Chapter 52: 050 The benefits of fingers, haven’t you experienced them before?
After reluctantly taking a few bites, she chatted with her parents for a while, telling them that everything was fine at the Hallow family, and finally left under their guilt-ridden gazes.
Ultimately, she had to go back; no matter how much she longed for her parents’ presence and the warmth of home, she had to return to the Hallow family.
Feeling a bit agitated, she walked out the door, only to see a car parked outside.
It was the car the Hallow family always used. The driver, seeing the Miller family gates open, promptly got out of the car and opened the door.
"Young Madam, I am here to take you home." The uniformed driver said respectfully, immediately opening the car door for Charlotte Miller.
Atlas Hallow actually sent someone to the Miller family to pick her up. What was the meaning behind this? Under the guise of concern, was he probing to see if she had really gone back to her family’s house?
Who would have thought that Atlas Hallow could be such a petty man? Could she still deceive him?
Charlotte Miller got into the car and waved at her parents standing outside the iron gate, her smile concealing a deeper meaning unseen by others.
As the car gradually moved away, Charlotte Miller slowly withdrew her smile, her soft voice sounded within the enclosed space of the car: "When did the Young Master return?"
It’s only ten o’clock now. He’s usually busy until the early hours, so it’s rare for him to make time amidst his hundred affairs to have someone come to pick her up, even though his motives might not be pure.
"He’s been back for a while. He was worried that it would be unsafe for you to come home late, so he specifically asked me to pick you up. From now on, I’ll be responsible for your outings," the driver replied to Charlotte Miller’s question while focusing on driving. Their Young Master was very concerned about Young Madam’s safety, assigning him to be responsible for her travels in the future.
Charlotte Miller’s heart skipped a beat. Wasn’t there something planned for tonight? But he was already back, which meant she had to be careful when she reached the Hallow family home.
The car slowly drove into the Hallow estate, and when she got out and walked into the hall, it was already empty.
This was not surprising; it seemed the Hallow family’s members never appeared unless it was meal time, as if these people didn’t exist.
She called the elevator and went up to the fifth floor, pushing open the bedroom door. Atlas Hallow was sitting lazily on the sofa by the window, gazing outside at the scenery, holding a glass of red wine that shimmered with a captivating, pigeon-blood red hue under the light.
"Did you have a pleasant evening?" The man’s deep, mellow voice mingled with the richness of the red wine, spreading through the air and sending ripples down her spine.
"Not pleasant. I told Luna Miller that I would oversee the use of the money. Do you think saying that would make for a pleasant evening?" Charlotte Miller removed her shoes and walked barefoot toward the dressing room. She wanted to take a good bath since she hadn’t had much lamb tonight but instead got herself into a mess.
She truly felt quite unpleasant. Atlas Hallow put down his wine glass, followed her into the dressing room, and blocked her path, reaching out to pinch her chin: "I let you go home, and you still tell me you’re not happy. What would make you happy, playing with me?"
He intentionally twisted her meaning of unhappiness, a trace of ambiguous smile playing at the corner of his mouth as his fingers slowly moved downward...
Charlotte Miller suppressed her temper, then suddenly lowered her head and bit down hard on Atlas Hallow’s finger, biting fiercely as if to vent the unhappiness of the past few days.
When she let go, there were distinctly two deep bite marks on his long, slender finger, the upper half of the finger evidently swollen and reddened from the bite.
"Are you a dog?" He remarked, truly surprised at how hard she bit. Atlas Hallow put the saliva-coated finger she had bitten into his mouth and sucked on it, "You’ve also experienced the benefits of these fingers. If you damage them, it’s your loss..."
