Chapter 48: Chapter 0048: Passing the Test
The lady spoke with a hint of grievance, "You’ve just forgotten about me after I helped you not long ago. It’s truly disheartening."
"Are you from Dragon Soul?" Chu Feng could only think of the lady helping him against Liu Tianming.
The lady smiled gently, "Smart kid."
"Congratulations, young man. You’ve successfully passed the test and are now a member of Dragon Soul," the lady said.
Seeing no reaction from Chu Feng, the lady looked puzzled and said, "Aren’t you supposed to be excited? Not just anyone can join Dragon Soul; it’s a supreme honor."
Chu Feng responded coldly, "Was everything just now a test you set up for me?"
The lady, facing Chu Feng’s icy expression, said, "Of course, what did you think? That Dragon Soul would just let anyone in?"
Chu Feng said angrily, "So, Dragon Soul recruits by risking people’s lives in tests? Do you know that if I hadn’t been able to handle that Black Bear, I could have fallen from the twenty-first floor? This was no test; it was attempted murder!"
The lady giggled, "Little brother, you’re quite interesting. Come here, and I’ll show you something nice."
Chu Feng approached the lady, and she quickly grabbed his hand and said, "What are you afraid of? Are you scared I might take advantage of you or devour you?"
The lady, holding Chu Feng’s hand, dragged him to the edge of the building, then casually tossed her pad downwards.
The pad rapidly fell but suddenly bounced back up around the tenth floor.
Chu Feng’s gaze sharpened, and he saw it clearly. There was an invisible protective net around the tenth floor.
In other words, even if he had fallen, there wouldn’t have been any problem.
The lady said, "See? We don’t play jokes with people’s lives."
With these words from the lady, Chu Feng’s anger subsided somewhat, but he couldn’t forgive them for using his sister-in-law to threaten him, even though he was extremely interested in Dragon Soul’s power and resources.
"Can you show a bit of happiness now?" the lady asked.
Chu Feng turned to leave and said, "I’m not interested."
The lady seemed to have anticipated his reaction and said softly, "Don’t you want to know about your older brother’s situation?"
"What did you say?" Chu Feng turned around, furious like a lion.
Seeing Chu Feng’s bloodshot eyes, the lady said, "Why are you shouting so loudly? You frightened me. Apologize right now, or I won’t remember anything."
"Huff!"
Chu Feng immediately tried to grab the lady, aiming to restrain her and force the information out of her.
"Whoosh!"
The lady adeptly dodged by stepping aside, making it impossible for Chu Feng to even touch her.
"This movement technique is from my master," Chu Feng said with a frown as he watched the lady evade.
"It’s your master’s movement technique. Tributor Zhang taught it to me. How well do you think I’m using it?" the lady replied with a hint of pride.
"Hmph!"
Chu Feng snorted coldly and then used the same movement technique, his hands moving like the wind.
The lady dodged skillfully in a series of movements, hinting to Chu Feng that she too was a Yellow Level Expert, and not inferior to him.
"Tired! Tired! I don’t want to play anymore," the lady, chased endlessly by Chu Feng, said feeling a bit annoyed.
"Only those within Dragon Soul can know about your brother’s situation. If you want to know, you have to join Dragon Soul," the lady said.
Chu Feng nodded, "Fine! I’ll join."
The lady smiled slightly, "Then show a bit of happiness."
Chu Feng squeezed out a reluctant smile, "Is that better?"
"That’s pretty good. You are now a member of Dragon Squad Seven. Here’s your ID, keep it safe. You won’t have to use Tributor Zhang’s ID to bluff anymore," the lady said.
Chu Feng took his ID, knowing this had all been arranged beforehand, although these were not his current concerns.
What Chu Feng most wanted to know was about his older brother.
"Can you tell me about my older brother now?" Chu Feng asked.
"You’re not ranked high enough yet to know. When you reach the required rank, I’ll tell you," the lady said.
"You’re playing games with me!" Chu Feng’s expression darkened.
The lady replied, "Why are you so agitated? There are laws in our nation and rules in our family. You are indeed not ranked high enough, so I cannot tell you. Moreover, it’s also what your master wanted; he doesn’t want you to act rashly after learning the truth, as it would be more harmful than helpful to you."
After a pause, the lady said, "Tributor Zhang really cares about you a lot. To help you take revenge, Tributor Zhang provided a set of hand techniques and instructed Dragon Soul to fully investigate your older brother’s case, and even to offer you all possible support during your revenge."
Hearing the lady’s words, Chu Feng felt a warmth in his heart. Tributor Zhang Shisan had always been very good to him; despite being strict during training, he was utterly unreserved when it came to helping him.
"What level do I need to reach to know about my older brother?" Chu Feng still wanted to know, despite everything.
"Below a Tributor in Dragon Soul, there are five levels. Your brother’s case is classified as Level Five secret. Apart from the General Captain and the Tributors, no one else is allowed access," the lady said.
"What is your level?" Chu Feng asked.
"I am Level Four," the lady replied.
After a moment, the lady continued, "Truthfully, if Tributor Zhang had not told us to investigate your brother’s case, we wouldn’t have realized the deep secrets behind it. It was immediately classified as a Level Five secret, and if we continue investigating, the classification might even rise higher."
Hearing this, Chu Feng’s frown deepened, "I want to know, what exactly is a Level Five secret?"
The lady thought for a moment, "It’s comparable to a national secret."
After a pause, the lady said, "Basically, it’s the highest level, and that’s all you need to know."
