Chapter 394: Chapter 0395: A Different Kind of Female Assassin
After a grueling thirteen-hour flight, He Sheng’s private jet landed in Gambling City, USA.
This was the venue for the competition, and as soon as Chu Feng and his associates had stabilized, they saw the four Mahjong players already waiting at the airport.
He Sheng was taking this competition extremely seriously, hence he brought all his top experts with him. It was not easy to have Chu Feng participate, and if he won, He Sheng’s personal wealth and global influence would multiply significantly.
"Boss, Mr. Chu," Mahjong called out respectfully along with his three brothers.
He Sheng asked, "How are the arrangements?"
Mahjong replied, "Boss, everything has been arranged. We have the local major powers for security, in addition to our own forces, so nothing should go wrong. We’ve also visited the local officials. No one should cause us any trouble officially."
Hearing Mahjong’s words, He Sheng nodded in satisfaction and said, "Take us to the hotel first."
"Okay." Mahjong nodded, then drove Chu Feng to the hotel they had booked.
At the hotel, He Sheng took the initiative to explain to Chu Feng, "Although Baile Palace isn’t the newest hotel in Gambling City, it’s definitely the safest. Its behind-the-scenes owner is the head of the USA gambling association and also the biggest underground Emperor in Gambling City. Plus, the competition is being held on his turf, so there’s absolutely no need to worry about security."
Chu Feng nodded but didn’t say anything.
Once in his room, Chu Feng took out his phone to report his safe arrival to Qin Mei and others, and he called An Rongrong as well, then prepared to rest for a bit.
The lengthy flight had left Chu Feng feeling somewhat fatigued. After all, he hadn’t yet reached the stage where he could go without sleep.
Chu Feng’s way of resting wasn’t to sleep but to sit cross-legged on the floor cultivating.
Chu Feng was aware there were surveillance cameras in the room, but he didn’t mind. If they wanted to monitor, they couldn’t stop him from sitting on the floor.
After three rounds of cultivation, Chu Feng’s fatigue was swept away, and he opened his eyes, his spirit adjusted to its highest state.
A knock on the door sounded, and Chu Feng went to open it, seeing Mahjong standing respectfully at his door.
"Mr. Chu, the boss invites you to join him for dinner," Mahjong said respectfully.
"Alright!"
Chu Feng agreed, closed his door, and followed Mahjong out.
After dining with He Sheng, He Sheng asked, "Would you like to check out the venue for the competition the day after tomorrow, or perhaps warm up a bit?"
Chu Feng said, "No need. I think everyone is very curious about my identity right now, wanting to know exactly who I am. There’s no need for me to act according to their wishes and expose myself. Let them be anxious and curious a little longer."
He Sheng heard Chu Feng’s words, nodded, and said, "That’s good too, let them rush to investigate."
Just then, a subordinate rushed in and whispered a few words into He Sheng’s ear.
Upon hearing his subordinate’s words, He Sheng’s expression changed and he asked, "Have people been sent to look for her?"
"They’ve been arranged, but this isn’t our turf, so we can’t be too overt," the subordinate said apologetically.
Hearing this, He Sheng frowned and said, "I will negotiate with the owner here. You guys keep an eye on all the exits. Don’t let her escape."
"Yes, boss," the subordinate replied and then turned to leave.
After giving these orders, He Sheng also said to Chu Feng, "Little Friend Chu, my subordinates were incompetent. The woman you had captured has slipped away."
"She escaped?" Chu Feng was somewhat surprised when he heard He Sheng’s words.
The secretary had been closely watched by He Sheng’s men, and with the addition of Dice and his group, the fact that she could still escape proved she had some real skills.
Moreover, her resilience was quite strong. Likely, she had not been treated lightly by He Sheng’s men on the plane. Yet, she endured and preserved, waiting for the right moment to make her escape.
Moreover, her timing was perfect, just as Chu Feng and the others had landed. Everything was not yet fully settled, and this place was someone else’s territory. It wouldn’t be easy for He Sheng to find her.
"Yes, due to subordinates’ negligence, she managed to escape," He Sheng explained.
Chu Feng said, "You guys go ahead; I will go back to my room to rest."
He Sheng said, "Okay."
Chu Feng returned to his room, and just as he entered without turning on the light, a shadow suddenly pounced from behind, and a cold object, likely a blade, pressed against his neck.
"Don’t move, or I’ll kill you," a cold female voice sounded from behind Chu Feng.
Hearing the voice, Chu Feng scoffed disdainfully and said, "Do you really think your blade can do any harm to me?"
The woman said, "It’s enough to kill you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly felt her arm go slack, and the next moment, both Chu Feng and the kitchen knife in her hand had disappeared.
"Don’t move!" The woman tried to look around, but then heard a flippant voice behind her, followed by a hard object pressing against her waist.
Realizing her position, the woman resignedly said, "Go ahead and kill me if you want, it’s my bad luck to end up in your hands."
Chu Feng clicked on the room light and, taking the kitchen knife, casually tossed it back into the fruit bowl on the table where it landed precisely in its original spot—a sight that made the secretary’s eyelids twitch. This was a true master, and it was laughable that she had just tried to kill him.
Chu Feng sat on his bed and said, "I’m not interested in killing you right now. You’ve gone through a lot to escape, and instead of taking this opportunity to leave, you’ve sneaked into my room. You must be more than just an assassin, right? I am quite interested to know exactly what you are after."
Chu Feng had thought her an assassin sent by He Sheng’s rivals to target He Sheng and himself. However, it apparently wasn’t so.
If she was really an assassin, this would have been the perfect opportunity to escape completely, so why did she stay and even sneak into his room?
The secretary looked at Chu Feng, sitting carelessly on the bed, her mind racing.
"You can choose to run, the door is right behind you. But think carefully, once you go out, can you really make it out of this hotel? I think He Sheng must have already reached an agreement with the owner here. He is searching for you across the board right now. If you want to walk into a trap, be my guest," Chu Feng said confidently, not worried that she would escape because she was a smart woman, and she would make the smart choice.
