Chapter 100: The woman in white
The work continued over the next two days, responsibilities switched over time and more progress was made. The houses were all under construction in massive amounts, the farm had been expanded massively.
The ogres had gotten accustomed to their new home and were now much friendlier with everyone in the village.
But that was not the biggest change that came, the biggest was when Aric woke up like every normal day and headed to his office to get some work started, and a few minutes later, some people that he didn’t think he knew walked into his office.
There were five of them, a man with slightly pale skin and a horn, he was the definition of handsome, and with him were two other men, one with striking red hair and massive, and the other was smaller with purple hair.
The one characteristic they all held was the fact that they had horns on their heads. He looked at the two females at the back, a small lady with shiny black hair, her lips curled up into a beautiful smile with eyes sparkling like clear crystal water.
And then there was the second, her purple hair stood out, she looked at the wall, not wanting to look at Aric, but even then, Aric could tell she was a striking beauty.
As Aric saw their characters, he realized who they were, he shot up to his feet, his eyes wide in shock.
"You guys are the ogres, the ogre leaders, Ronan, Dawn, Twilight, Ragna and Nala," Aric said. He stepped closer, eager for their answer.
"Yes, Master Aric, we managed to evolve thanks to your help, we are heavily grateful for the opportunity," Ronan said, and they all bowed simultaneously to Aric.
Aric was stunned and happy all at the same time, the smile on his face said it all, he looked at them like treasures.
"Don’t thank me too much, it’s all part of the agreement, I’m just keeping my side of it," Aric said.
"Regardless, we are still the ones gaining the most out of all of it," Ronan said.
The door of the office swung open again, Ariel and Elisa walked in, they saw the ogres, and while Elisa was shocked at this, Ariel wasn’t, she simply looked up at Aric and spoke, "It seems you have seen their evolution, it’s pretty stunning to be honest," she said.
"Wait, you saw them before?" Aric asked.
"Yes, this morning, early as they came. We had a little talk when I saw them changed. I am your eyes and ears in the village after all," she responded and walked to his desk. She placed a hand on the table and signaled at Elisa to come forward.
Elisa snapped out of her shock and walked to the table, she had a small amount of paper in her hands. She walked to the desk and placed it down in front of Aric.
"This is an inventory of all the clothes-based plants that we harvested and stored. We stored them inside the manor here as the storehouse is still under construction," Elisa said. She looked up at Aric, locking gaze with him.
"I think it’s time we finally learn how to make clothes. Some of the female ogres here are nursing mothers that can’t get into the hard work that the others are doing, and then there are the three other female goblins, they haven’t been doing much ever since, and they feel like they should be doing more," Elisa explained.
"I see, well, I’ll provide the materials for you to start teaching them, but it seems we are going to need to head into that Baron’s town.
Aside from the materials, there are a lot that we will be needing, like dyes and whatnot, but all that will be contained inside this book," Aric said and pulled out a massive book, its thick polished leather back reflected the sun.
He placed it on the table and placed his hand on it. "I got this ready some time ago, was just waiting for when you would need it. Judging by how fast you learned farming, I’m sure you will be done by tomorrow," Aric said.
"Definitely, I’ll start right away," she said. She stretched out to grab the book, but Aric didn’t let go. She looked up at him, wondering why.
"Before you run off to go read the book, I need you to know that we will be heading to the town tomorrow, you, me, and Ariel.
We need to get everything we will need from there, so get prepared," he said and turned to look at Ariel, "Is that okay by you?" he asked.
"That’s fine, as long as I can accompany you, though I also suggest that you bring Pentharis as well," she said.
Aric didn’t know why she asked for Pentharis, but he didn’t have an issue with that, so he nodded.
He could probably get everything that he needed from the system shop, but Aric didn’t know when the system would stop working or if it would one day turn against him or something, so he wanted to start building real-time connections that would help them.
He was already moving at an astonishing pace, so he didn’t need to be worried about going too slow. He also needed to start seeing the world more, the memories he has are all about running away from dangers and trying to survive, but now that was no longer the case.
Aric walked out from behind the desk and walked to the door. He turned back to look at all of them, "I’m going to see how things are going," he said and stepped out.
He walked down the stairs, his footsteps echoing within the house, when suddenly everywhere turned black, and then a slight shine at the distance.
Aric looked at the light, trying to see what it was, and then he saw it—a woman clad in full white, a black scarf wrapped around her face, so Aric couldn’t see what she looked like. She held a sword, and she pointed it at Aric before dropping it down and vanishing.
