Chapter 122: Chapter 134: Dad, You Liar (3)

She had become accustomed to Percy’s frequent outbursts of anger, so she simply turned her head and stopped speaking.

The car drove silently to the parking lot below the apartment building. Percy’s expression remained grim, not giving Isabel even a glance, quickly picking up the packages from the back seat, locking the car, and heading for the elevator.

Fortunately, there were a few other people in the elevator, so Isabel felt that the atmosphere between them was less awkward. As they reached their floor, as soon as the elevator door opened, Isabel saw Raymond Thompson waiting at the elevator entrance.

Raymond had already called Percy, knowing that he was on his way home, so he was kicking a leather ball while waiting for Percy in the corridor.

Unexpectedly, the elevator door opened, and Raymond saw Isabel before he saw Percy. He immediately dropped the ball in his hand and clung to Isabel, calling her sweetly, "Sister Isabel."

Isabel bent down and touched Raymond’s head: "Raymond, what are you doing here?"

"I’m waiting for my dad.." Raymond’s words were cut off halfway as he saw Percy coming out of the elevator. His innocent and beautiful eyebrows furrowed as he looked warily at Percy, then looked back at Isabel and asked, "Sister Isabel, were you out with my dad?"

Percy stood in front of Raymond with bundles in his hands, not saying anything.

Isabel said, "Your dad and I went to the shopping mall to buy you some clothes and toys."

Raymond’s anxious expression instantly turned to joy, his eyes shining brightly as he asked Isabel, "Did Sister Isabel buy them for me?"

"No, your dad bought them, but I picked some of them." Isabel felt embarrassed about claiming that she had picked everything so she was a bit more discreet.

"It doesn’t matter, as long as Sister Isabel chose them, I like them all." Raymond cheekily complimented and then took Isabel’s hand, walked to Percy’s side, reached out and began to search through the packages, asking Isabel which ones she picked.

Percy, somewhat impatient with his son rummaging through the bags, stuffed all of Raymond’s items into his hands and said, "Raymond, take these things to your room first. Sister Isabel and I have work-related matters to discuss."

Although Raymond was young, he was quite sensible. On hearing the seriousness in Percy’s tone, he immediately obeyed and carried the bundles to the door of his home. While walking, he turned to look back at Isabel and said, "Sister Isabel, after you finish talking about work, remember to come and find me."

Percy still held the bags with Isabel’s clothes, nodded his chin towards the door, and said, "Let’s go in and talk. I’ll discuss with you the large-scale cooperation plan I made for Smith Corporation."

One second he was angry, and the next second he wanted to talk about work.

As the saying goes, a woman’s heart is like a needle at the bottom of the ocean. But Isabel truly felt that Percy’s heart was even more elusive than that.

...

Isabel followed Percy into his study. Percy gestured for Isabel to sit on the sofa and went to pour two glasses of water, placing them on the tea table in front of the sofa. He then picked up the documents related to Smith Corporation that he had been studying for several days and placed them in front of Isabel: "I’ve read all these documents. I’ve also analyzed the companies that Smith Corporation has worked with in the past. I’ve marked some we can continue to cooperate with, and crossed out those I don’t think are necessary."

Isabel listened to Percy’s words and flipped through the documents, where the man’s vigorous and elegant handwriting had clearly indicated the merits of each company.
