Building a World Class Empire in another World -
Chapter 84: Glass
Chapter 84: Glass
Since the contract was signed and the both of us were now bound to it, Aric could allow the Baron go, but before that they had to iron out what and what they would be trading.
"So now Baron, let me start by telling you what we will be offering for sale to you. The first thing is quality wood.
I’m sure that you can get your own wood from your kingdom, but the question is have you seen wood like the ones we use here?" Aric asked. Fredrick looked around the room, taking in everything that was made of wood.
He couldn’t deny the quality of what Aric had, it was something that would take his best men in woodworks to prepare.
"This wood is cleanly cut, and prepared, treated and polished, and we can supply you hundreds of them daily unfailingly. The question is, what do you have to offer in return for the wood?" Aric asked. He leaned forward, his elbows on the tables, and his interlocked knuckles holding his head up.
Fredrick paused for a moment, thinking of what would be worth the offer he was just given. After a few seconds of contemplating, he spoke.
"I understand that your village here has only started its farm, it still lacks variety of products. For the first trade, my town will provide a large range of products, and their seedlings as well, with corresponding value to the wood provided," Fredrick offered.
"Hmm, if you are giving us your seedlings as well, then I’ll give you five sets of wood free, as a thank you for that. Then after that, another means will be needed for you to purchase," Aric said.
"That’s fine. Right now I don’t really know what and what to offer, but when I get back to the town and have a talk with my closest advisors, I’ll know what to offer," Fredrick said.
"That works for us, right Ariel?" Aric asked, looking at Ariel. She nodded in response.
"Now the second thing we have to provide is fine spirit metal. You can’t know the source, but we have metals created by spirit magic," Aric said.
"This metal is extremely strong. I’m sure a baron like you already knows what it means to have spirit metal," Ariel added.
Fredrick’s eyes lit up in happiness when he heard that. He leaned in close to the table. "You have an elemental spirit of metal?" he asked, his eyes shining.
"That’s information you can’t ask us, sadly. Just know that we have the metal. This metal will come in different types: steel, bronze, silver, and even gold.
So you can already know how big of a deal this is to you. I doubt you can come up with something worth the metal on the go, so I’ll let you go, and when you are prepared, we’ll talk again on the trade.
Our trade will be handled by Lady Elisa. She is trusted by me, and very important. So I pray that when she comes to you, you’ll treat her properly," Aric said.
Fredrick nodded and spoke, "I’ll do my best to make sure that she is always fine," he said.
Aric got up on his feet and stretched his hands. Fredrick got up as well and shook Aric’s hand.
"I’ll prepare some goblins to take you and the men that you have left back to your town. I trust that you’ll be able to control those men to not spill about what happened," Aric said, letting off the hand.
"I’ll make sure they never speak of it," Fredrick said.
Ariel led him out of the office, this time not pulling him though. She allowed him walk. After they left, Aric fell back into his chair, reclining as far back as he could.
"This is a good step in the right direction," Aric said. There was no kingdom or empire that could exist on its own, even his, which had the system to help.
He needed connections, even if that meant getting them via some questionable means. He was happy that despite the fact that Ariel killed many of the Baron’s men, he still accepted the contract.
Aric didn’t fully trust the Baron though, but at the very least, he could still get some benefits from their transaction.
After a while of sitting down, he got up and walked to the window. He pushed the window open. Seeing the wooden windows open reminded him that he needed to make glass.
He didn’t like seeing the wooden windows like that, it spoiled the entire aesthetic of the manor.
He looked outside and saw Ariel leading the Baron with all his remaining men, including Andrew, toward the gates. Ten goblins, fully armed, followed side by side.
Aric turned away from the window and went back to his chair. He opened the system and browsed for information on how to make glass.
If he got the information, he could find the easier ways to make it, maybe using mana, and then hand it over to Ron to teach some of the goblins.
Aric paid for the information, and the system showed it to him.
[Ingredients: The main ingredient is sand. Other materials like soda ash and limestone are added to help it melt and stay strong.
Heating: The mixture is heated in a furnace to a very high temperature around 1700°C until it melts into a liquid.
Shaping: The melted glass is shaped by pouring it into molds, rolling it flat, or blowing it.
Cooling: It is slowly cooled to make sure it doesn’t crack or break.]
"This looks pretty simple. I guess I’ll try to make one first before I teach it to Ron," Aric spoke, his eyes shining in happiness as he rushed up from his seat and rushed out of the office.
He was about to get out of the manor when Ron walked in.
"Master, the dungeon is complete. We added some things that we hope you’ll like. Also, the board you asked me for is also complete."
