Chapter 68: The Battle part 6
Andrew had been tossed around by Gorin for minutes now. He pushed himself up to his feet after blocking an attack that sent him to the ground.
He struggled up with shaky legs, but his eyes burned with determination. He was so focused he was yet to see that the Baron was getting defeated.
Gorin smirked when he saw the resolve of the human. He was still pissed at the fact that Aric had been easily blocking and pushing him back, so now he wanted to take out his frustration on Andrew.
Andrew planted his feet into the ground and then charged at Gorin. He made his movement seem like he was going for a slash, and that tricked Gorin to move for a block, but it was a feint.
His sword went for a stab. This was his last-ditch effort to land an attack on Gorin. But rather than be shocked, Gorin smiled. His free arm moved, and using his arm guard, he parried the sword and then sent a kick right into Andrew’s chest.
Andrew flew through the air. He hit the ground roughly and rolled for a few meters before stopping. He coughed up a huge amount of blood.
His body was covered in bruises, all bright red with blood, but even then, he refused to stay down. Gorin smiled at the resilience. He picked up Andrew’s sword and tossed it at him.
"Pick it up, give it your best. That way, you can die as a true warrior," Gorin said.
Andrew slowly raised his head, looking at the blade on the ground. He stretched his shaky hands to pick the sword, his grip on it loose, but he still tried to move and keep fighting.
"That’s a lot of big talk coming from someone that couldn’t touch me," Aric said as he walked to the fight scene, dragging the Baron behind him.
Andrew saw the Baron. Shock filled his eyes as he never believed that the Baron, who showed him such stunning swordplay in their duel, would lose a fight.
He stared at Aric with eyes that questioned, What sort of monster are you? Aric, oblivious to that, tossed the Baron to the side. He pointed his sword at Gorin.
"Look around. All your goblins are trapped. Your shamans have died. You are the last one remaining. Give up already. I don’t want to drag this out," Aric said in a calm tone.
"Hahahahaha! What do you mean give up when I am having the time of my life? I want to fight and kill you. That’s the reason I’m here," Gorin said.
"You are one deranged person, but I don’t have the time to fight you, so I have something else that will," Aric said.
He summoned a stone guardian, and from the ground beneath them, a ten-foot stone golem formed, its glowing green eyes locked on Gorin.
"Have fun with that," Aric said and ran in the direction of Ariel.
He leaped over the moat and chased after her. Ariel was still moving, her sword cutting through the men like butter and burning them in purple flames.
Aric didn’t know why, but he had the feeling that if he didn’t stop her, he might never get her back again. He chased her down, and just when she was about to behead another man, he tackled her.
The man heaved a deep sigh of relief and then fainted. The pressure from a few moments ago was just too much for him.
Aric and Ariel rolled on the ground. She kicked him off her and got on her feet immediately, then dashed toward him.
"Ariel, whatever is going on, I need you to snap out of it," Aric said, but she wasn’t listening. She stabbed for his neck. He dodged to the side and grabbed her hand, pulling her to him, but she used an unusual amount of strength and tossed him over her shoulder.
Aric landed with a loud bang. He let out a pained groan, but she didn’t even let him have time to cry in pain. She raised her foot to stomp on him. He got up from the ground as quickly as he could and used Wrath of the Ancient Roots. Roots shot out of the ground and wrapped around her, restricting her movements.
She tried to break out of it, but she couldn’t. Aric thought he had won, but then the purple flame wrapped around her body and burned the roots immediately, destroying them.
"Oh, come on! How are you this strong?" he asked, but she didn’t respond, only dashing toward him again. She slashed for his head, but he dodged the sword.
He racked his brain for what to do, and an idea popped into his head. He had the spell Purge Affliction. He felt that whatever was happening to her was not something normal, so he decided to give it a try.
He stretched out his hands and immediately cast it. "Purge Affliction," he called out, and a bright white light shone from his palm onto Ariel. She stopped immediately when the bright light touched her.
Her eyes went back to normal, and so did her skin. She fell to the ground unconscious after that. Aric stopped the spell and looked at her on the ground.
"I can’t believe that worked," he said in a surprised tone.
_______________
Boom! Gorin blocked the attack from the golem. The force sent him flying, crashing through a tree. He got back on his feet, but the golem was already attacking again. The golem shot out one of its fists as a projectile. Gorin blocked it again but was hurled further back. The golem called back its fist and started charging at Gorin.
Gorin got back on his feet, his arms shaking from the several attacks he had blocked. The difference in strength was already clear as day, but his pride as a warrior would never allow him to back down, not against a non-living being like a golem.
He would rather die than allow that to be the case, so he charged in again furiously.
