Chapter 110: Uncle Choco turns Daddy

Chapter 110: Uncle Choco turns Daddy

"Hello! Who is this?"

Azrael stiffened. His grip on the phone tightened as he stared at the screen in a daze. Hearing that animated voice somehow made his heart pounded a little louder.

"Hello? Hello~ are you there?"

Excitement slowly rose inside him. A smile broke after that second question. He suddenly just wanted to lie down and listen to that cute voice all day long. Knox was truly unfair. How could he keep the ball of fluff and sunshine all to himself?

Azrael frowned, still upset toward the omega.

From the other line, Knoa frowned as well. His face crumpled and he lowered his voice, "Huh? Why is no one speaking? Is this a prank? Please, don’t prank Papa. Papa is sad, so call someone, okay? Bye-bye!"

Azrael panicked, and yelled, "Wait!"

"Oh! Someone is there! Who are you? Why do you call?" Knoa jumped out of the bed and ran to the sit next to the window. He slumped on the floor, away from his sleeping father so as not to disturb him.

He grasped the cell phone with both hands and pressed it on his ear. He beamed when the person in the other line answered.

Azrael stammered. His heart was beating fast. Truly, the only people who could make his heart race that harder were Knox and his son. "I...uhm, ehem! Where is your...Papa?"

He asked out of the blue, even though right then, all he wanted was to hear the kid’s voice. He felt so light and happy, hearing that tiny voice as if he was someone who liked kids from the beginning, when in fact, he finds them annoying.

His thoughts were cut off when Knoa responded, "Papa is sleeping...who are you?" he then asked curiously.

Azrael’s face brightened. He wanted to introduce himself as soon as possible, "Oh...I’m...this is Knoa, right?" he backed down, not sure how to break the news to the kid. ’Will he understand if I explained that I was his father, and Knox was in fact his father who gave birth to him... but what should I answer if he asks me how his Papa gave birth to him then...?’

Knoa replied, his voice dripping with liveliness, "Yep! Huh? How do you know Knoa’s name?"

Azarel chuckled. He could imagine the child’s brows meeting while his head was tilting sideward. He voiced out warmly, "Do you remember the person who bumped into you in the hospital and you gave him candy?"

A moment of silence settled between them. Knoa looked up at the ceiling, putting his small hands on his chin, then answering after, "Hmm...I don’t know...why do you ask?"

Azrael pouted.

Luis who was standing on the side watching him gaped at his boss’ sulking face. He wondered who the guy was talking to, but based on the conversation, he was certain it wasn’t Mr. Arden.

Azrael said, "Then, how about the person who owned the chocolate cake you ate at the restaurant?"

Knoa’s eyes sparkled. He grinned widely and exclaimed, "Oh! I know! Uncle Choco!"

Azrael choked on his own words. He coughed many times before responding, "What?!"

"It’s Uncle Choco! Oh...? Uncle Choco is also who Knoa gave a candy?" Knoa asked ignorantly.

"That’s right. Do you remember now?" Azrael gently asked. He sat above the bed, crossed his legs, and swayed the upper one unconsciously. His smile widened after hearing Knoa replied quickly.

Knoa, "Yes! So, are you Uncle Choco?"

Azrael crumpled his face, but amusement was visible in his eyes. Luis on the other hand was starting to contemplate whether to call the doctor because of his boss’ peculiar behavior.

Azrael hesitantly asked, "Uh, can you please stop calling me like that?"

"But Uncle Choco didn’t give a name, so I named you!" Knoa giggled. His tiny laughter was like soft music in Azrael’s ears.

"Well, thank you, but you have weird taste in naming, kid. Anyway, my name is Azrael. But call me ’daddy’ instead," Azrael said.

Knox furrowed his brows, "Why ’daddy’ if your name is Azi...Azrael?"

The alpha puckered his lips again, "It’s Azrael. See, isn’t ’daddy’ easier to say?"

He hoped Knoa would call him in that way. He crossed his fingers, wishing that he managed to trick the child. Thankfully, his wish was granted, much to his delight.

Knoa, "Daddy...oh! Okay, daddy! Knoa will call you daddy!"

’Yes!’ Azrael punched the air with a successful grin. Luis started tapping on his phone with a terrified look.

However, his elation was quickly dampened when the child started to uncover the trick, "But, daddy means like Papa? Papa is Papa because he is my papa. But daddy isn’t my papa, so why call you ’daddy’?"

The alpha was rendered speechless. The word Papa echoed in his head multiple times, his simple mind trying to comprehend the kid’s concern but his brain only remembered the four letters.

He unconsciously blurted out louder, "Are kids this complex?"

Luis’ eyes bulged. He gawked at his boss and asked with bated breath, "What kid, sir? You’re talking to a kid? Whose kid?"

Azrael ignored his secretary. Luis’ eyebrows twitched. He furtively took a step closer and stayed behind his boss, trying to eavesdrop on that weird conversation.

"Ehem! Well, you can ask your dad—I mean, ask your Papa when he wakes up, okay?" Azrael advised, leaving Knoa wondering what that meant.

So, he nodded and shouted, "Okay! Bye-Bye!"

"Wait!" Azrael panicked again. He didn’t want to end the call yet. "Can I talk to you more? Let’s chat, uhh...about your favorite color, favorite food, or favorite toys."

Knoa halted. He was about to stand to go to his sleeping father and ask him. But then, he heard the guy ask him questions, so he quickly sat down again.

Knoa put the phone on the carpet, and he lay on his stomach while his feet were swaying at the back. He excitedly shared, "My favorite color is green! My favorite food is chocolate cake! My favorite toy...toy is Loki!"

Azrael sighed in relief. He lay down on the bed while his legs were hanging out, "Loki?"

Knoa, "Uh-huh. He’s a big dog that always plays with me!"

"Ah...so anything you played with is a ’toy’," Azrael laughed. "Wow, you really are my son. Why do you already think that way?"

Luis’ expression went beyond astonishment. The phone in his hand slipped and fell on the floor, but even if he shrieked after finding out the cracked screen, his boss’ still didn’t pay him attention.

Knoa genuinely asked, "Hm? What sun? It’s cloudy!"

Azrael peeked at the window and laughed, "Right. It’s cloudy, but I can’t wait to see my son, Knoa. But still, just call me daddy, okay?"

Knoa yawned, "Uh...okay..."

"You sound reluctant," Azrael teased.

"I want choco..." Knoa insisted, his eyes drooping already.

Azrael could hear the sleepiness in his son’s voice, so he lowered his voice, "I’ll give you plenty of chocolate cake if you call me daddy, how about that?"

"Sure, Daddy!" Knoa answered cheerfully again, washing away any hesitation and sleepiness in his voice.

Azrael’s unrestrained laughter echoed in the whole room. He just found out his son’s weakness, and it was a cute one. However, his laughter stopped when another voice came through the phone.

"Knoa...who are you talking to?"

The child being questioned beamed at the sight of his Papa. He answered merrily, "Daddy!"
