Chapter 102: Scheming Rage
Chapter 102: Scheming Rage
Azrael fainted soon after their reunion. One of Kayla’s men took him and sent him to the hospital. The bleeding on his head wasn’t stopping, so Knox almost panicked when Azrael lost consciousness.
He turned to Athan, begging him to follow the car where Azrael was. With a tear-stained face full of worry, he tugged on Athan’s clothes, "P-Please, brother, I want to know if he’s okay..."
Without speaking, Athan dragged Knox back to their car. Shawn followed and sat on the passenger’s seat. They left the place after that.
Believing that his older brother listened to his request, Knox let himself slip away to sleep. As his body was hot due to fever; his head throbbing and all his muscles felt so sore, he immediately faded to slumber.
Athan peeked at his younger brother through the rearview mirror. Once he saw him asleep, he turned to a different corner, losing the car ahead of them.
Shawn glanced sideways at him, puzzled, "Aren’t we going to the hospital?"
With his jaw clenched, Athan muttered sternly, "No. We’ll go home."
The anger in his voice made Shawn mum his mouth. He sighed and felt bad for Knox. However, he could understand why Athan chose to no longer get involved with the other alpha. Even at that moment, Shawn was still having goosebumps at what he witnessed.
That memory will surely haunt him in his sleep for a few nights. Shawn shuddered at that thought. He leaned his head on the window and closed his eyes. He fell asleep as well after that.
Meanwhile, several minutes after Athan’s car left, five vehicles arrived.
Roy stepped out of one of them, followed by his men from the other cars.
"Sir Roy," a man working for Kayla came to Roy and reported, "Mr. Del Valle was sent to the nearest hospital. He lost consciousness after suffering a head injury. My men are also cleaning the area."
With large strides, Roy made his way inside the scene. The other men were dragging Philip’s comrades outside, while a few were looking further back where a car was parked. Roy noticed the blood on the floor, so he asked to confirm, "Surely, no one called the police, right?"
"We can’t let them enter even if they came, Sir Roy," the man answered, pointing at the bloody scene before them. He pointed at the guy lying away from the car with a bleeding mouth, "He’s still breathing, just barely though. Let a few minutes pass and he’ll be dead."
Then, he cocked his head on the front of the car, where a body in a sitting position was leaning on the bumper.
Its head lowered, but even when Roy crouched and pushed the head sideward to get a better look, all he could make of was a forehead, nose, bloodied gums missing teeth, and the rest was just a lump of flesh and torn skin.
"He’s Philip, the chairman’s most trusted servant. He’s dead, sir. Already was, when we arrived. What should we do with the other guy?"
Roy stood. "Sent him to the hospital. We can’t have our boss committing another homicide."
The man waved his hand to his colleagues and gestured for the guy to be taken away. Roy ordered next, "Clean this mess. Bury the corpse and burn the car. I’ll leave this to you."
"Yes, sir," the man nodded after Roy tapped his shoulder. Then, the older bodyguard went to the hospital next.
Azrael’s executive secretary, Luis, was waiting outside the emergency room. Roy hastened his steps and asked anxiously, "Is it severe?"
Luis shook his head.
Roy sighed in relief. He slumped on the seat next to Luis. He looked like he aged a decade because of what happened. Roy was certain the chairman didn’t ask for his son to be harmed, however, Philip, bearing a grudge for the young master, might have acted upon himself.
Either way, the results weren’t good.
The secretary explained, stealing Roy’s attention again, "It’s a minor skull fracture and the doctor said it doesn’t require surgery. He only suffered a head wound. They’re stopping the bleeding for now and will do some tests later."
"That’s good to hear," the older alpha bodyguard lost his stony and expressionless composure. He let out a deep sigh as if preparing himself for what was to come.
As what the bodyguard dreaded the most came, the news of Chairman Nathaniel Horace’s youngest son getting kidnapped shocked the whole country. Everyone who didn’t know the family thought it was referring to the President of the HZ Clothing Brand.
However, inside that office, Rage Del Valle who wasn’t well acquainted with the family but not foolish enough to know who the news was referring to, grabbed the wireless telephone on his table and smashed it into the TV screen in the room.
