Chapter 115: Elise’s Schemes
"Ma’am Elise, just now, Mr. Del Valle just entered HideOut. He came by himself. Should I follow him inside?"
Elise’s bodyguard whispered over the phone while his eyes were peeking inside the entrance of the high-end bar. Bouncers were at the entrance checking identities, but the man he was following just passed through the VIP entrance, so he couldn’t follow behind.
A soft and husky female voice came through the phone and caught his attention. The bodyguard blushed just from hearing that sultry voice.
"Oh, you don’t have to, Owen. You can leave him alone now if he already entered that bar. The security in that place is very strict, so I’m sure nothing will happen to him. Thank you for your hard work, Owen."
A big smile formed across the bodyguard’s face. He scratched his head and shyly thanked his female boss’ compliments.
"Then, Ma’am Elise, should I go and report to you now?" Owen asked hopefully. His day wouldn’t be complete if he didn’t see his boss’ kind beauty, so he expected that she would request for him.
However, he received a different reply. Elise spoke with worry, "You don’t have to, Owen. I know you’re tired from following Azi since this morning. I don’t want you to get sick, so just go home for now, okay? Good night."
The call ended. Owen sighed in dismay and decided to just go home with slumped shoulders.
On the other hand, Elise who just threw her phone on the bed hurriedly ran to her wardrobe and flipped every dress in search of what to wear. Her eyes sparkled in delight and excitement.
After taking a black tube dress that reaches half of her long and slender thighs, and reveals her perfectly embossed collarbones and sharp shoulder blades. The neckline was a bit low, allowing her flat cleavage to peek through somehow.
She paired the dress with black knee-high heeled boots and a black choker with a gold silver pendant on the middle, then she wore a set of diamond accessories over. Grabbing a maroon clutch bag from her collections, she took a whole and a half turn before the mirror, giving herself one last look over before smiling contentedly.
"Perfect!" she exclaimed enthusiastically and finally went downstairs.
Throughout the whole way, a big smile was plastered on her face. Finally! She could finally take Azrael for herself. Elise squealed inwardly. She thought he escaped from her palms after the news of him and the illegitimate child of Chairman Horace spread around.
But it turned out it was just a piece of fake news!
More than that, his bodyguard’s offense for stalking Azrael seemed to be forgotten due to recent events. So, Elise just asked him to continue, in a more discreet way.
She parked the car at the entrance and a bouncer came up and opened the door for her. She gave the key and ignored the other bouncer who silently escorted her inside.
Once she was in, she scanned the whole place. the dance floor was crowded and lounges on both sides were all occupied. Even the stairs to the upper floors were filled with dancing and griding humans that brought a frown on her beautiful face.
The air was wafting with different scents mixed with the smell of cigarettes and alcohol. Elise made her way to the middle, receiving admiring glances and lustful smirks.
"Hey, lady~ are you with someone?" One drunk alpha came to her. She waved her hand dismissing him. Her face brightened after spotting the person she’d been looking for.
Azrael was drinking by the counter alone. Blankly staring at the wine glass he kept spinning on his hand. His strikingly handsome face was illuminated by the changing lights of the disco ball. His visage appeared kind in blue, sinister in red, and melancholic in yellow.
Elise couldn’t help but pause in her tracks, admiring his beautiful face. After a minute, she came over and sat on the stool beside him.
A deep and heavy voice erupted from Azrael, "I don’t want a companion. Get lost."
Elise ignored him and just called the bartender staring at them. She asked for a light drink and urged a toast with Azrael, to which the latter denied.
Elise pouted, "Come on, Azi~ it’s me, Elise. Are you drunk already? Look at me!"
Azrael didn’t even spare her glance.
Elise frowned and bumped her wine glass with Azrael’s. The two glasses clunked and she raised her glass to sip. She did it gracefully and seductively, but only the bartender’s eyes turned into hearts.
Azrael just put down his glass and turned to the lovestruck bartender, and said, "I want another glass."
Elise gaped, "You’re so mean, Azi!"
Azrael stared down at her with indignant eyes, "I told you to get lost."
Elise reasoned, "But you’re the only one I know here!" Her shoulders slumped and she tearfully added, "You know how protective my parents became after experiencing a gender change, so I can’t go and have fun like this now. That’s why I sneaked out and came here. But I didn’t know this place would be this crowded! Luckily, I saw you. So, can’t you stay with me for a little longer?"
Azrael spat, "You should have gone home instead. Why are you acting like you didn’t order someone to follow me around? Don’t you have no shame? Even wh*res aren’t so shameless."
He stood and decided to leave, turning his head away from Elise.
Elise was hurt but just ignored his words and put her plans into action. She smirked and put something on Azrael’s drink. She caught the bartender looking at her with wide eyes, so she puckered her lips and brought her index fingers on them, then she winked at him, mouthing seductively, ’Please, don’t tell.’
Azrael started to step away, so Elise panicked and grabbed his arm.
She sobbingly spoke with pitiful teary eyes, "But it’s been so long since I did this! I promised I’d stop! Also, I promise I won’t stay too late, just until midnight! Please, Azrael?"
Her expressive eyes dropped and her rose-colored lips quivered. She looked ready to bawl her eyes and throw a tantrum if not granted. The bartender even looked at Azrael with an expectant gaze.
Azrael sighed and sat back down. he took back the glass and drank the wine in one gulp, without saying anything. He came to that place to drink alone, let all his emotions leak, and forget everything even just for a while.
But with Elise on his side, he couldn’t free his constrained feelings.
The woman just continued to talk about things he didn’t even have an interest in. He ignored her and wallowed in the emotions he held inside.
Frustration, anger, hopelessness, guilt – these emotions swirled inside him, gnawing his consciousness. He wanted to forget for a moment the feeling of being rejected, cast aside, abandoned, and misunderstood.
He drank the alcohol in one gulp and slammed his fist on the counter.
The words Knox spoke to him kept replaying in his head. He thought he was numb already, but he was surprised to feel another pang in his heavy chest, just like a thousand nails hammered into his every fiber.
