Chapter 82: Getting information, Part one
"So how do you plan on taking him back? Dragging him there in thorns?" Pentharis asked, casting a gaze at Gorin.
"Well, that was the plan before you showed up. Help me out with some chains, they have to be thick and made of dense material, we don’t want him having a chance at all," Aric said.
"Sigh, I didn’t come out here to work, you know," Pentharis complained, but he had already started making them. The metals formed, twisted, and turned, creating the loops that interlocked each other.
He was able to perfectly merge the seams back into one, making the chain have no weak point. When he was done, Aric used the vines to raise Gorin, and then Pentharis used the chains to wrap around him, while Silva removed the vines at the same time.
Gorin tried to take advantage of what they were doing and shake out, but the switch was way too fast for him; he was already tied up in chains.
Aric collected the chain from Pentharis and started pulling Gorin along with the group, without any regard for him.
Aric and Pentharis walked side by side, Pentharis constantly casting gazes behind at Gorin.
"That flame he used, it came from the crystal, right? I saw that," Pentharis asked.
"Yeah, the crystal formed on his head and suddenly gave him some sort of rage mode," Aric said. He furrowed his brow in thought. "I’m beginning to have a feeling that the terror’s main power might have something to do with crystals," Aric said.
"I see, then he must have an absurd amount of Mana crystals then," Pentharis said.
"Probably, that would make sense. The cave might be a spirit vein," Aric said.
They made it back, and immediately as they got to the gate, they saw Ariel standing there, her arms folded, her feet tapping the ground in an impatient manner.
Aric took a deep breath and continued walking towards her. She stared daggers into Aric, then her eyes moved to Gorin behind him, her brows raised, then she looked back at Aric.
"I’ll let the fact that you ran into danger alone be, but it isn’t happening again," she said, and turned, heading back in. Aric and Pentharis heaved deep sighs of relief.
They didn’t even know when they all got this fear for her, she just switched up after the battle, and everyone could tell—she meant business.
"So where do we take him?" Pentharis asked.
"There are still empty rooms in the manor, let’s have a talk with him there," Aric said, pulling Gorin in. The scene caught all attention; the goblins working stared at Gorin, seeing their former leader on the floor.
Gorin saw the goblins, his teeth clenched in rage. He opened his mouth to shout, barking like a feral dog. "All of you will die, for betraying my master! All of you! Your heads will be served on a platter for him to eat off."
"Shut up!" Pentharis turned and kicked Gorin in the head clean. When everyone saw that, the tense atmosphere shattered, and they all broke into laughter, many arching forward and pointing, others with tears in their eyes.
Gorin felt his soul shrink. A heavy storm had started in his heart as he heard their cackles. He saw them as monsters pointing at him with wide grins and devilish cackles. The more they laughed, the bigger they got, and the smaller he got.
’Why are they laughing? Laughing at me, laughing at me? No, leave me alone, I’m a warrior. No one can laugh at me.
Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Leave me alone.’ His mind instantly turned into a mess of fear, rage, and more. But the more he fought against those laughs, the louder they got.
They finally made it to the building. Aric pushed open the door and walked in, still dragging Gorin. As they got inside, the laughs faded away, but the ones in Gorin’s head stayed.
Aric immediately found a room and tossed Gorin into it, then he went in along with Pentharis. Pentharis stood at the door, leaning his back against it, while Aric was closer to Gorin.
"I think we left your blade in the forest." That was the first thing Aric said. Gorin’s eyes flashed; he tried to push himself up, his teeth bared in rage.
"Don’t you dare! That sword is a gift! Master gave it to me!" Gorin roared.
"Oh, I didn’t say we would leave it there. Oh no, that sword is really powerful—the material, the strength, everything about it is very good. And that’s why I’ll take it and hand it over to Pentharis.
He will shatter the sword and try to understand how it is made, then after that will throw it away because it no longer has use to us," Aric said casually, but his words made Gorin rage.
"I know there’s a crystal inside you somewhere, but yours has gotten so stuck deep in you that it’s no longer showing outside.
There’s no way this is who you are in reality, because you are nothing but a mindless, war-seeking toy for your master. All you do is fight, fight, fight for his sake. Have you ever questioned his instructions once?" Aric asked.
"I would rather die than question Master’s instructions," Gorin spat.
"And yet here you are. Look at where his instructions have placed you. Do you think anything can save you? If your master were to, for your sake, attack here, I’d kill you instantly, before he can save you. But I doubt he even cares about you.
But that’s beside the point. I’ll be needing you to tell me everything about that cave—the weak points, the strong points, everything that I need to know in order to make sure that if I attack, I’ll win.
And believe me, even if you refuse to give the information, I’ll get it out of you easily. Very easily, to be honest," Silva said. He walked to Pentharis. "Can I have a small sharp blade?"
Pentharis nodded and made one for him. Aric took it and pointed at Gorin. "I don’t want to dirty my floors though, so let’s get a small place ready for your interrogation."
