Chapter 441: Chapter 0442 Accidental Encounter

Eventually, Chu Feng’s reason triumphed over the evil thoughts, catching everything tossed his way firmly in his hands.

Chu Feng’s thoughts were pure, if something fell to the ground it would get dirty, and then they might not want it anymore. That would be wasteful and absolutely intolerable.

"Good, not a single one dropped to the ground, money saved," Chu Feng said while sneaking glances and feigning relief as he patted his chest.

"Get out!"

The five women yelled in unison.

"If I’m to leave, then I’ll leave. What’s with all the yelling?" Chu Feng stole a couple more glances before turning around, stepping out, and closing the door behind him.

"Uh, this is for you guys," Chu Feng walked a couple of steps, then with a flick of his wrist, he threw everything he held back to them.

Chu Feng’s toss was as if it had eyes, flying straight into the hands of its owner.

But as soon as Chu Feng had turned to leave, he realized he had made a critical mistake. How could he have lost control and assigned a sequence to the items?

By doing so, hadn’t he blatantly told them that he knew which item belonged to whom?

With this, no matter how he tried to explain, it would probably be impossible to clear things up.

"Hey, how did you know who everything belonged to?" Fan Xiaoxiao asked with confusion.

The other four women exchanged glances, caught a hint of embarrassment in each other’s eyes, and wisely chose to remain silent.

An hour later, the six of them set out together to do their New Year’s shopping.

Chu Feng and An Rongrong walked hand in hand at the back. Fan Xiaoxiao originally wanted to join them, but Fang Ting sternly stopped her, so Fan Xiaoxiao gave up the idea.

"How did you figure it out all at once? Don’t tell me it was just a coincidence," An Rongrong whispered threateningly, pinching Chu Feng’s waist.

"Umm, this, this really was just a coincidence. You’ve guessed it already, haven’t you?" Chu Feng stuttered in his explanation.

An Rongrong applied a bit more pressure with her hand and said, "Do you think I’m a three-year-old child?"

Chu Feng laughed awkwardly and said, "This... this... Well, you know, since we live together, and then when doing laundry or something, couldn’t I have seen it? And then by using the process of elimination, couldn’t I have figured out all the rest?"

An Rongrong’s grip loosened a little as she said, "I’ll let you off the hook this time, seeing as the New Year is coming. I won’t lower myself to your level."

Five beauties shopping together was bound to attract attention. Especially when each of them possessed their unique charms. Together, they were enough to capture every male gaze in an instant.

"Rongrong, let’s shop together. We can just let the boss follow us on his own," Fan Xiaoxiao took the initiative to invite An Rongrong.

"Sure!" An Rongrong agreed excitedly, then decisively left Chu Feng to start a shopping spree with Cui Jingyan and the others.

Chu Feng, finding it meaningless to follow behind, decisively went to a café to get some coffee.

Chu Feng didn’t like coffee, but there were no teahouses available.

Chu Feng had only just sat down in the café for a short while when he saw a familiar silhouette.

Xue Yafang was busy with the coffee in her hands, obviously not noticing Chu Feng.

At Xue Yafang’s table, there were six people in total, two of whom seemed to be her parents. Chu Feng didn’t recognize the other three individuals.

However, two of them clearly had a familial relation to Xue Yafang’s family, but as for the young man with the arrogant look and a wolfish gleam in his eyes when he looked at Yafang, Chu Feng had no idea who he was.

Xue Yafang hadn’t noticed Chu Feng, so naturally, he felt it inappropriate to take the initiative to greet her.

"Yafang, this Young Master Kong’s father is none other than the head of personnel at the Finance Bureau, Director Kong’s son. Whether in terms of character or family background, he is top-notch. Your aunt really went to great lengths to invite Young Master Kong today, and you should get close to him. Maybe after graduation, you might even be able to go straight into the Finance Bureau," Xue Yafang’s aunt said enthusiastically.

Hearing the aunt’s words, Kong Jun’ai modestly smiled and said, "Aunt Wu, you flatter me too much, my dad won’t become a director until next year. Besides, joining the Finance Bureau requires passing an exam, and it’s not something my dad can decide alone. Of course, if someone does pass the exam, with Uncle Xue’s situation, my dad certainly can have a say."

Xue Yafang’s aunt, with a sycophantic smile, said, "This year, next year, it’s all the same, sooner or later that director’s position is yours. Besides, even if one really doesn’t pass the exam, couldn’t Director Kong make things easier?"

Kong Jun’ai repeatedly waved his hands saying, "Aunt Wu, we really shouldn’t speak carelessly about such matters."

After a pause, Kong Jun’ai arrogantly said, "However, if the score is just slightly off, my dad probably can figure out a way."

"Yafang, you should get to know Young Master Kong better. Not only will your dad’s job be secure, but your future work will be taken care of too. Maybe your aunt might even benefit from your connection someday," Xue Yafang’s aunt said, trying her best to play matchmaker.

But Xue Yafang showed nearly no interest in this matchmaking attempt. She had absolutely no interest in this so-called Young Master Kong.

It was as if Xue Yafang hadn’t heard her aunt’s words at all, just fiddling with her coffee, head bowed.

Seeing this attitude from Yafang, her aunt’s face betrayed a trace of displeasure.

A hint of irritation crossed Young Master Kong’s face as well. Although he wasn’t from the very top echelon of East River’s second-generation officials, his father was a significant figure in the city’s Finance Bureau. So even the children of some county mayors and party secretaries showed him respect.

Yet here was Xue Yafang, a woman with no background or pedigree, disregarding him completely.

If it were anyone else, they probably would’ve stripped naked and thrown themselves into his bed by now.

However, seeing Xue Yafang’s figure, which could rival that of a model, Kong Jun’ai managed to suppress the urge to lash out.

"Big brother, big sister, Young Master Kong was not easy for Elder He and me to invite. Is this how you treat guests? Do you really want to waste the effort it took for big brother to secure his position at the Finance Bureau?" Xue Yafang’s aunt said.

"I earned my place there through my own merit, without the need for any backdoors. I trust in my own ability," Xue Yafang’s father said, clearly an honest and upright man.

"Uncle, such things shouldn’t be said so carelessly. Passing an exam and getting in are completely different concepts. There are countless applications submitted every day to a hot department like the Finance Bureau. As for those who pass the exams, the number who still need to submit applications is even greater. So, passing the exam is just that, passing, and it doesn’t guarantee anything," Kong Jun’ai said proudly and defiantly.
