Chapter 125: Discussions

They arrived at one of the buildings that were yet to be occupied. Aric pushed open the door and led them in.

Maze looked around. The house was entirely furnished down to the chairs and plates. She couldn’t believe he was basically giving such a place free to all the citizens here.

Pentharis finally arrived with Treshan, so Aric could show the demonstration. He walked all of them out to the side of the house where there was a small fireplace connected to the house.

"When winter comes, we want to be able to heat up the entire house. Now you see, in normal human houses, they have fireplaces, but one of the goblins here, the one in charge of all development, came up with an idea so brilliant it shocked me.

It was a way to ensure that the entire house is heated when the weather is cold. And that idea is what you’ll see now," Aric said and glanced at Treshan. He nodded and immediately added fire to the fireplace, pouring a constant amount.

"Now the normal people will basically have to use charcoal or wood, depending on what’s available, but for the demonstration, we are using Treshan, the flame spirit," Aric said.

"You seem to have a lot of spirits with you, high-level spirits I might add. That’s not something you can see easily, and spirits keep to them and are also sought after by other races a lot," Maze said.

"I’m a spirit mage. I can communicate with them and also tame them, though now there are about ten high spirits here," Aric said and walked into the house, leaving Maze with her mouth slightly open in shock.

She soon got out of it and walked into the house. Immediately, she felt the warmth coming from the floor. It was warm enough to keep her body warm, but the floor was not burning up at all. \n(o)v.e\l.com

"This is incredible. If we had this in our caves, we would never suffer cold winter deaths. When young ones are born close to the wintertime, we suffer painful losses, as the cold comes for them and kills them," she said. Her eyes looked down at the ground and her voice trembled.

Aric saw her sadness, and a bright idea popped into his head, but he couldn’t possibly tell her that now, so he was going to bide his time and plant the idea into her head without saying a word.

"I understand your pain. Loss is never easy, especially for young innocent ones that have done nothing wrong.

But after our agreement, let’s fix that issue now. We will find a way to make you have a better life," Aric said.

After the demonstration, they started heading for the manor. Maze looked at the ogres and the goblins; their beautifully made clothes caught her attention.

Aric saw that and smiled. He kept his eyes forward though, to not look like he was watching her. When they made it to Turn House, Raza and Raze wanted to come in, but Aric had to ask to be alone with the Alpha.

The only people that were allowed in with him were Ariel and Razalem. As the leader of the ogres, he knew a thing or two about rulership and could give some insights where needed.

Raza and Raze opposed leaving their master alone with strangers, but she asked them to wait as well. After all, she was terrifyingly strong. No one in the village could really take her down, now could they?

They got into Aric’s office where a lot of things were now different. The chairs had been given a soft padding on the seat and the backrest. There was a beautiful black carpet under his table as well, and the windows of the office were now replaced with window shutters that could open and close like the wood ones, but now even when they were closed, they allowed light in.

New curtains had also been hung at the windows and moved to the side as well to allow light to come into the room.

"Ron and Eliza, you both have outdone yourselves. This place finally feels like an office," Aric thought as he had his seat.

Ariel and Razalem stood behind him at the table, while Maze sat down across the table. Aric placed his elbows on the table and lined his hands together. He looked Maze right in the eyes and spoke.

"We have the manpower and the resources to make sure that we take down the Terror, but we still need your support regardless, because you possess strength and abilities we lack.

I’m not asking that all of you come and help us fight, only that you bring your best wolves to support us, and that will be enough.

What it will take, whatever you want, you can list them now and we will see how we can make that possible," Aric said.

She looked at him for a few seconds and then broke into a soft smile. "Fine, here are the demands that I have for you. Firstly, I want to be at the front of the battle as well. I’ll be under your command for the duration and the wolves will listen to you, but I want to be there as well," Maze said.

Aric nodded in response. "That is totally fine. I’m happy that you want to be there. Your strength will greatly change the game for us," Aric said.

"Good. Then the second demand I have is that we don’t take the Terror or any of the beasts closest to him as prisoners.

I don’t want to believe they can change or whatever. They must all die. I believe Sir Razalem, the leader of the ogres, will agree to that fact," she said and looked at Razalem. He nodded in response.

"I’m a firsthand witness to their evil. They have to go," he said.

"Fine. The inner members of the cave will all die. But as for the controlled goblins, and the women and many other races we find there, we will rescue them and free them from the Terror."
