Chapter 122: Winning the bet

The Alpha smirked and then suddenly, a massive surge of lightning shot out of her body. The bolts shattered the spikes on impact, completely obliterating them.

She landed on the ground after escaping that attack and vanished again. Aric looked around, trying to see her; his eye moved too fast, and when he finally saw her, it was too late as her feet slammed into his head and sent him flying like a ragdoll.

He slammed through several trees, slammed on the ground, and rolled for a few meters. He had barely stopped, and she was already up in the air with her fingers spread out like claws and lightning running all over them.

She struck down immediately, her fingers moving for his chest. Aric knew that if that attack was to land, he would be out in an instant. Roots shot out of the ground beside him and created a twisted dome.

Her fingers slammed into the dome and shattered it entirely, but she wasn’t able to get to him. Immediately the dome fell apart, another root shot up and slammed her away.

Aric got on his feet, wanting to retreat more, but she was already above him. She flipped and came down with a full-powered axe kick.

The shadow of her feet covered his face, and in the next second all he saw was black as her heel slammed into the back of his head and sent him into the ground.

His forehead tore up as he hit the rough ground; blood poured from it profusely. The Alpha took a step back and watched him.

He gritted his teeth, using healing while bearing the pain. When he was finally healed, he got back on his feet, pointing his sword at her.

She smiled again and vanished, but this time, his eyes managed to catch a glimpse of her as she passed by him. He turned immediately and raised his sword at the exact right moment before her kick landed.

The sword blocked the kick but shattered under the force of the kick. His hands received a massive shock; he felt like throwing up as his stomach churned.

He leaped back and while in the air shot two boulders at her. She dodged them easily and charged at him in a beeline.

’I thought she would be strong, but this is just absurd,’ Aric thought. He couldn’t hold back anything at this point or she would absolutely finish him off.

He summoned his golem as fast as he could. The golem formed and immediately blocked her attack. The arm of the golem shattered under the force of her attack.

Aric was shocked to see how easy it was for her, but he didn’t allow it to fluster him. Leaving the golem to face her, he retreated a few steps away and got ready to actually go all out.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself before he used the spells he was about to use. He cast Titan’s Domain, and the earth beneath him began shifting and changing.

The Alpha was not expecting this, and so it took her unaware. The changing terrain threw her off. Aric saw his plan was working, and so he immediately set on the second part of the attack. The roots started shooting out at random parts of the changing terrain.

He attacked her with as many roots as his mind could carry, hitting from all angles. She blocked the attacks with her hands coated in lightning.

She was fast and very precise, but Aric kept changing his attack pattern to get a hit, using the changing terrain to make it worse.

She saw that what she was doing was barely doing anything, so she decided to charge forward in a straight line. She began running as fast as she could, immediately vanishing from Aric’s sight. But he knew that since she was inside his Titan’s Domain, he could tell her exact location.

He made earth walls shoot out of the ground to block her while the roots started wrapping her. She tried to blast out of them with a huge bolt of lightning, but immediately as some roots were blasted into nothing, more wrapped around her.

He kept wrapping and wrapping until it looked like a massive ball of roots. He thought that would be able to keep her, but the ball began shaking, trembling very quickly.

He wanted to use more roots to tie her up, but his mind and mana were already exhausted. He couldn’t bear the weight of adding anything more to the spell.

He watched as it trembled, unable to do anything, and after a few seconds, an explosion of lightning happened. All the roots were scattered and destroyed, and there she was standing in her full wolf form.

Riven looked at her in that form, and he could sense that her strength was at least twice what it was when she was in humanoid form.

If she decided to attack him, there is nothing that he would be able to use and stop this. He stood there breathing, his Titan’s Domain faded away and everything went back to what it was.

He looked at her with a small smile, "I guess I lost," he said. He fell to his knees, breathing heavily.

"No, you won the bet. What I said was if you managed to make me transform back into my true form, then you win.

You are the one that thought you could win, but there is no way that you’ll defeat me—well, not now. Your potential is definitely frightening," she said. She transformed back into her human form and walked to him.

She placed her hand on his back and transferred mana into his body. The mana rejuvenated him, filling him with energy.

Aric looked up in shock. She smiled at him, "It is a little skill of mine, don’t worry," she said. He got up on his feet and bowed to her.

"Thank you, Alpha," he said.

"My name is Maze," she replied.
