Chapter 85: Leaving It In Flames–4
At the edge of each district, town or city were supposed to be villages which were also strongholds. However, the same could be said for the Red Light Districts. As such villages held the most women and cheapest prices for them also. Among one of these, serving as a bridge between the Forest and Red Light Districts was Kitville.
It was night time, the daytime of the districts and as usual it was a bustling haven. All around, people were having fun or going about their shady businesses. Casinos were filling up, yet compared to the pleasure houses, they
were getting chicken changes.
People of different ages could be seen, from children to the elderly. After all, a few decent games could be seen around. The cock fights and pig races to name the popular ones, though a certain one had been gaining fame— the eating competition. However, children had been rocking those and the others could only wonder why. Maybe the seemed to forget being a spiritualist reduced one’s taste, and food in such events weren’t even a chef’s choice.
"Come here lads, good food for you!"
"Don’t mind her, mine is a clean sha—"
*WHACK!
The hit had made him miss the rest of the words and view he had been engrossed in.
"Who— who— whoo..." His words and anger disappeared in a three second countdown. "Sorry, Lord Alden."
"Pffft!" The others following behind could barely hold back the laughter in, immediately shutting up with a glare from him.
"Drey, these women are used assets. Have an expensive and pure taste for once in you lifetime."
"Oww, ouch. That hurt’s." The men behind murmured.
"Yes, Lord Alden."
"Now take two men and head over to Renville, inform Kenz about our arrival in Kitville." His voice was low, but audible and clear to the other alone.
"Yes, Lord Alden."
"Ensure the escorts they would assign are more than enough to make the delivery smooth."
"Yes, Lord Alden."
"Good, Don’t dare to mess it up."
"Yes, Lord Alden." Drey and two more men separated from the party, mounted up on their jaguars.
Watching them disappear in a corner, still on the path leading out of Kitville and towards Renville, they too began to move. The fact that they rode on beasts was no one’s concern, after all those tamers could be seen around too.
Fastening the reins of their beasts to the oakwood stands meant for these, the group of three made their way into one of the pleasure houses. In this areas were where the taverns or mead halls as the slavers referred to were located.
Getting an empty table near a corner and far from a window, a good position of course. All three of them, Alden and his men took their seat like equals. The mentality of slavers were simple, for they believed men who fought and died in battle with them, were to also sit, drink and eat with them.
"Dom, order us some of whatever they have." Alden said, one of the men in beast skin nodded and stood up to head for the counter.
Having taken about two steps forward, a figure flew past his eyes.
*CRASH!
*THUD!
A figure dropped from the wall, having stained it with blood all over. Seated where he was, Alden could see it— he was long gone, killed by who?
"You— you didn’t want to believe me, I swore I saw it." The voice instantly caught the attention of Alden, being familiar to him. "Renville didn’t survive it, no one is. It’s a monster I tell you, a monster killed them all, it’s a monster!!!"
"Kenze?" Alden’s eyes shot open as the other seated beside him, also turned to look at the shabbily dressed figure. ’What’s he doing here?!’
*GALLOP!
*GALLOP!
*GALLOP!
Approaching the chief’s residence was none under than Rumel, dashing through the night as if it were day.
"Madam." The leather armoured men at the gates held their spears up and said, having noticed who it was.
The horse not daring to squeal proudly or make the usual stunts, it quite came to an instant halt at the slight pull from the reins. Raising it’s neck and positioning it’s back in a good way to not have the rider falling off. Aware that would be the last thing it did before it had a soul remaining.
Finally getting off, Rumel made her way towards the gate, the mount snorting in relief. As it had made it through another period with her, when suddenly she stopped.
"Snort?" It’s heart was thumping loudly.
"Sit!" Rumel turned and exclaimed.
*THUD!
Even if it didn’t understand the word, it decided to do something common he’d seen other animals do— especially dogs. Yet, surprisingly it had gotten it right after all.
"Good." Rumel continued on her way. "Get it a bone to chew on." She said, as she went past them.
"Eh? A bone?"
Walking through the path, heading for the main residence she could hear her name being called out.
"Rumel!"
"Rumi!"
Two familiar voices were heard, looking in the direction it came from to see two women she’d lived with for a few years. Though her’s had been a mere act, they had actually been his wives, pleasuring each day.
Getting closer to them, they were all smiles. "We got a name, Master gave us names!"
"Mine is Efi and her’s is Dalki!"
"No, mine is Efi and her’s is Dalki!"
"You’re repeating it again!"
"Oh really, didn’t see that."
"They’re both great names, since Master gave thought of it and gave it to you."
"Whoa, Master thought of us."
"Mmhm, now what about..."
"Shul?"
"That’s her name, where’s—"
"She’s dead." There and then, Rumel’s eyes widened in shock.
"Master killed her for killing Elena and Helena." In a split second, her composure was back to normal as if it never changed.
"I understand."
"Mm."
*FLAP!
*FLAP!
*FLAP!
"Uh?" Efi and Dalki looked up, scanning the sky just to see nothing.
"A bird is flying above us." Rumel mouthed, also looking up and trying to spot it.
"A bird? How can it hide in the sky then?"
"Buh, um maybe it’s not hiding but is rather as dark as the night itself."
"Ehh, tsk. Which bird can be that dark."
"A Raven." Her eyes were darting around as the flaps were loud and clear indicating it was still close. "A raven definitely means a message."
"A message? To who then?"
"Found it." Rumel didn’t hesitate, she never did as a portal opened around her hands. Reaching in and pulling back her hand almost instantly.
*SMACK!
A death string had been drawn out, a signal to the reapers to gear up.
*SWOOSH!
It was immediately sent towards the locked target, a raven flying as if it had all the time in the world. The sabertooth closing in too fast for it to evade even if it saw it coming, though it didn’t seem to.
"Oh, I used aura." She voiced.
"Huh?" The others turned to look at her when—
*BOOM!
Blood splattering all over the sky, the poor bird had exploded upon impact.
Still something caught her eye, and using her weapon to get it before it fell.
All three found themselves staring at what was left of one of the bird’s legs, a thick piece of paper tied around it. Taking only the paper, all three were eager to see it’s contents and after skimming through it. They stood there frozen with only one of them being truly shocked.
"What is Renville and also Umpirals?" Dalki mumbled, quite puzzled.
"When did you two learn— , nevermind. Master...master must see this, let’s hurry."
"Okie dokie."
"Uh, what’s Lux too. I want that name, i want three too."
