, Chen He suddenly got spirited and said carelessly, "Watch me, I’m not afraid at all!"
A person behind Wang Jiuming immediately scoffed, "Of course you’re not afraid if it doesn’t bite you, and if it bites you, you won’t need to be afraid anymore. With your tiny frame, one bite and your little life would be over. You’ll certainly never know what fear is again!"
The one speaking worked at the Provincial Agricultural Supplies Company and was Chen He’s cousin. Judging by his demeanor, he likely held a minor leadership position at the company. But since everyone was there to socialize and have fun, their specific statuses weren’t detailed.
Besides him and Wang Jiuming, the remaining three or four were a bit younger and clearly the playful type. However, they were all quite reserved, particularly since it was their first meeting with Yan Fei, so they didn’t talk much.
Truth be told, no matter the age, everyone has a playful heart. These people, whether working or doing business in Provincial City, were caught up in the rat race. Their leisure and entertainment were quite scarce. Hearing Wang Jiuming mumbling on the phone about someone wanting to pit a Tibetan Mastiff against a tiger, they were intrigued and dropped whatever they were doing to come over without a second thought.
Yan Fei’s small house certainly wasn’t suited for hosting guests, so he led them into the former vegetable greenhouse. The interior had been split in two; most of it was being used to cultivate mushrooms, and a smaller section was Yan Fei’s own vegetable garden cum living room where he grew various fruits and vegetables. It was convenient for the staff to eat and served to disguise the fact that he was bringing fresh vegetables from the dinosaur world.
Sitting in this cozy little vegetable garden with a cup of hot tea, the sensation was indescribable—especially for those who had always been in Provincial City, this pastoral pleasure was something they longed for.
The others were content sipping tea. The young people with Chen He initially appeared composed, probably feeling superior due to good family backgrounds and being from Provincial City, and they maintained a certain distance from Yan Fei, this rural entrepreneur.
However, upon seeing the few tigers, they couldn’t stay composed. They began questioning Yan Fei alongside Chen He with great interest about these fierce animals. Chen He even voiced his concern, "Yan Fei, I see your tigers are big, but they don’t seem very lively?"
Yan Fei chuckled, "Just wait until this morning when they bring over the Tibetan Mastiffs. Then you’ll see." He then brushed off the question with a laugh.
Joking aside, they hadn’t seen the tigers hunting dinosaurs; otherwise, they wouldn’t claim the animals lacked spirit.
Even the mother tiger from the zoo was initially irritated by two of the younger and more mischievous tigers. But once she entered the dinosaur world and saw her own species, the black bears, wolves, and even the two Golden Eagles from above, all pouncing on their prey, her latent ferocity was triggered, and she rushed to the forefront.
In just two days, there was a noticeable change in the mother tiger’s vitality.
Although she was a little undersized due to poor nutrition from an early age, she was beginning to show the majesty of a fierce tiger. Of course, in Yan Fei’s territory, she really couldn’t assert much dominance, with even the wolves that regularly participated in the hunts outshining her in ferocity and intimidation.
Be it humans or animals, the living environment is incredibly important.
Some household dogs are bigger than wolves, aren’t they? But in a real fight, most dogs would likely be no match for a wolf. Guard dogs are meant to watch over homes, but here with Yan Fei, the guard dogs were capable of hunting dinosaurs alongside tigers and bears, certainly more ferocious than wolves.
Still, the old saying goes, no matter how fierce they are, in Yan Fei’s place, they are all just pets, not much different from another kind of dog that city dwellers now like to keep—Pekingese.
Chen He and the others thought the tigers lacked spirit partly because of the nature of fierce beasts.
It’s well known that if a powerful predator lives in the center of a forest, the creatures nearest its dwelling are bound to be the weakest in the area. The more threatening ones are chased further away. This is to ensure that once it has offspring, they can grow up in peace and security.
For instance, around a pride of lions, you might find rabbits and mice, but hyenas and leopards would definitely need to stay further away.
Simply put, predators are willing to coexist peacefully with those animals that pose no threat to them—possibly considering them as ’snacks’ for days when prey is scarce. Even though these ’snacks’ might be small, they still have some meat, don’t they?
For Tiger Da and the others, aside from Yan Fei’s constant ’gentle persuasion,’ they also felt these unfamiliar humans posed no threat, so they showed no signs of hostility—while the tiger from the zoo was rather bullied by the other lads.
Of course, fierce animals won’t bare their teeth at creatures that pose no threat to them because a simple swat of their paw could easily squash them dead.
