Chapter 194: Options For The Night
All eyes diverted towards Samantha who had blurted out the name of the girl, and her pupils dilated when the realization of her actions began to sink in. Her emerald green orbs turned to Callum whose gaze narrowed alarmingly, almost as if he was trying to discern the truth by penetrating her eyes with his own, but before he could bring himself to speak, Ivan held Samantha’s hand in a comforting gesture and said.
"You are not allowed to demand for such cocktails," He reprimanded Samantha, squeezing her hand lightly as he took in her consternation, "you can have them when we return to our domain, but we’re guests here, your actions could be deemed impolite."
Samantha blinked her lashes, conveying her puzzlement, but when she got the message from his eyes, she immediately played along with an apologetic bow of her head.
"Forgive me My Lord, I smelled the fragrance of Amanda cocktail and couldn’t help myself." She admitted in a low tone, and everyone’s nerves seemed to calm.
"Pay no heed to her cravings." Ivan tried to brush off the topic as irrelevant. Callum’s eyes held a little relief upon realizing she was referring to the Amanda cocktail, and not the Amanda he had sent his men to kidnap. The tension in the room was palpable, but after the explanation from Ivan, their guards instinctively dropped, and all attention returned to the petrified girl who was firmly tied up. She was wearing her loose night dress, and her black hair fell across her dainty face, obstructing anyone from noticing her expression.
Amanda sneakily glanced at the masked men with evident fear, and she became more frightened when Callum, her abductor, smiled lecherously in her direction. With his arms opened, he beckoned her over,
"Come."
Samantha’s frantic gaze darted between Callum and the petrified Amanda who was hesitant to go anywhere near him. When she didn’t move, the smile on Callum’s lips dropped slightly, and he brought his hands down. If there was one thing he disliked it would be disrespect, and all he did was tell the fragile human to come to him, but she had the audacity to ignore his polite command. Something in his eyes twinkled, expressing his displeasure, and he ordered.
"Bring her to me."
"No! No! Please! I don’t want to go anywhere! Let go of me!"
Samantha’s pupils shockingly dilated as she watched the girl get roughly dragged by her ropes, and her pleading voice rang loudly in the air as she tried to resist. Ivan’s gaze momentarily darkened at the abusive sight, and when the girl was made to kneel right in front of Callum, Samantha had the urge to rise up and stop this, but all too soon, Ivan’s hold on her wrist reprimanded her from doing so. She looked at him sharply, trying to free her hand from his grasp as she wouldn’t sit and watch this go on, but his hold on her wrist was unbelievably firm.
He shook his head with evident command in his blue eyes.
Before they strike, he needs to ensure that all the perimeters are well surrounded by guards, because after what these depraved men have done and plan on doing, he wouldn’t want a single person in this room to escape judgment day. His eyes conveyed the silent message that told Samantha to bear it for a few minutes, and Samantha could feel her chest heave as she lowered her gaze reluctantly, trying her very best to control her own raging emotions.
"Please.... Let me go! I don’t want to do this anymore!" The girl cried, tears streaming down her face, but all she got from them was their merciless chuckles, as though they enjoyed watching her plead, and Ivan’s fist angrily balled in restraint. He doesn’t know the girl, it wasn’t compulsory he did, but what they were putting her through could deeply traumatize her soul, and despite what he got from those letters, he felt glad he investigated the matter deeply or else, he wouldn’t have known about this abomination.
"Why didn’t you come?" Callum asked the girl, "I had sent my men to find you, but the more you hide, the more eager I am to seek you out. Don’t do that to me." His fingers reached for her face as he tilted her head up to meet her watery eyes, "do you remember what I said when we first met? If you keep resisting I’ll have your family dead by dawn. You’re such a fragile little helpless thing, don’t tempt me into doing what I have in mind."
"Please don’t do this to me.... What have I done to you to deserve this treatment?" Amanda’s gaze held her grief as she asked Callum, but even when she tried to push her tears away, she wasn’t strong enough to face Callum and his accomplices by herself. She closed her eyes when she felt his hand move to give her head a gentle pat, as though she was some kind of pet, but she wasn’t expecting for him to grab her hair roughly, eliciting a painful cry from her chapped lips.
