Chapter 38: Dark Division-2
Chapter 38: Dark Division-2
The dots on the screen construct was simple math for Halix, having his plan going entirely in his favour— after all he did say it earlier, it was a win-lose situation.
Looking at the map, from the position he’d met up with Rfrien. If one were to line up the angles, the soul he was heading to had a bearing of 045° Northwest, while his laid perfectly to the east. Thus, though Rfrien would get there faster than he would reach his. The fact was about returning to the dense areas, as he’d get back three times faster than him— a solid plan.
Moving as fast as he could, he had 10 miles to cover to reach the soul while returning wouldn’t be much work. His plans did also have a possibility of flopping, yet leaning to the positive side was much of a better way to tackle it.
Going through rubble and other remains of fallen, wrecked or whatever you’d name it objects. Another figure could be seen running in the same direction as he was. A member of the Light Division, their nemesis since and for ages to come— having no possible way of ever being at peace with each other. So keeping his distance and to his lane, he continued his journey.
*Appear!
Halix stopped in his tracks, the screen construct forming before him without him bringing it up himself.
[Special Task: Dark Division Mission Control]
"Mission Control?"
[Chaos Bearer Prize Established]
[Mission: Return The Chaos Bearer’s Soul Without Orbing]
[Main Reward: Immediate Promotion To Base Commander...]
Halix froze in place, his eyes unable to be seen, but glued to the screen. Not noticing the rest of the long list of rewards, which was what one could only dream of in the corps. The Main Reward, though not his ultimate goal, was too much to be true.
"Immediate Promotion?" The words replayed to him. Still in disbelief, he looked at the screen wondering where the said soul would even be. Only to realize, that the purple dot he was currently heading towards had something which wasn’t initially there. A note which read ’Chaos Bearer.’, something he couldn’t believe — was his merchant luck resurfacing or what, damn he felt more alive than dead.
Yet the burst of joy didn’t last for long when Halix suddenly sidestepped following his instincts. A blade went right past him alongside a figure the very next moment. ’Light Division??’
*SLASH!
The blade sliced through the wind and came back at him, unable to act fast enough with it cutting a part of his robe. ’Wait, did it"
"SWOOSH!
Stepping away once again, it went past him and this time round. As without stopping it continued straight, being so fast it soon disappeared from his line of view. Confused as he was, Halix stood there processing and recollecting all that had just transpired.
"An LDR going for the first blow?" He mumbled to himself, as everyone knew the Light Division Reapers to be provokers. Always doing something which would get the DDRs to start a fight— never ending up in their favour despite having been angered first.
But that wasn’t the only issue he had here, being bothered by something else. "How did a dead guy cut through the wind?"
Soon arriving near his destination, Halix found himself on high ground with the dot being meters away below. Scrutinizing the area, he couldn’t detect any other reapers except one. "It’s that LDR again." He voiced annoyingly, watching the figure down below head straight from where he was. "Isn’t that where it is?"
Drawing out the map as the construct appeared before him, he looked at it and could see his target. Glancing from the screen back to where he’d just seen the figure, he had a puzzled look on his face.
"The LDR isn’t even near me?" On the dark screen, a gold dot which the key represented was three miles away from him. Only able to see the Reaper heading for the soul five miles away. "But— I’ll find it out myself, have to get to the chaos bearer first."
Proceeding to jump off the cliff, he came crashing down without any pain or whosoever. This time round, he landed straight up, dashing forward towards the target.
Covering the distance slowly he found himself on a hill, having gone past a large pile of bones. The map said he was closer to the target, which was supposed to be in sight. As it was indeed, however, there was an issue. Staring at the map and back at what was before him, it seemed unbelievable. "There are two LDR’s?"
No, he wasn’t getting it well. He’d be able to see it on the map if there were two. Moreover, they didn’t just place a single LDR in an area without care, yet he was talking about having two. That just didn’t make any sense, and it could only mean one thing. "That isn’t an LDR. Its– its– its a human, but how could that even be possible."
"Don’t worry, I’m here for you, I always was." A hand could be seen, one with not only flesh on it but numerous runes all over. Despite that, the figure could see and touch the soul of the old man on the ground.
"You didn’t know it would lead to this." The figure could be seen bringing both hands together as the numerous runes engraved on it lit up. And soon a ball of two energies could be seen between both palms. Placing the ball inside the soul, it started to swirl inside the soul. "This shall protect you, My Love." A bright golden light could be seen as the entire body of the figure lit up a bright gold, pacing its hands on the soul which did the same.
"Who are you?!" A voice, cold and dark was heard as the figure froze, Halix upping his guard.
Just then the face turned to look at him having bright golden auraed eyes. "Leave here!!" the figure yelled at him.
"What?! Wait nooo" Halix yelled out loudly, dashing for the figure, however, it was too late. He didn’t even know when it had brought out a black orb. Yet, he wasn’t fast enough as the orb slowly began to encase him, being something which couldn’t be stopped.
"Don’t forget, you killed billions— save more than that." Hearing those words, Zlatan’s eyes twitched.
Suddenly his screen construct appeared before him, and what he could see brought a smile up his hidden face. "You are so dead."
"Haha, look alive reaper. Cause you’re about to lose it" The golden-eyed figure stood behind the black orb with a blade drawn out, one familiar to him. "Damn, that was some comeback there... I’ll give you that, but how does the dead die again?"
Just then, three bright arrows went straight at the golden figure from left and right. "LDR’s got here first, that’s a pain in the bones. "There were two LDR’s? What’s going on here."
"DDR Halix! You’re to break up the orb around the Chaos Bearer before its teleportation to the Death Domain."
"Eh, this guy?"
"We will handle the Human!" With that the two LDRs charged at the figure leaving him confused, not knowing how one could even break up an orb. "None will ever touch him!!!"
"Damn it, what skill is that- the LDRs are fading away?!"
"RUN!!!"
"Hell yeah, I’m running of course- oh no, oh no, oooh nooo."
A golden light engulfed the area, disappearing the next second as only the Black Orb remained. Everywhere shrouded in silence as both the dead and living had disappeared into thin air.
