Chapter 134: Trapped In A Net

Chapter 134: Trapped In A Net

—-

Samantha quietly sat up on the cozy mattress after changing her dress.

Her emerald green eyes gleamed as they surveyed the beautiful, not so spacious but comfortable room she had been told to stay in. Unlike Lord Ivan’s chamber which consisted of white and mostly black in both furnitures and architectures, Samantha couldn’t stop herself from comparing both rooms as there was a stark difference in their level of taste. Humming to herself as her shoulders dropped, Samantha finally laid properly on her bed to get some sleep, but not after she hoped for Ivan to be safe since his absence only made her think more about how he was doing.

Shaking the elusive thought from her head as it only made her grow more worried, Samantha closed her eyes and tried to get some sleep.

That same night, when Ivan returned to the Palace, the shadow knights were nowhere at sight, which meant they had finally been gotten rid off. He no longer sensed their presence within the Palace vicinity, but he could still sense a strong dark aura that only Lord Draven was capable of possessing, which meant he hadn’t left the Palace yet. Fighting back against one of the Four Lords was a mistake he shouldn’t have made, there were consequences, but he didn’t regret it since his little lamb was finally in a place where he knew her safety would be secured.

Feeling his wings close behind him, his expression contorted into one of pain as they shrunk into the smallest size, almost as if his bones were being broken and stuffed back into his back. Ivan nearly dropped to his knees as the pain felt almost too agonizing to be true, but he had to get used to whatever changes were happening to him, besides, he was starting to become more inhuman than he had imagined.

Making his way into the Palace that had gone eerily quiet, the doors leading to the hall room were opened for him so he could make his way through. Suddenly, a strange perceptible sound echoed in the air, forcing Ivan to freeze at the entrance, his sharp senses tingling with a sense of unease. Sensing danger, Ivan’s eyes darted across the room, trying to find the source of his disturbance, but when he saw no one present, he took a step into the hall just incase.

SWOOSH!

The sound of a net falling from above had caught Ivan’s senses, it billowed through the air with stunning speed, and since he wasn’t prepared for this action, the net dropped on him, entangling his figure and feeling surprisingly heavy against him! Ivan let out a grunt as he tried to free himself from the bondage of the net, but it had restricted his movements, whilst he found himself trapped within the unexpected snare.

"The hell...!"

At once, Ivan was surrounded by guards, including the Four Lords and his two other brothers whom he hadn’t killed yet. He wouldn’t say he was surprised since he had expected them to show up sooner or later, but he was rather impressed with their timing. His two step brothers, Hadrian and Emeric, the main puppets of Eamon, emerged from within the shadows. A palpable aura of power radiated off them as everyone had him surrounded, despite being trapped in their net, and he knew exactly why... this is the reason why he had to get his little lamb somewhere safe.

"What sort of trickery is this?" He questioned Draven as he strained himself against the net, but his supernatural strength seemed futile again the woven mesh that refused to budge. His frustration grew, and his fangs protruded slightly from his lips, but then everything ceased when Hadrian suddenly leaned down to press a pendant that glowed with an eerie light against the chest of Ivan, and a low painful groan escaped Ivan’s lips when the unforeseen touch caused his flesh to sizzle like exposed embers, weakening him, and Draven turned his attention to the remaining three Lords before saying out loud.

"Did you see the effect of the pendant? Ivan’s not a vampire Lord, but a Demon Lord." He announced, and the faces of everyone present drained upon seeing the stone that was meant to attack Demons, work on Ivan’s skin too. Emeric approached his step-brother who was presently trying to recover from the aftereffect of the pendant, but he took it from Hadrian’s grip and mercilessly pressed it against the chest of Ivan one more time, burning his skin in ways that weakened him physically and mentally too, whilst the pain amplified, making him writhe under the heavy net.

"That’s enough." The familiar voice had Emeric stopping in his torture, and when Ivan lifted his gaze to see who had disrupted it, his eyes widened slightly to see Eamon take unhurried strides to stand before his brothers who hadn’t shifted their glaring eyes away from him. Ivan blinked in bafflement, his eyes almost exposing his disbelief to see Eamon standing in front of him.

"Did you really think those plants could get rid of me?" Eamon questioned Ivan before his shrewd eyes narrowed at Ivan. "Don’t place such disappointments on my skills. However, what you are facing presently is due to your actions of murdering my Mother and sister to a plant! You saved a human undergoing trial, you fought with one of the Four Lords and worst of all, dared to possess the demonic powers that you are not entitled to have as a vampire."

"You must be surprised that this little stone here actually burns a demon, well... it’s not an ordinary stone you see, even the effects of the burns are there to torture you in more ways than one. You went behind the royal family and now the blood of a demon equally runs in your vein? Father always had big hopes when it came to you, he must be disappointed to have even had you."

Ivan, who felt exponentially dizzy from having to experience the burning pain of the pendant could feel his vision morphing as he could no longer see straightly. He tried to stand up, but the strange pendant had shockingly drained his energy, he could hardly get his body to stand, even if the net was removed from his body.

Alistair and Tobias who had hidden themselves upstairs, watched as Ivan suffered once again in the hands of his brothers and the four Lords. Alistair, whose eyes narrowed with a mixture of fury and desperation, wanted to reveal himself in front of everyone and save his cousin, but Tobias had stopped him from doing so. Looking at his brother, Tobias shook his head before dragging Alistair to a corner where they could not be spotted.

"Why the hell are we hiding?" Alistair finally asked his brother who clicked his tongue in obvious displeasure. "Those vermins turned Ivan into a Demon after shoving that stupid shard in his chest. Their denial and display of cluelessness is really eating me up! I can’t stand them, and Lord Draven’s hatred for humans is getting in the way."

"We’re not hiding."

"What are we doing?"

"If we go out there, we’ll be placed in the same position as Ivan. Risking our lives out there won’t be the best solution, rather, I say we go to Vesunard and find the forged seal. If we can find it, then we can, hopefully, get Ivan out of this mess." Tobias suggested, "they’re all here, that leaves the forged seal unprotected in Vesunard, if we can prove the decree fake, Ivan will hold the most power again."

"Forgive my interruption." The voice of Herbert had the two vampires turning around to see him stepping into the balcony where they stood, and he bowed his head. "If you do not mind, I can be off great help in your quest. I think it will be best if we end this once for all in order to free His Lordship from those people that have him tied to their rules."

"Can you do something for me?" Tobias asked Herbert who nodded politely. "Ivan will be locked somewhere more secure than a dungeon, if you can meet him privately and tell him about everything we’re going to discuss right here and now, just incase there’s something we need to know before getting there, kindly do it before dawn...and also, to make sure he’s alright."