The pitiful sight had Ivan feeling a little strange in the chest, but it wasn’t in a good way. What was happening in front of him was like a reminiscence of how he had rendered his little lamb vulnerable to his threats on that specific night. He was sitting just like this, with her on her knees before him, pleading.... he instantly felt a surge of self-loathing, and he had to look away to stop himself from recalling more of his heinous act.
His eyes drifted to Samantha who had grabbed his wrist, as if she was desperate to hold on to something. Her glazed green eyes were fixed on the traumatizing scene in front of her, and whenever she heard the girl scream in agony, her grip on Ivan’s wrist would subconsciously tighten, and she would look away, as if what was happening was making her recollect a nightmare she no longer wished to visit.
Ivan didn’t mind that her nails were digging into his skin.
"Please, help me!" Amanda glanced desperately at the group of men who were seated to the Courtesans. Callum freed her from his clutches and watched as she crawled around to meet the Courtesan’s for help. They simply avoided her touch as if she was dirt, leaning away from her advances, and when she got to Samantha, she held her hand and pleaded, not even realizing at that point whom she was meeting to seek help from.
"I don’t want to be a part of this... please, you won’t ignore the help of a sister would you? What if I was your sister?...."
"There are two options for you." Callum proclaimed to Amanda, "you either be with me, or you get sold to one of them." He pointed at the seven men who were seated on their cushion. "The one with the highest bidder will claim you for tonight..... So what are your choices? Is it going to be me, or do you wish to become a meal to one of these gentlemen? That can be offered in just a few minutes."
"I don’t want to be sold!" Amanda shook her head, "I don’t want to be here! Let me go!" She cried out when the two men that brought her in began to drag her back, but to the girl’s surprise, the Courtesan with the green eyes firmly held her hand, refusing to release her for the two men to heartlessly manhandle.
"She doesn’t want to go with either of you, so let her be." Samantha found the strength to speak as she glared at the two men who gazed, obviously stupefied, and there was silence. "She’s not a mat that you can walk on, she’s a human, she’s just eighteen so how can you treat a human in this manner?"
"Lord Ethan, I think you need to control your woman!" Callum’s eyes flared within the mask, infuriated that a woman would dare to speak when his own members are afraid to refute him. "What are you two doing standing there like a bunch of fools?? Bring me that girl!" He commanded his men who dared to hold Samantha’s wrist, and when Ivan’s eyes darted to the callous hand that grabbed his little lamb’s precious wrist, something in him snapped, and the color in his eyes significantly switched.
Something ominous shimmered in his irises, and the men who felt they could do as they please, were left aghast when their tightened grasp on Samantha’s wrist loosened. It was like a strange force was controlling the movement of their hands, and in no time, they had freed Samantha and the girl from their rough hold. The sight had piqued everyone’s alarm when they watch the two men try to control their fingers, but all of a sudden, it bent backwards, their bones snapping in reaction, whilst a cry of agony tore from their mouths as they fell to the floor, rolling at the sight of their twisted fingers that bled in pain.
Gasps of horror escaped the mouths of everyone as they gazed at the two men’s awful condition. When their eyes moved to look at whom they believed was Lord Ethan, Ivan took off his mask and glasses so they could see his face. He gently placed them on the carpeted ground, and when he lifted his eyes to look at them, their faces paled when the once blue eyes were now ominously dark red in color. At that moment, everyone’s mind concluded on the King of GreenHollow, although they haven’t seen the King themselves, the sight they were presented with was akin to the dreadful aura that only a vampire Lord could possess.
"Looking at the King in the eyes I must say I acknowledge your disrespect." Ivan proclaimed as he poured himself another cup of wine. "Your first mistake was abusing the girl in front of me, your second, and the worst mistake you could think of committing is laying those dirty hands on my woman."
The cup in his hand was mercilessly crushed by his grip, and when everyone was tempted to rise and run away, they heard a loud, declaring voice coming from outside.
"THIS IS THE ROYAL COMMANDER SPEAKING, WE HAVE THE BUILDING TIGHTLY SURROUNDED! THE ONLY WAY TO ESCAPE IS BY WELCOMING DEATH! AND YOU’RE ALL WILLING TO TRY!"
