Chapter 86: Beast Human–3

"Are we there yet?" Alice groaned, following behind Thelma while still carrying the clean dead body on her shoulder.

"Yeah, just around the corner."

"Isn’t that what you said earlier? Are you l— oh, there actually is a corner." She could see a wall before them, as the path curved to the right.

"Uh, and why wouldn’t there be one. Let’s hurry before the patrols return." Thelma informed, disappearing from her line of view.

’Pa— pa— patrols!’ She could barely believe the words she’d just heard. "Why are they here? Hey wait for me."

*GROWWWWL!!

’We’re close, she sure did get use to being the beast she is— hah.’

"Hey Thelly, haa...mind telling me why patrols are here? Isn’t it a secret." Alice inquired, gasping for breath after having closed the stretching distance between them.

"Uh, to guard the area from—"

"Yeah, yeah yeah...people like me of course, I get it. But won’t they, you know— no longer make it a secret."

"The beast? It isn’t much of a secret around here though."

"Eh, wait what? So what’s the secret then?"

"Mmm,

*THAM!

Something suddenly crashed into the wall, a fair distance away.

*ACK!

Drawing their attention, they now stood they frozen. Watching the figure in gold and white armour, currently stained all over with blood, slide all the way down.

*COUGH!

Nothing but blood came out of the figure, being one none of them recognized, yet was a knight of the noblehouse. His face grew paler with each passing second, his breathing heavy and difficult. A huge gush had been made to his legs, the bone visible as whatever did that was strong.

*GROWWWWL!!

The growling was the loudest the both of them had heard, causing rumblings to be felt.

*THUM!

*THUM!

The ground shook with each step, the two almost tumbling off their feet.

*ACK!

The knight seemed to move, his left hand being raised with a weapon emerging.

"You’re not ending me, bloody beast!!" The knight yelled out, placing what seemed to be a dagger at his neck.

*THUM!

"Thelma, he’s going to kill himself. Thelma, we have to stop him!" Alice yelled out.

"Thelma! Darn it!" Alice finally dropped the body, taking another look at the other before dashing forward and ripping off her maid attire as she closed in. Revealing an armour with dual blades strapped to her back.

*THUM!

Each step continued to shake the ground, yet still it failed to snap Thelma out of her thoughts.

’The growls did sound different, I–I–I thought she’d gotten better at it, since—since that’s all she could do.’

*THUM!

’How? Just how could she kill?! She’s been stucked at one spot for ages! When did she learn to even move!’

*THUM!!

The tremble had thrown her off her feet, falling to the ground and barely being injured when from the corners of her eyes, something had appeared.

"Stop!!"

The knight heard someone yell out, causing him to turn his head despite the pain all over. Having blood on his eyes,

his vision all blurred, he could make out a feminine figure approaching.

"An...an angel?"

"I can save you! Hang in there!" A smile appeared on his face, one which hurt to achieve but couldn’t be helped.

’You can’t, it would be better if you run away.’ His gaze shifted to the pair of eyes before him, belonging to the approaching figure.

’Maybe, if we had gone for Tav’s funeral. This, wouldn’t have happened. All twenty of us wouldn’t have died for nothing.’ His hand moved, the blade following after alongside the red liquid.

*THUD!

"Nooo!!" Alice yelled, reaching where he was though it was already too late. "No, no, no— don’t die, don’t die."

*THUM!!!

*WHOOSSH!

A hot breath of air could be felt around her, goosebumps setting in in their numbers.

Afar and on the ground, Thelma had her eyes fixated on the beast, staring closely. For a few seconds, she couldn’t spot any difference when suddenly her gaze shifted to it’s eyes.

’Her— her eyes, they’re dilated. They’re dilated!!’ If she wasn’t panicking then, now she totally was. "No, this is not possible— Alice. Alice!!"

Hearing the other call out her name, she abruptly tilted her head in her direction.

"Alice!! The eyes!! The eyes are beast eyes!!"

"WHAT?!! ARE YOU FRICKIN KIDDING ME?!! IT’S A BEAST THELMA!!! A BEAST!!"

"I–I—"

*ROAAARRRR!!

’Great, now we’re all gonna die!!’

’Speak for yourself!’

"Wait what? Did it just—" Alice turned towards the beast when—

*SNAP!

*CRAC–CRACK–CRACK!

*GULP!

*BURP!

"AHHHHHH!!!"

"How hard is it to simply understand it?"

"Eh, understand what?"

"You can’t trust me?"

