Chapter 63: Even-2
*GALLOP-GALLOP-GALLOP!
Riding through the forest on the main pathway, three figures could be seen on two white horses. On the Courser taking the lead was Mia with Alicia hanging on tight Infront of her. Bringing up the rear on a Stallion and keeping up with the two was Vans, his senses alert for anything out of the usual throughout the way.
Alicia was all smiles as she sat on the horse, being her first time for some reason. "Speeeeed! I...love...speed!" She said aloud, spreading out her hands and getting a much better feel of the air.
"Hehe, we share something in common then."
"Yay!" Alicia cheered at Mia’s words when Mia suddenly noticed something.
"The basket? Hold onto it—you don’t want Master being hungry." Mia cautioned. "Yikes, holding it tight now— hehehe." She hugged the basket tightly, a solemn expression up her face for a second before she broke into a round of laughter. After all, she couldn’t hold a serious face for long.
"Great, more speed?"
"Yes, more!" Her hands went up again, instantly coming down the next moment to hold the basket again.
"Kyaa!" She hit the reins and gave the courser a soft kick, leaning forward as the mount went into racing mode. "Catch up husband!"
"Whoooooaaa, speeeed!!"
’I’m definitely not allowing you on it again.’ Vans said within, marvelling at his own thoughts afterwards. "Tsk, I’ve lost count of the number of times she’s been on it. I haven’t rode it for years now— ugh." Hitting the reins he kept up with the racing girls.
Everywhere was silent, all being stunned by Ral’s action as it was not even a part of the list of possibilities.
"This is an act of treason. Think twi—"
"Shut up Kaleb, my hands might get wobbly and it would be your head coming off your neck." Ral threatened, holding up a sword at Kaleb’s throat, the edge of the blade almost drawing out blood.
"That goes to you too. You’re not that stupid Tort and Keg." Two knights, archer types at that, standing behind them and ready to fire glanced at each other. Having decided, they redrew their bows, the others not knowing what to do.
"Fire at him!" Kaleb ordered, yet for a few seconds nothing was heard. As behind him, influenced by the two, the rest of the knights had redrawn their bows.."I said Fire at him!"
"They have the decency to think unlike you despite your brains— don’t be a fool, Kaleb."
"Diz? What’s our next move." One if the knights standing beside him asked, Diz down and checking Carl’s body for any damages. As since they didn’t trust the faster runic process of the so-called witches, they depended on the traditional way and also spiritual energy to heal up. For the energy, could deal with internal damages while the other dealt externally.
"We wait, let’s see what happens next. Be ready to brace yourselves." He said to the knights, glancing at the two and resuming his checkups on the large figure before him.
’Aren’t we supposed to be attacking instead?’ The knight wondered, nodding and retreating from him.
"What do you think you’re doing bastard? That’s my kill?!" The rage and emotion in Lo-an’s voice could be felt, sending a chill down Ral’s spine. Although, he kept his composure firm and straight look unfazed.
"Tav was my brother! You left him in my hands to take care of, I’ve failed but don’t deprive me of slaying the one responsible!" Lo-an stared at him straight in the eye, the violent energy around him calming down.
"Good then, but I want his head. A head for a head!" Lo-an growled, returning to brush back the long hair of Tav’s severed head, having long removed the helmet.
"Thank you, Master," Ral mumbled.
"You think you could actually kill me, unbelievable— haha." Kaleb broke into a short-lived round of laughter.
"Why wouldn’t I if you depend on borrowed power to defeat your enemies."
"You—"
"Be a man enough to face off against me with your own strength and level." Ral had done it, and he was much more aware of that also. For the most precious and vital nerve if not popular also, had been hit— his pride.
Letting go of the sword he held onto, it went back into the storage ring and without a second thought he moved away. The blade drew out blood from his neck with a shallow cut, Kaleb now near his sword.
"By the Military Laws of—"
"Spare me the details and hand over your life already." Coming at him fast, his eyes burning with a golden flame alongside the sword.
*CLANG- CLANG - CLANG!
With each strike, Kaleb met it precisely and perfect timing getting pushed back instead. As he needed enough distance to freely move since Ral was attacking in a random pattern.
*CLANG- CLANG!
*BANG!
Their swords clashing, Kaleb went for an attack with a clenched fist reinforced with manipulated energy within. Aura around and the fact that he wore a monster-cored gauntlet also added up. Catching him off guard, as he came at him leaving openings easy for someone like Kaleb to notice. Ral was sent a meter or two back, holding down on his sword to prevent himself from toppling over.
"Don’t!" Ral raised his hands up to stop the Archer Types who seemed to want to get involved, their actions going unnoticed by Kaleb. As he had his entire focus on his opponent— him.
"Who’s the weaker one here now, Ral?!" Kaleb bellowed with a smuggish look up his face, pleased to have thought the other a lesson— or so he thought.
*WHOOSH!
Shooting through the air, Ral was back in action appearing before Kaleb and about to strike.
*SLASH!
Kaleb had moved faster with his sword, yet he’d cut through nothing but air. ’How could I forget about it!’
Behind him, his eyes a bright sliver, Ral’s sword came down towards his head. When—
*BANG!
Kaleb was thrown a distance away, toppling over and over, almost reaching the other end of the pathway.
"Ugh!" His left hand felt numb, having used it to block off the sword which aimed for his nape.
His entire body seemed affected, barely managing to rise to his feet once again.
"Hyaaaaaa! Die!!" Up above, he could see Ral, though not in actual fact as what he saw was a bright sliver light descending upon him. Caught in a daze as he stared at the incoming light, his thoughts began to wander around.
"Good! Give me that head! Give it to me!!" Lo-an yelled out, having surpassed his breaking points already— craving for nothing but vengeance.
"Is...this...the end?"
