Chapter 121: Chapter 133: Dad, you’re a liar (2)

Percy Stanton’s face was light as he took out the card he had just used to pay for Isabel Smith’s Chanel clothes from his wallet and handed it to the saleswoman. He settled the bill and waited for the saleswoman to pack the items before carrying them and leaving the shopping mall with Isabel Smith.

When shopping, time always seemed to fly by quickly. It was only after they finished that Isabel realized that nearly two hours had passed unconsciously.

They returned along the same path to the parking lot, where Percy waited for Isabel to get in the car before opening the rear car door and placing the items on the back seat. He then got into the car himself.

Although Isabel appeared to be aloof, she had become somewhat delicate and sensitive after the death of both her parents. This was her second time riding in Percy’s car, but she noticed that a calm Percy would always respectfully open the car door for her first and wait for her to get in before doing anything else.

This gesture was quite common, but among the many men Isabel knew, very few could do it.

Isabel, looking at Percy through the rearview mirror, was slightly lost in thought as he focused on driving.

The truth was that this man was truly outstanding. If he hadn’t been by her side this afternoon, she might have had a terrible encounter with Evelyn Osbert who was with Elijah Smith.

Thinking of this, Isabel couldn’t help but turn her head to look at Percy’s side profile, saying, "Thank you for today."

Percy, who was driving, was suddenly surprised by Isabel’s words and took a moment to process what she meant.

His mood suddenly filled with joy.

Although the traffic in Bellshire City was heavy at the moment, he felt that it was still a beautiful time to be in the car, moving forward and stopping amidst the hustle and bustle.

Speaking of gratitude, Isabel thought of the nearly 20 million gift.

She knew that Percy made a name for himself in the Bellshire business circle over the past few years, but she had also seen reports saying that his salary wasn’t very high.

His spending this afternoon to save her face was considerable, and now he had a child to take care of as well. Isabel felt somewhat sorry for him.

Though it hurt to think of the more than 18 million, she still smiled at Percy, saying, "I’ll slowly pay you back for that money."

Percy frowned, a trace of discontent flashing through his brow. The joy in his heart, like a just-ignited flame, was suddenly extinguished by a bucket of cold water.

Focusing on the road ahead, Percy’s tone became colder, "No need, consider it my gift to you." He paused, then added, "It’s a thank you gift for sending Raymond Thompson to the hospital that day."

Isabel had received gifts before, but she had never received such a valuable and satisfying gift.

There was no woman who didn’t love vanity or crave such satisfaction.

If they were boyfriend and girlfriend, Isabel thought, her accepting it would have been more justifiable. But what was she to Percy?

Neither a mistress nor a sugar baby, just a sleeping partner with whom he could help her out under an agreement...

Therefore, after thinking it through, Isabel felt somewhat unworthy of the more than 10 million gift. She spoke in a tactful and understated tone, "Taking Raymond to the hospital was just a simple favor, you don’t need to thank me specially."

Percy knew that Isabel was rejecting him from the tone of her voice but said nothing. He looked at her twice while driving, and his expression grew colder, making the atmosphere in the car suddenly plunge.

Isabel was good at reading people’s emotions and could tell that Percy was upset.
