"Aoko Aozaki!!!"
"What?" The sudden shout made Aoko startle, and she replied instinctively.
With that one word, the Genie’s Lamp in Haru’s hand flashed with a white light.
Whoosh—!
An invisible suction force suddenly appeared. Aoko, standing at the maze entrance, was powerless to resist as she was sucked into the Genie’s Lamp.
At the same time, the surging magic bullet crossed the few meters of distance and arrived before Haru.
Haru ignored the approaching magic bullet, his gaze fixed on the lamp. Though it was a puppet body, the body, created in his own image, also possessed the God-Slayer’s terrifying magic resistance, rendering him immune to magic.
Even if the full-powered magic bullet Aoko had unleashed was comparable to a small rocket, the moment it touched Haru’s skin, it vanished without a trace.
"Where is this?" Inside the Genie’s Lamp, Aoko blinked, a bewildered look on her face as she looked at the dark walls around her.
Aoko’s body tensed, her sharp gaze sweeping her surroundings. But everywhere she looked, there was only a distant darkness, making her wonder if she’d suddenly gone blind.
A milky-white glow shone down from above her head onto the ground. The moment she saw the light, she quickly looked up, her gaze fixed on the source.
"You’ve got to be kidding me." Aoko stared, dumbfounded, at the massive deep gray pupil above her. In that eye, she saw an undisguised, teasing expression.
Seeing this, Aoko immediately knew who the culprit was. That ’all too familiar’ deep gray pupil... it was Haru’s eye.
"Bastard, let me out!!!!"
Her arm was instantly covered by an azure Magic Crest. With Aoko’s shout, a circular magic circle appeared on her right hand, and like a rotating Gatling gun, dozens of magic bullets poured out from the spinning magic circle!
Before the magic bullets could even touch Haru’s eye, a huge block of wood appeared in Aoko’s line of sight.
"That shape—a cork!!!!" Aoko froze for a moment, then a look of terror on her face, she watched as the cork was pressed into the empty space above.
A darkness so complete that she couldn’t see her hand in front of her face descended upon the Genie’s Lamp.
"Bastard, if you have the guts, fight me head-on!!!" A frantic shout came from the bottom of the lamp, reaching Haru’s ears.
"Sigh, that would only make you more desperate." Haru gently tossed the lamp, ignoring the tumbling Aoko inside, and with a wicked grin, walked out of the maze.
————
"As I thought, there’s a big problem." The moment Haru’s figure appeared at the maze entrance, a melodious, ethereal female voice sounded softly from the top of the Amusement Park sign.
Bright moonlight shone upon Alice Kuonji, casting a long shadow on the ground.
Alice, her expression impassive, took out a business card from her pocket—created from nothing—and focused her gaze on the writing on the back.
[Stop with the compensated dating, girl! If you need more money, just ask. —By: Haru]
"To be able to inscribe words on a business card in the few short seconds it took to stuff the wallet into Aoko’s hands." A dark green flame suddenly erupted from the corners of the business card.
"In my experience, besides magic, there is nothing else." With that, the dark green flames consumed the business card.
Watching the back of the figure brazenly walking out of the maze, Alice frowned slightly, a puzzled look on her face.
As someone who could bypass her barrier and perception, leading her to misjudge the situation, Haru’s magical level, at least in terms of concealment, was far superior to her own.
That was an indisputable fact.
Since he was a magus, then he must have known that she and Aoko were the guardians of the Misaki Town ley line. And yet, after defeating, or perhaps killing, Aoko, he could still walk out of the maze so brazenly, completely ignoring her, who was hiding in the shadows.
"I’m being underestimated." Alice sighed softly, concluding Haru’s audacious behavior.
Though she was being looked down upon, Alice’s mood actually lightened. After all, facing an arrogant magus was much easier than facing a cold and ruthless one.
Her black, pearl-like eyes sharpened. Without hesitation, Alice quickly took out a flask containing a green solution from her pocket. She had just deployed her greatest trump card.
One of the three great secret treasures created by the great witch, the original source of the witch’s bloodline, a fairy tale monster made from the fat of a divine spirit—the Oil of the Moon.
Pop—!
As the cork was pulled out by her slender fingers, the green solution, carrying a strange aura, transformed into a cloud of dark green mist. Within the mist, a strange head flickered in and out of view...
"Gah~ gah~ gah~" A strange cry came from within the mist.
"I’m counting on you," a cold voice came from Alice’s thin lips.
"Leave it to me, my lady." With that reply, the dark green mist suddenly dispersed, filling the air.
Alice stood atop the amusement park gate, surveying the large rides within, such as the Ferris wheel and the roller coaster.
The fairy tale monster, the Oil of the Moon, could form a massive domain similar to a Reality Marble, generating an endless supply of magical power within it, and could freely manipulate objects that had been abandoned and forgotten by the world, giving them new life.
So, the moment she deployed the Oil of the Moon, the entire amusement park became Alice’s familiar.
"You chose a good place to die, Aoko. Though I don’t like you, since you left me such a legacy, I’ll begrudgingly avenge you," Alice said with a sigh, her expression impassive.
In her words, she already considered Aoko dead.
After all, in her view, even if Aoko was a True Magic User, to face a monster whose magical prowess was superior to her own in a magical battle, the only outcome was death.
"Hey, hey, with a friend like you, Aoko would be crying, wouldn’t she?"
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Footsteps slowly approached. Haru, holding the Genie’s Lamp, leisurely arrived at the amusement park gate.
"I’m already crying..." Aoko’s wry voice came from within the lamp.
"Tsk, you’re not dead, Aoko. Your life is comparable to a cockroach’s," Alice said, her face clearly displeased, her tone sarcastic.
However, Haru could see the faint glint of joy in her eyes, betraying her true feelings.
"I’m sorry I’m not dead!!!" Aoko’s frantic voice came from within the lamp.
Just then, a cloud of white mist appeared beside Haru. It was another of the secret treasures, a fairy tale monster for single combat, called the Rose Hound.
It could be said that, besides the Bridge Giant, which she couldn’t use, Alice had deployed all her trump cards.
Within the white mist that made up the Rose Hound, hundreds of large mouths filled with sharp teeth suddenly appeared, and like a starving ghost that had been hungry for centuries, they swarmed towards Haru, biting!!!
