Building a World Class Empire in another World -
Chapter 124: Back to Terra
Chapter 124: Back to Terra
When the day broke, everyone was already set to travel the journey to Terra. Maze was coming along with Raze and Raza. Though they had tensions amongst each other, they didn’t allow that to come in between them when they had something to do for the Alpha.
They left the cave and used the same route that they had travelled to come. Maze used her human form and sat on Raza’s back all through the journey.
Soon, after a long while of travelling, the village was finally in sight. From a distance, Maze couldn’t understand what she was seeing, as there were so many sophisticated buildings there.
"Is that the village?" she asked.
"Yes, my village. Might not look like much from here, but we should get closer and see," Aric said. Soon they were close to the village, and Gorin, along with some ogres and goblins in armor, came to greet them.
"Welcome back, Master," they all said in unison. Maze watched in awe. She looked at the armor that they had on their bodies, and she could even see some special craftsmanship on it.
Maze was not the only one that was shocked to see this, as he knew he didn’t have this type of armor when he left, so he decided to ask.
"Gorin, your armor, it’s different," he said. Gorin looked down at his armor and then looked up at Aric with a smile.
"Master, yesterday an ogre and two goblins that have been tampering with metal and such finally awakened a blacksmith class.
They received knowledge in blacksmithing, and they have been working on new designs together since yesterday," Gorin explained.
"I see, we’ll meet them later," Aric said.
Though he spoke in a way that didn’t carry any emotion, he was extremely happy about the fact that they gained blacksmiths and he didn’t need to even teach them.
This world worked on some sort of logic he didn’t understand, but he really loved that logic. He wasn’t sure if this was normal at other sides though—learning new skills very quickly. He had a feeling that it was happening that way here because of him.
"Lady Maze, let’s head in, there’s much to show you to ensure that you are fully convinced," Aric said.
They entered the town, and right off the bat, she was stunned, seeing goblins and ogres working together to build and develop.
As they got on the roads that were still under construction, she came down from Raza. She wanted to feel the road for herself. She could barely contain her excitement as she saw this.
She looked up in the distance and saw that the road was not just a small one—it was spreading to cover the entire town, through the alleys, in between the houses, and lots more.
"How did you have the resources to do all this? Humans call this roads, right? They use them for better passage. Shouldn’t this be a very hard project? Yet you are doing it around your entire home," Maze said.
"I told you that we have resources—enough of it to keep us going for very, very long, and not just resources to build, but to fight," Aric said. He led her to the housing side, and as they walked there, she was instantly stunned by the rows and rows of houses.
She had seen them as she came into the town, and she thought they were good, but now that they had come close, she could see that good was an understatement.
"This is where the citizens live for now—a full estate that we built. These houses belong to one family each, and they’re really cozy for you.
Our Chief Engineer went out of his way to even make a heating system for the houses," Aric said. He knew the right hook to get someone like Maze.
He knew that in the cave, winter was a brutal enemy, and the cold was only blocked by fur, so the option to have some sort of heating was something that she would jump on.
"Heating system? What’s that?" she asked.
"Hmmm, we should really be going in to have a meeting now, but since we are here already, let’s go and I’ll show you," he said and then turned to Pentharis.
"Go and get Treshan for me. Make it quick," he said and started walking.
"Ughhhh, gimme a break," Pentharis said and left to find Treshan.
As Aric walked through the houses, he noticed that some of them still had occupants arranging their new homes—mostly the women and some men. They threw greetings at him as they passed, bowing their heads to him with genuine respect.
"They seem to really love you here," Maze said.
"Master is supposed to be loved, as he saved both of them—the goblins and the ogres. He provided them this home and comfort for nothing in return," Unara said.
"I can’t say I didn’t get anything in return, Unara. Now I have good citizens that will aid me take Terra farther. That’s enough in return."
Everyone shot Aric a confused look with a touch of pity in it.
"Master, you saved my tribe from death, and gave us work that’s reasonably less than or the same with what we are used to, gave us true names, gave us houses and gave us food.
It’s safe to say that in our situation, we are using you more than you are using us, Master, and that’s a fact," Razalem said.
Aric chuckled when he heard that. "As far as I am concerned, all of you are paying off the debts very well, and you have been doing that since you arrived. Don’t let it bother you," he said.
Maze looked at him after he said that, and her view of him got better, and she had a deeper sense of respect for him.
Riven, in his own mind, believed that he was getting far better than he bargained for with the ogres and the goblins, but in reality, they felt they weren’t doing enough.