The screen cracked and he shouted, "Dammit!"
Rage glared at the envelope on his desk.
At the wedding two days ago, before the bride could arrive, two police officers came and showed him a warrant of arrest. He pretended like he didn’t know anything as he calmly walked out with them.
Arriving at the police precinct, he asked for a lawyer and his legal team arrived. They fought for his innocence, claiming that evidence for the issuance of his warrant of arrest was fabricated and illegally obtained.
’You can’t arrest my client after relying on such fraudulent documents!’ One of Rage’s lawyers shouted at the chief of police and the judge over tea inside the former’s office.
Rage was seated on the single-seater as if he owned the place while looking down at the government officials. He wore a disappointed look on his face.
The judge wearily explained the procedure to the lawyer as though he were explaining things to a child, ’Attorney Geisler, the investigating judge may issue a warrant of arrest after an examination under oath of the complainant and their witness was conducted, without waiting for the conclusion of the preliminary investigation.’
The judge paid Rage a heavy look. He wasn’t perturbed by his sinister glare but was quite anxious about what the man would do after turning his back on them. So, the judge tried his best to explain the cause of the arrest.
The judge continued, ’A video of the kidnapping was sent to the police, along with a witness pointing at the person as ’one’ of your men, Chairman Del Valle. And it was confirmed by the initial investigation that this ’person’ is indeed working for you. I have no choice but to bring you in for interrogation. Please, cooperate.’
’This is absurd, Judge Dean! This person indeed works for the chairman but it doesn’t mean everything he does was ordered by my client. Honestly, your honor, the chairman said that this person hasn’t shown up his face for about a week now. How could there be a connection between them? Perhaps, this person was holding a grudge for the victim, so he kidnapped him,’ Attorney Geisler puffed an irritated breath.
The judge still insisted that the chairman stayed, not until Rage himself spoke, gathering everyone’s attention. He eyed the chief of police seated next to the judge with a condescending look implying – ’You dare accept my money and allow this to happen?’
Rage could only think of one possibility as to why these humans without backbones would flip him. He slowly tapped his fingers on the armrest of the sofa. Then, he asked, ’May I ask who pressured you into bringing me here with that lousy excuse you called evidence against me?’
Judge Dean gulped and sweated after being hit on the mark. He vaguely gave an answer, however, he could no longer hold the chairman and was then pressured into allowing bail as soon as he was brought in.
A knock on the door brought Rage back into the present. After watching that news, he now realized why the presiding judge bent.
Chairman Nathaniel Horace was a formidable foe, a man who came from a noble lineage and had been performing that so-called noblesse oblige, gaining the favor of the masses for his family’s charitable organizations.
The very opposite of his family’s origin and principles.
If he had known that, that omega was a Horace, he wouldn’t dare to kidnap him and would even give him and Azrael his blessing!
It was an opportunity to make a connection with that influential man, but now the connection he made was a meeting in the court instead.
The person who knocked stepped inside. "Chairman, Sir Azrael has regained consciousness."
Rage fumed, "Make sure that bastard won’t be able to step outside his hospital room. I will personally punish him for ruining my plans and embarrassing me in front of so many people!"
"I will have half of our men guard the hospital and subdue Roy. But what about his secretary, chairman?"
"Have someone monitor him while he works," Rage ordered as he grabbed the envelope containing a court summons.
"Yes, sir," the servant replied.
Rage, "Did you find Philip?"
"Not yet, sir. We’ve been trying to locate even one of his men, but they all seemed to have vanished like bubbles, except someone who was in the hospital. However, that person was comatose. So, we didn’t get anything to help us."
"Continue finding the guy," Rage gripped the document tightly. "He has to pay for his crimes, don’t you think? I can’t tolerate my servant’s disobedience, involving me in his personal revenge."
The female servant who had been serving Rage as the head maid in his mansion subtly smiled mysteriously. She nodded in understanding. "I will make sure Philip will be put behind bars and prove your innocence, Chairman."
The female servant excused himself. Soon, a rumor spread that Philip, the chairman’s disobedient and arrogant right-hand man, had taken revenge on Azrael by kidnapping his boyfriend.
