Bride To His Darkness -
Chapter 195: A Tricky Demon
Chapter 195: A Tricky Demon
"The building is surrounded." Ivan began as he put on his black gloves. "If you go through that door, you’ll be killed on the spot, with no explanation needed." He cautioned everyone whose gaze held panic, and Samantha quickly untied Amanda’s wrist from the bondage of the ropes. The girl’s gaze held her bewilderment upon realizing she was facing the King, and when the Courtesan who helped her pulled her veil above her face, Amanda’s light-brown eyes dilated in disbelief.
"It’s you!"
Her gaze was transfixed between His Majesty and the woman who had saved her life, not once but twice! She immediately stayed beside Samantha whilst her gaze shifted to Callum who let out a low menacing chuckle, despite being caught. Out of everyone, he seemed less frightened and didn’t move from the head cushion where he sat.
"It was about time, Your Majesty. Do you really think I’d be afraid of someone like you?"
"I’d like to think not, but your puny powers are akin to that of an ant in comparison with mine." Ivan’s gaze sliced through his own. "You should be afraid, cause you won’t like what’s coming your way, and the same goes for these disgusting worms." He pointed at the trembling councilmen who were beginning to take off their masks and bowing their heads on the ground to Ivan. They were frighteningly torn between running for their dear lives or just staying put, but whichever one they chose to pick in the end, it was rather clear that there was no escaping death.
"Do you know who I serve?" Callum rose from his cushion, alarm displaying in his eyes at the sight of his own accomplices already bowing to Ivan’s intimidating power. Did they forget the ritual? They had prepared themselves for this day and these Buffoons were already on their knees for the Vampire King? How pathetic!
"I will not bow my head to you!" He said to Ivan, contempt flashing in his pupils. "You don’t deserve my loyalty! You think you possess all the powers in this world just because you’re some freaking lunatic vampire??? Well allow me to break it to you that there is someone out there who is going to destroy and ruin your reign as King! He is coming for you! And he won’t rest till he’s taken everything away from–"
"How does that justify your actions?" Samantha rose to her own feet, unable to contain her anger while watching him spew absolute rubbish. "You speak with loathing for His Majesty whereas you’re not worth anything! Your selfishness made you deprive the innocent people of Fernwood their livestocks, and you increased the tax which is illegal to all villages. None of your actions will go unpunished, and most importantly, your audacity to humiliate this young lady in front of your repulsive councils! And your Mother thought she gave birth to a man! If she knew what her son would become by bargaining with the devil, she’d stick with animals or rather not have you at all!"
"You daring bitch!" When he raised his hand to hit Samantha, something swift had caught his wrist, stopping him from touching her, and when he looked to see what was restricting his movement, his eyes widened when a thin green vine wrapped his hand from nowhere, ceasing his assault.
Ivan had the intervention of stepping in, but when he sighted the vines that stealthily dug their way from under the ground to the top, he knew his little lamb was up to something, and presently, he couldn’t help but feel mesmerized at her display of prowess. When Callum, who felt restricted in the bondage of the vines, looked at Samantha with glaring eyes, a slap he never predicted landed on his face.
"Don’t you ever try to lay your nasty hands on me." She cautioned while pointing a finger at his awestruck face. Her green eyes were glazed with untold fury, but she had tears threatening to drop from them. It was mainly because his actions had somehow triggered the amount of anger she felt while going through the same torture in the hands of those slave traders, and she had promised herself never to let any man abuse her or anyone in that manner ever again. She was done with these men who think they can impose their illogical way of thinking on them.
"You think women are weak don’t you?" Samantha took a step back as she watched his disbelief morph into anger, obviously aggravated that he got slapped by a woman. Completely unaffected by his stare that threatened to tear her in two, she looked at Amanda whose bewildered gaze was fixed on her, almost frozen.
"come."
She beckoned the girl over, and while she stood up from where she sat to meet Samantha, Samantha held the girl’s wrist and made her face Callum.
"Hit him."
"W...what?!" Amanda tried to put her hand down, but Samantha’s firm grip made her stop.
"He is defenseless, and you have nothing to fear in the presence of His Majesty. He molested you not once, and in front of these people, are you really going to let him get away with it?" Samantha questioned Amanda whose eyes widened slightly, but when she turned her attention to Callum who warned her not to try it, her trembling fist balled firmly at her side. The memories of what he made her go through these past weeks of her life resurfaced, and with a little push of anger, she lifted her dainty hand to take off his mask before slapping Callum hard across the face.
"You’re a wicked man!" She slapped him for the second time, half-sobbing as she spoke. "I despise everything about you! You don’t deserve Fernwood! You don’t deserve anything!"
"Hey!" Callum yelled back, startling the angered Amanda who regained her senses. His bloodshot eyes were transfixed between the two ladies, and his jaw ticked. "I promise you’ll all pay for this! You think a little slap can deter me? I swear I will haunt each and everyone of your nightmares. You aren’t aware of what you’re getting yourselves into! It’s all coming to plan."
He laughed sardonically, licking away the blood that stained his lips. "Do you want to know how I have managed to boost my illegal trading? I had to use my Father as a sacrifice so I could appease the one I serve, and do you want to know what else I was granted? I wasn’t only granted the ability to make my illegal business progress the way I wanted it to, but I was also granted the ability to become the strongest.....demon."
"Strongest what..?" Samantha’s eyebrows furrowed as she backed away in apprehension, and the look on her face turned ghostly pale when the color of his eyes were dominated by streaks of black thread. His canines lengthened, and there was a surge of power that overwhelmed him to the point Ivan stepped forward while shielding Samantha and the girl behind him. His crimson eyes were laced with bewilderment as he watched the transformation, and with one forceful push, he had freed his hands from the vines that held him in place.
The rest of the council members were tempted to watch the mutation take place, a little bit of hope rising in their nerves to see Callum transforming, but all too soon, the light in their eyes began to fade when the transformation suddenly stopped.
Callum, who couldn’t wait to turn into a Demon and wipe out these underlings, was left shocked to the brim when his transformation froze. The sight not only stupefied him but everyone else watching.
"W... what’s happening?? Why did it stop??" He demanded from the councilmen whose faces displayed confusion and a deep dread. Instead of growing larger and monstrous, Callum’s body began to shrink!
"No no! This can’t be happening! HE TRICKED ME! THIS WASN’T WHAT HE PROMISED ME! HELP!"
Ivan’s gaze could not fathom the horror that was displaying before his very eyes. In his years of dealing with other creatures, he had never come across something so appalling, and while the body of Callum continued to shrink, Ivan immediately turned Samantha and the other girl around, averting their gaze from the sight, and when he did so, the body of Callum bursted into pieces.

"What a wonderful death sight!" The man behind the crystal gem mused when he sensed the death of his worshiper. A cruel smile tugged his lips as he reclined against the chair in his library chamber, staring intensely at the dark gem that glowed.
"And just like that he.... Died." He clicked his tongue. "How heartless can I be? I have a feeling I should feel bad for tricking the young man." His eyebrows creased dubiously, but on a second thought, it would be abnormal to feel bad for a man he just killed.
"Human souls are so easy to manipulate." He stood up from his chair, "just a few more souls and my precious Jewel will be back in my clutches! Enjoy the time while you still have the chance with my precious Jewel.... King Ivan." A malevolent smile curved his sinful lips.
