Chapter 99: 097 Then let her not be there
Actually, Ava Walker didn’t know what stage the relationship between Hailey Hill and Atlas Hallow had reached, but years ago, Flix Hallow nearly broke off his relationship with Atlas Hallow over this woman. Later on, this woman disappeared; however, it turned out she had never left, living right under Flix Hallow’s nose the entire time.
"How much money do you want?" Upon hearing this, Hailey Hill’s face, already pale, grew even more ghastly. Under the light, her whole face looked terrifyingly like a white candle.
She actually thought she wanted money? This woman was truly stupid. With Atlas Hallow, she could have as much as she wanted. What she wanted wasn’t money; it was Atlas Hallow.
"I’m not here for money; I’m here to help you." Ava Walker’s smile deepened. She had reason to convince Hailey Hill that she was there to help her.
In the afternoon cafe, inside a sealed private room, two women sat facing each other, each with their own ulterior motives.
"Speaking of which, we could possibly become sisters-in-law. I know it’s Uncle who disapproved of your marriage, thinking that marrying the elite Charlotte Miller would better match Atlas. But you don’t know; she’s a vicious woman. She framed my mom and drove her out of the Hallow Family." Tears welled up in Ava Walker’s eyes, giving her a pitiful appearance.
"Atlas has never mentioned this to me." No matter how many thoughts a woman has, just one word touching her heart can make them seem like instant friends.
The word ’sisters-in-law’ instantly hit Hailey Hill’s weak spot, closing the distance she initially held against Ava Walker.
"Of course he won’t mention it; right now, he’s protecting Charlotte Miller, or maybe they’re still in the bliss of newlyweds. It’s possible Charlotte’s methods are so clever, people like us can’t even imagine them." Ava watched as Hailey Hill’s initially stiff posture gradually relaxed, indicating that Hailey had begun to believe her.
This was a good start.
"Mrs. Hallow invited me out; is there something you need?" Hailey Hill wouldn’t be naive enough to think Ava Walker just wanted to have a cup of coffee with her. She tugged at her shawl and spoke softly, bowing her head.
"Of course, I don’t like Charlotte Miller. I don’t know if you truly love Brother Hallow. If you love Brother, then you simply can’t watch her deceive him. I heard she’s about to join the grandest development project in Hallow Clan’s history. Since entering Hallow Clan, she went from playing at working to becoming Brother’s secretary, and now she’s taken one of the most crucial positions in the development project. I think Brother’s been completely charmed by her, following her in everything. Who knows what might happen in the future? The presidency might even be offered up just to please Charlotte." After Ava calmly finished speaking, she watched Hailey Hill’s entire demeanor as if she’d suffered a heavy blow, unable to hide the paleness of her face despite her elaborate makeup.
Having been isolated from the world for several years, Hailey Hill seemed entirely focused on Atlas Hallow. She didn’t know someone had dug a big pit, ready to push her step by step to the edge, then shove her in, burying her alive.
"Brother Hallow has only been temporarily enchanted. I think he might still like you. I’ve heard you were his first love?" Ava Walker cursed maliciously in her heart, hoping this so-called first love would die and go to the Inferno. But until Charlotte Miller was dealt with, she had to keep her around.
"We were classmates, but our statuses are worlds apart..." Hailey Hill fell into years of memories; actually, she was specially admitted into the best school due to her special skills. Simply put, it was because she danced very well, and the school needed such beautiful girls to add prestige. The entire family was over the moon upon receiving notice. It was a famous affluent school, the best environment, the highest quality teachers, and most crucially, the students there were immensely wealthy.
The Hill Family’s hope was that Hailey Hill could, with her beauty, marry into a wealthy family. Yet, they never anticipated the later events that shattered this dream.
Memories were like bitter herbs dissolving on her tongue, so bitter she couldn’t swallow or breathe.
"It’s fine; now Brother Hallow is in charge of the whole Hallow Clan. If he still likes you, it won’t be an issue. The only annoyance now is Charlotte Miller clings to him every day. I fear Brother Hallow has been badly charmed by that Fox Spirit." Ava Walker’s large eyes watched Hailey Hill, giving a sense of sincerity. She knew what appearance was most likely to deceive a woman like Hailey Hill.
"I can’t do anything about it. He doesn’t come to see me much anymore." Even when he did, it was merely to have dinner with her. Even if he stayed overnight, it was in the guest room. Not only did Atlas Hallow not want to touch her, but she also lacked the confidence to have any intimate interaction with him.
How could a dry body bring pleasure to a man, especially someone as strong and fierce as Atlas Hallow?
"Once Charlotte Miller is gone, Brother Hallow will naturally come back to you." Ava Walker was inching closer to her goal, and it seemed like she was about to achieve it.
She noticed Hailey Hill was wavering.
Facing a man like Atlas Hallow, what woman wouldn’t waver? Not only Hailey Hill, but Ava herself was utterly moved, though she couldn’t show it.
How could he ever come back to her? Yet, she couldn’t speak of this to anyone, couldn’t say her abdomen was completely devoid of any female organs, rendering her an incomplete woman?
However, there was one thing Ava Walker said that was true: Atlas Hallow was indeed captivated by Charlotte Miller. What she needed was someone to be a tool for birthing a child with Atlas, not a woman who would make Atlas lose his mind.
"She’s already here, and I can’t do anything." Besides, it was her choice; her child had to come from a noble mother. Hailey Hill hated Charlotte Miller but felt the Miller Family’s daughter was what a noble lady should be, a contradiction.
Hailey Hill had sent Charlotte Miller to Atlas Hallow herself, and now she deeply regretted it.
Her initial thoughts were too simple, and she believed Atlas Hallow wouldn’t like a girl like Luna Miller. But who would have thought that on the day of registration, the Miller Family would switch people?
"Then make her disappear; it’s not difficult," Ava Walker leaned forward, her icy voice spilling forth from her flame-red lips.