"Trust you???"

"You, I’m done here. Not doing this again, how can you forget things in seconds."

"I don’t, but I can decide to."

"Decide to, like seriously. I’m leaving, i don’t even know why I should stay with a crazy woman." She got up from the bedside, heading towards the door and planing to leave when—

"Where’s Melki?"

*BADUMP–BADUMP–BADUMP!

’I–I–I...’ Kezia’s hands were trembling with her hairs standing on end. It was the same feeling, powerful but not intense like before although the difference was thin.

"Where’s Melki!"

*BADUMP!!!

*THUD!

Kezia instantly fell onto her knees with hands at her neck, and struggling to breathe.

"P...pl...pl...pl..." It had only been a fleeting moment, but it felt like an eternity. Not for a second did she stop begging, and neither was it falling on deaf ears. For she herself couldn’t hear what she was saying, her voice seeming to have disappeared.

"I said where is Mel—"

It was an instant shift in the atmosphere, still the domineering pressure remained. However, it didn’t choke her anymore although her heartcore had definitely brought out its formula one.

"GRRR!!"

"Oh, no please— please..."

’She— she— it— it...it killed her! It ate Alice!!!’ Thelma was beyond shock, her mind spinning around non-stop.

*GROWL!!

The beast emerged completely as it full form could be seen. It’s jaws were still moving, not finishing up it’s last meal.

*SNIFF!

*SNIFF!

Its nose went to the body of the fallen knight, sniffing around it as if searching for something in particular.

*GRRR!

It barred it’s canines in disgust.

*WHAM!

With the right paw moving fast and powerfully, the body was whacked away.

A splattering being heard, as the poor body was now stuck to wall like a mere swatted fly.

’Run Thelma! Run!!’ Her own voice yelled at her scared self which only sat there watching. Obviously she was next on the menu, and that realization alone was enough to sprout into action.

On her feet in a matter of seconds, she wasn’t up for sneaking away unnoticed— in fact she didn’t care at all. Lifting up her gown to a good length, all she had sunk to her feet. As soon she was running as if her life depended on it, which it did of course.

*ROAAARRRR!!

It was mad? It had her eyes locked on her? Well, it didn’t matter to her as her life did and never would she stop to look back— never.

*THUM—THUM– THUM!!

The ground was rumbling, the beast now in pursuit yet who did it think she was? Hah, nothing could catch a lady running for her life. Still, she was nowhere near one, making her much more faster. Thus, dashing left and right she kept up with the same speed while leaping anytime she felt a rumble coming.

For in a matter of minutes, she’d disappeared around the corner, failing to notice what was happening before her.

*THUM!

*THUM!

*THU—SRRR— BAM—PRRRRRRR!!

The beast found itself suddenly losing control of it’s legs, falling on its butt and sliding for a moment.

"GRRR?" It’s face scanned the area, wondering where it was. Turning back, it’s eyes widened in shock seeing the blood and gore.

"GRRRRR!" It sounded much more like it was screaming no, when it suddenly felt a prick.

*BOOHOO!

*BOOHOO!

Trying to cough whatever it was out, a bundle of bones dropped onto the ground. Looking at it, it could point out one or two things which didn’t indicate what it belonged to. Still, at the the back of its mind a certain possible slowly proved to be right until— a skull was spotted. It’s shape and everything pointing to it belonging to none other than a person.

*BAM!

The eight foot beast had dropped unto the ground— unconscious.

"Please, please."

*GRRR!

*CREAK!

Kezia’s heartcore was almost popping out, hearing the bed she was right beside creak.

"Little do—"

"Hey, Melki?"

A voice was suddenly heard, one she’d spoke to minutes ago ending up with an unfavourable experience.

"GRRR! GRRR!"

The voice and tone had suddenly changed once again.

"Yeah, yeah it’s nice to see you but a little favour."

"GR?"

"Thanks, mmm mmn mmhm. You there!"

Kezia slowly turned to look back, holding her drenched face down in fear.

"Please.. please...spare me— please madam."

Staring at her, the other didn’t utter a word for a full, as if in deep thoughts.

"Run! Leave here!"

Like the bells had been rang for school’s closing, she dashed for the door.

"GRRR!"

"And don’t dare come back!" She yelled out, the doors shutting close.

"Now, Melki."

"GR?"

"Mind telling me why you broke, our rules?"

"..." There was a moment of silence. "... pleas..."

"Well well well, if someone didn’t learn a new word."

*GULP!
