Chapter 46: Mansion Cottage-2

"Huh?" Mia awoke hearing a voice, alerted, she quickly raised her head and just when she noticed the figure opposite them awake. She shot off the bed, spun and landed a kick right on his chest. Not ending there, her hand reached into her overcoat and brought out her feather pen. As kicking the air, she swirled and landed right on the figure, her knees pining down both hands of his, with the feather pen positioned right above his face.

"Try anything funny and you’ll be dead meat!" She snarled at him, the tip of the pen moving closer to his eyeball, making her threat clearer than with her words.

"It’s you," Tham said, his gaze straight and without an ounce of fear.

"Soo cool." The gray-haired girl sat there admiring Mia, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Huh?" Mia turned to look at her, an eyebrow raised. "Who are you?"

"Mee?" She pointed her finger to her face, puzzled and shocked.

"Who else?" Mia sighed in disbelief.

Hearing her confirm her words, the gray-haired girl’s face suddenly flushed red.

"Eeeeeee, she’s talking to meee. Meeee!" She hid her face in a sash around her neck, muffling her excited screams.

"Eh?" Mia was definitely lost on what was up with this girl by now whiles Tham on the other side with her not focusing on him, including what she held, could see it nearing his eyeball and moving away each second— his heart racing.

"Get away from her!" The deep voice of Vans was heard loudly, as waking and sitting up on the bed, he glared at the young girl.

"Eek!" Alarmed, she raised her head. "But she’s my friend." Her protest took Mia and Vans aback, dumbfounded by the piece of information they’d just heard about.

"You– you– you knew her." Vans stuttered, his face shrouded with shock as he couldn’t believe it.

"Karen— haha, who doesn’t!" She replied with a grin on her face.

"Who doesn’t?" The shock only increased, hearing her words.

"Mmhm, of course, I’ve known lots of Karens but this Karen was the craziest of all the Karens I’ve known, if not all the Karens to ever exist."

"So she was called Karen, Yannah’s daughter. It’s a beautiful name." Mia said in a solemn tone, her face down with tears slowly forming on her face.

"She feared nothing, and whenever the boys snatched Grandpa’s food she’d track and beat them up. None could escape from her— hahaha. They always underestimated her for how lean she was, running with their tails between their legs in the end."

*SNIFFLE!

"I never expected him to do as she’d been always saying, why was he so wicked— now she’s gone. Karen is gone, I couldn’t protect her and Grandpa wouldn’t get involved either. She numbered her days left each day, I’m not surprised she’d done what she said— she slit her own throat." The young girl broke down, tears welling up in her eyes.

"How could he —"

"Shut your tra—"

*AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Before he could finish his sentence, Mia’s hand moved fast with the tip of the pen going straight into his eyeball.

Letting out an agonized yell, he manipulated his energy to his pinned hands and made to get her off him. However, it did nothing more than worsen his plight as the object was pushed further in with the force on his hands also increasing. So much so that he could feel it touch his brain— the pain unimaginable. Tham did nothing but scream his gut out, blood oozing out non-stop.

The rest watched, Vans noticing how unfazed the young girl was, having her eyes glued to the bleeding eye. He noticed something in her eyes, something he hadn’t seen in a long time— peace.

Soon the screams subsided, as Tham wasn’t dead but had rather passed out. Being unable to fight back, his legs weak and hands pinned down, only yelling would be traumatizing for most.

Drawing out the feather pen, his eyes were back to normal. That was the exact reason she’d kept it or else he would have been healed before she made him feel what he needed to, for being a cause of her death.

"Young girl, what’s your name?" Mia inquired, getting off the bed and tucking the pen back in its place.

"I didn’t say it earlier? I’m Alicia Mune, Grandpa Lo-an is my Grandpa of course or is there another word for that, I don’t think there is though but—"

"We understand you, Alicia," Mia said with a soft smile up her face, walking towards the gray-haired girl.

Reaching her, she got down to join her on the floor beside Karen’s body. Drawing her into a warm hug, which she herself needed more than the other. "Karen will be in a beautiful place with her mother. I believe so."

"Don’t worry, she’ll beat up anyone who doesn’t send her wherever she wants to go anyways," Alicia said cheerfully.

"Haha, that’s Yannah’s daughter— just like what her mother would do."

"She always wished to find her mother, kept her going most of the time. Karen believed her mother would love her more. ’I can feel it deep down here.’ She would say with her hands on her heart— I really loved her. Waaaaaah!"

Alicia finally succumbed to the sorrow, crying her heart out at the loss of a friend. They even found it difficult to keep it in, yet while theirs came out as tears, Vans expressed his sorrow differently altogether, a certain unquenchable rage rising within by the second.

"Alicia, you said she lived with someone?" Vans questioned, trying his best to keep his tone calm.

*SNIFFLE!

*SNIFFLE!

Breaking the hug, her hands rubbing her eye as her sobbing ceased, she replied. "Mmmhm, Karen’s Father."

"Where is he now?"

"They came for him this morning, he was very noisy and woke up more people than the usual wailing did, including me of course. Still though he was reluctant he couldn’t put up a fight with them. He was so drunk and really deserved the beating they gave him."

"Are you talking about the Ferns sweetheart?"

"Ferns, no not them— you can’t touch them, it was the Thorns."

"Hah! Can’t touch them, we’ve done more than touching them already." Vans laughed sarcastically, the pain in his voice evident. "What have these bastards been naming themselves lately."

"No no, you don’t want the NobleHouse on your backs, their leader is a vassal," Alicia informed, though having no fear on her face, she sounded worried for them instead.

"Seems the Allans would have a lot to answer for, but that would be after taking out some weeds first," Vans said with a smirk up his face.

"Weed?" Alicia muttered under her breath, pondering on the word.
