Chapter 174: 115 Be honest with each other
Rowan Diaz actually remembered that in the meeting just now, no one dared to say much, but Ava Walker’s attitude was basically aligned with his.
"President Hallow has his own ideas, after all, the company is his. We just provide some suggestions." Rowan Diaz is not a fool. He couldn’t criticize Atlas Hallow just because Ava Walker’s attitude was somewhat similar to his in the meeting just now.
After all, Ava married Amir, officially making her a Hallow. He couldn’t criticize Atlas Hallow in front of Ava, but he always felt that Atlas was truly captivated by beauty.
"Manager Diaz, this approach is very good. If President Hallow makes an incorrect decision, and everyone still follows blindly, it would be disastrous." Ava took a sip of juice, calculating how to get rid of Charlotte Miller.
Seeing her with Atlas Hallow all day long was driving her crazy. She wished she could push Charlotte off the top floor, letting her fall and break into pieces.
"President Hallow has vouched for Secretary Miller, but in the future, she can’t be called Secretary Miller." Rowan Diaz was unwilling. The companies he found all have backgrounds in the financial sector. Although they’ve had some unsavory incidents, in the grand scheme of the financial world, which isn’t like that? Lending, leverage, how pure can her so-called Currency City be?
The foreign practices simply don’t work domestically.
"I don’t like these things. Some directors have questions about this. Maybe we could all discuss it properly." Ava said with a hint of something else. Some things she couldn’t come forward to do herself, but she could always let others do it. After so many years with the Hallows and not a short time in the company, she did have some connections.
Atlas Hallow’s authoritarianism wasn’t a one-day issue. Everyone was waiting for an opportunity; maybe this was the best one.
Because everyone knew they couldn’t shake Atlas, but due to discomfort in their hearts, they would somehow resent and reject those around him. Charlotte happened to be someone who would be disliked, no matter how excellent she was.
Everything she did would be negated.
Ava’s lips curled in a smile. The name might sound nice, but she was determined never to let Charlotte have peace.
She just wanted to see Charlotte cry and go back home. Right, she doesn’t have a home now; the Miller Family’s property has been sold, and her parents have run abroad. By then, she should really be left with nowhere to go, totally trapped.
She was just waiting for this day, and when Charlotte was pregnant, Ava would kindly tell her she was just a tool for others. Would Charlotte be so infuriated that she’d die?
After talking with Rowan for a long time, Ava returned to her office, locked the door, and called Hailey Hill.
"I’ll say it again. If we are on the same front, your words are empty. You say Brother Hallow intends to use Charlotte to bear children for you all, then at least you need to provide evidence. Otherwise, helping you could mean my doom." Ava wasn’t a fool. What she needed was evidence. Even if Charlotte wasn’t pregnant, she could still ruin her.
"A child being born is the best evidence." What kind of evidence should she bring out now? Hailey said displeasedly, with boundless resentment in her heart for Ava, but the time wasn’t ripe yet.
"No, I won’t help you like this. At least you could get some recording of a promise from Brother Hallow himself; that shouldn’t be too hard, right?" Ava was digging a hole, just she wasn’t sure if Hailey would so easily jump in.
"Are you trying to deceive me? Didn’t Brother Hallow promise you anything? I don’t think it’s possible. Now Brother Hallow is spoiling Charlotte a lot. In today’s company meeting, someone mentioned Charlotte, and Brother Hallow lost his temper. How could he bear to?" Ava had a cold smile on her lips. Sometimes appropriate provocation could have unexpected results.
"I’m not deceiving you. He promised me a child, and that child will be the successor. It will be our child. I’ll prove it to you." Hailey said angrily, her eyes burning red with those words.
"Then I’ll wait for your evidence. If you can’t do it, don’t stress. After all, Brother Hallow isn’t your average man." In the end, no matter how chaotic it already was, she just watched as Hailey and Charlotte turned against each other bitterly.
Someone would eventually reap the benefits of others’ hard work; she just had to wait.
Some people always wonder if rich people’s meals are particularly good, but actually, they’re not.
Two simple meals, although with more fruits and desserts, she ate braised ribs, the bones tender and the meat soft, so delicious she licked the meat juices off her fingers with satisfaction.
There were still a few bites of rice left in the lunch box that she just couldn’t finish, probably because the simple meals delivered to the top floor had a few more ribs. She was stuffed with meat, and as she licked her fingers like a kitten, Atlas silently ate those few bites of rice in her lunch box.
"If you don’t issue financial products, how much funding can your channels raise?" Atlas opened a pack of wet wipes and then took Charlotte’s hand, wiping each of her fingers clean.
"All of it, but if the Bairds come in, are you open to it?" Charlotte hesitated a bit but eventually spoke up.
This was an experimental commercial project, with its unique charm, or might even make history, so many were interested.
"Oliver Baird?" Atlas believed Ethan Baird wasn’t that ambitious; it should be Oliver wanting to get involved.
This financial genius written into textbooks was said to be arrogant and untouchable. He hadn’t been in the country for a long time. Maybe China’s rapid development in recent years had attracted quite a few people.
"It doesn’t really matter who. The question is, are you open to letting others into this project?" Charlotte looked at her now-clean fingers that were no longer sticky, as clean as they were before eating.
"I’m not." Atlas wasn’t really unable to raise funds but just wanted to test the waters.
"Then that’s a different matter. I’m not quite confident about amounts too large, but more than fifty percent is no problem." After all, despite Currency City’s influence, it was just a two-year-old company, not as resourceful as some domestic companies established for decades.
"Whom would you lean toward, me or Ethan?" Atlas looked at Charlotte, her calm face shining with wisdom.
"You and Ethan asked the same question. I lean toward Ethan, not just because I’ve known him longer, but because hoarding resources won’t help, and the issues we face later might not just be funding gaps. Next year will be the most dangerous year for the entire economy." Charlotte’s eyes showed a hint of worry. Risks always lurked; she’d already sensed the prelude. She couldn’t believe Atlas didn’t feel it.
"You’re very honest..." Atlas stood up, towering over her, creating a visually imposing presence.
"As you wish, didn’t you always wish for my honesty?" Charlotte smiled, tugging on his sleeve and taking his hand.
Looking down at her like a child, her smile carried a hint of coquetry, and Atlas found himself unable to be angry. She was stating facts, but hearing her lean toward Ethan still made him somewhat jealous.
Atlas always separated work from personal emotions, but when it came to Charlotte, things seem to change somewhat.
He had never truly loved a woman, as love had always been a luxury for him. He couldn’t afford such feelings, nor could any woman become this luxurious delicacy, but Charlotte’s appearance made him realize he should give it a try.
Believing love was just an illusion, but when it appeared real, Atlas suddenly found himself overturning all previous notions and wanting to possess her completely, even her thoughts.
This was the first luxury item he ever wanted to own in his life, something real and tangible.
"Mrs. Hallow, be honest with me forever then..." He elegantly leaned down, gently touching her lips, his voice melting into them.
"In marriage, what is needed is for both parties to be honest with each other." Charlotte didn’t directly answer this, her clear eyes facing Atlas without backing down.
"Deal." Atlas touched Charlotte’s face, his response crisp and direct.
Once everything was settled, he would send Hailey abroad; he hoped the world would consist only of him and her, simply as that.
However, for everything to be done without a hint or action, it required some extra steps.
