Chapter 81: Capturing Gorin

The roots crumbled into ashes as Gorin cut through them. Aeic had already put a good distance between them.

He raised his hands into the air and ten roots shot out of the ground, coming at Gorin from all directions. Gorin roared in rage, he swung his sword in a circle, trying to cut through all the roots, but he missed one, and it stabbed into his shoulder.

"Roarrrrrrrrrr!" Gorin roared in pain, his voice reverberating through the forest. The root burnt off after he got stabbed, but the wound was still there.

Aric took advantage of the opportunity, he shot several boulders at Gorin, he looked up and saw the incoming boulders. He slashed at the first one and cut it, but the second and third slammed into him, sending Gorin flying.

He slammed into the ground, the flames on his body extinguished. Dirt, sticks, and rocks got into his armor, mouth, all over his body.

"I don’t know what your plan was, but you shouldn’t have come alone," Aric said.

"I will destroy you, for my master," Gorin said, he pushed himself up, the crystal in his head glowed with a blood-red light. Blood dripped from where the crystal was embedded.

Aric could tell immediately that the crystal was doing something bad to Gorin, but Gorin was not willing to stop.

He raised his blade, the red flames covered his arm and sword, the flames could not spread farther than that.

"That crystal is doing something to you, don’t kill yourself for the sake of some master," Aric said.

"Don’t you dare speak of my master that way!" Gorin roared, he blasted off the ground, charging in with more vigor, the ground shook with every step.

He got into attack range and went for a slash. A boulder shot out of the ground and blocked the sword, the blade cut through the boulder, but Aric had already retreated several steps back.

Gorin didn’t stop, he charged in with another attack, but Aric did the same thing, blocking the attacks. Aric had been baiting Gorin in, and now half-cut rocks surrounded Gorin.

Aric snapped his fingers, and all the half-cut boulders lifted off the ground and closed in on Gorin at the same time. -Boom- the boulders collided all at the same time, with Gorin at the center.

Aeic didn’t stop there, he had earth spikes shoot through the gaps of the boulder-enclosed boulders.

"Roaarrrrrr!" Blood dropped through the gaps, flowing in all directions. Aric felt like Gorin had had enough, so he allowed the boulders to crumble.

But immediately the boulders crumbled, Gorin shot forward, his blade headed for Aric’s throat. Aric’s eyes widened, he didn’t expect Gorin to still push after that, perforated and leaking blood.

Aric reacted as fast as he could, roots came out of the ground and wrapped around Gorin, pulling him to the ground.

Aric knew that if he allowed this to drag on, it was going to take a nasty turn, so he used his thorn bind to wrap him up.

The thorns pierced into Gorin’s flesh, they got longer and tighter if he even moved a little bit.

Gorin tried to use the crystal on his head to call more flames, but Aric bent down in front of Gorin, and without saying a word, he dug his fingers into Gorin’s forehead and pulled out the crystal.

Nerves and flesh tried to stop the crystal from getting pulled out, they dragged, but Aric easily pulled it out, the nerves snapped.

Gorin let out a throat-wrenching roar, his eyes reddened, tears dropped from his eyes, his veins bulged, looking ready to burst.

As he tossed around in pain, the thorn vines got tighter and the thorns got deeper into his body. Gorin had to consciously force himself to not move, to stop the vines from growing.

"You are a really stubborn one, you know," Aric said, he bent down beside Gorin.

"My master will come for you, he will take all you have for himself, you can’t escape it," Gorin spat.

"A lot of talk for someone who is in pain," Aric said and tapped on the thorn vine, making the thorns grow deeper.

"Arghh!" Gorin groaned in pain, he stared at Aric, rage burning in his eyes.

"Look at me all you want, the fact is I captured you, now show me the crystal that’s controlling you? Or is it on your neck as well?" Aric asked, he looked at Gorin, wondering where the crystal was.

"Crystal? There is no crystal, you think I am like those goblins? I’m special to my master, I serve him with my heart," Gorin said.

"That’s bullshit, and you are stupid to believe that. No, I think I might know what’s your problem, it wants validation from your master.

You want it so bad that you twisted the truth in every which way, creating your own story. You are not important, your two shaman friends weren’t important, all of you were not important, you’re just expendable," Aric said, hitting every word with emphasis.

"You don’t know anything, I am next in line, he said I was going to become the next Terror after him," Gorin said.

"This guy is delusional," Pentharis suddenly walked up behind Aric.

"When did you get here?" Aric asked.

"Just now, Lady Ariel came looking for you, she didn’t seem too happy though, you’re gonna get a real scolding when you get back," Pentharis said.

"Why didn’t you tell her what I came to do?" Aric asked.

"Oh, we did, but that pissed her off more, she didn’t take it well that you went out alone to fight an unknown enemy," Pentharis said.

"Sigh, whatever, let’s just get this big guy back, I have a lot of questions for him. With the information he gives, we might be able to take down the terror," Aric said.

"I will never tell you anything about my master," Gorin said.

"Shut up," Pentharis said, kicking Gorin in the head.
