Chapter 587: Chapter 0589: The Mastermind Behind the Scenes [Part 2]

Chu Feng threw the National Security Agent back onto the chair, who then let out a sigh of relief.

The killing intent emanating from Chu Feng had truly made him feel suffocated.

He had no doubt that had he uttered half a word of dissent, Chu Feng would have definitely killed him.

"Can we talk now?" Chu Feng said after a while.

"It was the Shangguan Family who instructed me to do this," the National Security Agent said.

After hearing the National Security Agent, Chu Feng’s eyes turned cold as he said, "I should have known, how could there be so many coincidences in this world? I come to Yanjing, Bai Jiahang also comes to Yanjing. Upon arriving, getting captured, how could all this be coincidental?"

Huang Lan said, "The Shangguan Family indeed has people holding high positions in the National Security."

Chu Feng said, "Then this matter definitely can’t be ignored. We’ll go directly to the Shangguan Family to demand people."

Huang Lan said, "We can’t do that. Merely based on his one-sided story, we can’t just go knocking on their door demanding people. Even if we did demand, the Shangguan Family might not agree, and it could even be detrimental to Qin Mei. After all, we haven’t confirmed Qin Mei’s location yet. We need to determine exactly who in the Shangguan Family is giving the orders."

Chu Feng said, "I think I know who it is."

"Who is it?" Huang Lan asked.

Chu Feng said, "Shangguan Wan’s father, the future father-in-law of Bai Jiahang. Didn’t we receive news on the road that Shangguan Wan’s father had left the Shangguan Family? Do you think a person who once possessed a huge fortune would easily give up the wealth in his hands?"

Chu Feng paused and then said, "Of course, there is also this possibility, but the precondition is, he has found a tool to capture even more wealth. The Holy Stele Project is obviously his stepping stone to more wealth. Given the death of Jin Yu’s father, the Holy Stele can be said to be ownerless. After all, the true mastermind behind it has not come forward, so it is considered ownerless. An energy source that could bring such huge profits, I think no one would be unmoved."

Huang Lan, upon hearing Chu Feng’s analysis, said, "It should be like this. According to the situation we currently have, the forces behind the Holy Stele are very vast, even above the Shangguan Family. And the reason why no major families have interfered is because of this person hidden in the shadows. Now that he is not coming out, evidently he has tacitly agreed to this struggle."

Chu Feng said, "So, they teamed up to set up this situation. And I think, after several tests of the person truly in control, once they were sure he would allow such events to unfold, that’s when they chose to make their move."

Huang Lan said, "So now we just need to find Shangguan Wan’s father."

"Yes," Chu Feng nodded.

Chu Feng paused, suddenly thought of something, and said, "Finding him is not enough. They’ve tormented me this long, if I don’t make them pay a bit of a price, my efforts are too cheap."

"What do you want to do?" Huang Lan asked.

Chu Feng said, "Hasn’t the General Captain already started taking action to clean house? If we’re cleaning up, then let’s expand the scope a bit more. Dragon Soul alone, how could that be enough? National Security and many other places are all very much worth cleaning."

Upon hearing Chu Feng’s words, Huang Lan was shaken and said, "Chu Feng, if it’s like this, it will cause an earthquake in Yanjing."

Chu Feng sneered and said, "They’ve tormented me this long, not giving them a good shake wouldn’t be showing respect for the long journey I’ve covered. Besides, I will eventually step foot in Yanjing again, and I don’t want a repeat of this incident."

Huang Lan looked at Chu Feng and felt that Chu Feng was indeed becoming more mature and more decisive. Truly like a general, not a child anymore.

Of course, having gone through so much, Qin Mei had accumulated more and more enemies. If Chu Feng did not grow with the situation, he would eventually be devoured by his enemies, bones and all.

To accomplish such a thing, Huang Lan and Chu Feng alone were definitely not enough.

Chu Feng directly made a call to Huang Jianye.

"Elder Huang, I have a National Security agent here. He holds the evidence of the Shangguan Family’s kidnapping. I’ll send him to you. Consider this my contribution to the country. They’ve already used their Death Exemption Token once, haven’t they?" Chu Feng said.

Huang Jianye said, "Good, send him over to me. On the soil of Huaxia, having a Death Exemption Token doesn’t work if you violate the law."

Chu Feng knew that, although Huang Jianye didn’t mention the previous incident, it still stuck in his throat like a fishbone. Now Chu Feng was just going with the flow.

"This kind of intrigue is better left to the big shots. I’d rather live my simple life and go after my direct enemies," Chu Feng told Huang Lan.

"I’ve already had people searching for Shangguan Wan’s father’s whereabouts. I believe we’ll have a reply very soon," Huang Lan said.

Chu Feng said, "Can you ascertain the whereabouts of my sister-in-law?"

Huang Lan said, "We’ve spotted the target and have already locked on to them. The enemy always thinks they are smarter than us. But they never see that Dragon Soul is always one step ahead of them. They think hiding in the sea and moving quickly will save them, but as long as they don’t leave Earth, Dragon Soul can lock on to them."

Chu Feng laughed and said, "Then it seems I don’t need to keep acting. Sometimes, pretending to be angry or to lose reason is very painful. I am by nature calm and level-headed, so pretending to lose my sanity is quite difficult."

Huang Lan gave Chu Feng a sideways glance and said, "Keep bragging. If it weren’t for me saying that Dragon Soul’s new technology could track high-speed targets, you wouldn’t have calmed down so quickly."

Chu Feng chuckled and did not argue.

Back in the days of Dragon Soul, Huang Lan had already told Chu Feng about Dragon Soul’s latest tracking technology.

However, Chu Feng had to be cautious about eavesdroppers. If he appeared too calm, it might arouse the enemy’s suspicion, which would be of no benefit to Qin Mei at all.

Acting was sufficient—they knew how to act, and Chu Feng’s acting skills were even more superb, climax upon climax, and extremely realistic too.

"Do you think my acting skills could win me an Oscar?" Chu Feng said.

Huang Lan gave Chu Feng a sideways glance and said, "You and an Oscar? Do you think you have the looks for it?"

The National Security agent stood there, baffled. He could not have imagined that all of Chu Feng’s fervent actions were just an act and that even he had been deceived. Even when alone, Chu Feng’s performance was utterly convincing.

"What are you looking at? Do you think I would place all my hopes on just one person? I never believe that bad guys will keep their word," Chu Feng said.

After speaking, Chu Feng found a listening device on the National Security agent, then crushed it.

"They should have heard that by now. Send someone to follow them. They will surely go to pick up my sister-in-law. They won’t kill while the object isn’t in their possession," Chu Feng told Huang Lan.

Huang Lan said, "Someone has already been sent."
