Chapter 94: Chapter 106: I Don’t Know You Well (7)
Six years ago, she lived in the Smith Family household, surrounded by many servants, never doing such things.
Six years later, she lived alone in the United States, mostly eating fast food and rarely washing plates and bowls.
So when Isabel Smith was pouring detergent, she poured a bit too much, and once the water hit, the sink immediately filled with white foam.
Percy Stanton had just finished wiping the dining table and entered the kitchen when he saw Isabel Smith struggling against a sink full of white foam.
Isabel Smith was very focused, and the sound of water splashing didn’t alert her to Percy Stanton standing beside her.
Percy didn’t offer to help; he just leaned against the door and watched Isabel, his posture relaxed.
Percy had seen various versions of Isabel Smith - the arrogant version, the willful version, the pure version, and the goddess version. But he had never seen this domestic side of her. The scene wasn’t particularly beautiful, as Isabel’s dish-washing technique made one wish to intervene, but Percy found it incredibly pleasing to the eye.
In that moment, the 24-year-old Percy suddenly had a longing for a family.
Even though he had to raise Raymond Thompson, he never wanted a family or even imagined what a family would look like.
But now, standing here, watching Isabel’s clumsy attempts at washing dishes, he visualized a home with her.
That home wasn’t big, but it was warm. He, she, and Raymond would live there, with afternoon sunlight streaming in quietly. Raymond would play games, Isabel would wash dishes, and he would watch just like now.
It seemed like a scene that could be found in every household, pure and ordinary, but Percy felt it was the most brilliant beauty in the human world.
Actually, a family was simple. Just a man, a woman, a love story, her washing dishes, and him watching and occasionally helping.
Percy slowly became entranced, standing there motionless for a long time. Isabel eventually finished with the sinkful of dishes but was unsure about where to put them. Percy stepped forward and naturally took the clean tableware from her hands.
Isabel was startled by Percy’s sudden appearance but quickly returned to her natural state, continuing to rinse the remaining dishes. As she finished, Percy would take them, and the two of them cooperated seamlessly in putting the dishes and utensils back in their original places.
When they had finished, Isabel pulled a napkin from the side and handed it to Percy, then took another one for herself to dry her hands.
As Percy wiped his hands, his eyes glanced at Isabel’s face and saw that some detergent foam had stuck to her hair and brows. He naturally raised his hand and gently brushed the foam from her hair.
Isabel looked up, her eyes questioning Percy, not understanding the meaning behind his action.
Percy wiped the foam off his finger with a paper tissue, then reached out again toward Isabel’s brow.
When Isabel saw the wiped-off foam, she understood everything. As Percy’s hand approached her brow again, she subconsciously raised her hand to touch her brow. In that instant, Percy’s hand followed and gently pressed onto hers.
