Chapter 126: 102 Can I not care about your business?

Her worries? She didn’t have worries, just troubles.

"Not exactly worries." Charlotte Miller could feel the sofa dip slightly as she sat down, and his presence swiftly enveloped her. His aura, unmistakably there yet invisible, spread from his breath, seeping into her clothing fibers, her pores, her hair, and finally, with her own breath, into her very core.

Atlas Hallow looked at Charlotte Miller’s small face; even her normally warm and bright eyes seemed a bit dimmed.

There must be something on her mind, but she just didn’t want to tell him.

Why did the Miller Family need to leave so abruptly? Was it because of Luna Miller, or something else?

Before she came in, Atlas Hallow was full of anger, wanting to pry open her lips to get the truth out of her, but upon seeing her almost translucent, pale face, he was suddenly filled with reluctance.

He had a hundred ways to make Charlotte herself confess, yet with her sitting beside him, he simply didn’t want to coerce her anymore.

Perhaps it was because their marriage was inherently somewhat unfair to Charlotte, so Atlas was suppressing his emotions. But it was the very unfairness in their marriage that made him filled with unease.

Charlotte moving the whole family to the United States was likely for one of two reasons.

The first, more optimistic reason might be that Luna Miller had gotten into enough trouble over the past two years, and maybe sending her to the United States and going through a few restorative surgeries would sort things out. After all, Charles Miller really wasn’t cut out for business.

And the second reason...

The second reason would be more dangerous.

The hospital Luna Miller was rushed to was the very one Hailey Hill had been admitted to, and the timing was the same.

Had Charlotte discovered something?

Was it because of this discovery that she decided to send her loved ones far away and immerse herself in chaos, waiting for her chance to escape?

It wouldn’t be unusual for a normal person to have such thoughts, but she couldn’t afford to have them.

Because Atlas Hallow realized he liked having her by his side. That feeling was like his life had always been engulfed in grayness, and Charlotte was a warm, colorful beam of light that seeped through the gaps, transforming his entire world.

"Luna Miller got into a car accident, hit someone, the truck driver was severely injured, and his wife miscarried three months into her pregnancy. My dad is currently handling business abroad, so I’m left to deal with all of this, so..." Charlotte was exceedingly sensitive. Although Atlas didn’t show it, something was different in the aura he emanated.

Restrained but ruthless...

At that moment, he was restrained, but if he lost control, he would be incredibly ruthless.

What had he discovered? The Miller Family selling off all their assets, she knew it wouldn’t be long till he found out because such things would eventually reach Atlas’s ears. So Charlotte thought it better to tell him herself than wait for him to ask.

"Is it difficult?" Upon hearing Charlotte voluntarily talk about it, Atlas Hallow surprisingly felt a faint sense of relief.

Charlotte didn’t intend to hide it from him, even if she hadn’t brought it up herself.

Seeing her clear face, with long eyelashes trembling, exuding a kind of fragile and helpless beauty, made him feel a twinge of pity. It indeed was a hard task for her to handle.

"Why didn’t you tell me?" If he’d known, he would have handled it properly. She wouldn’t have had to trouble herself over it.

Charlotte lifted her gaze to meet his briefly, then turned to look out the window. The gray fog surrounding the city seemed to echo her current state of mind.

She sighed deeply, her voice resonant and full of tension, slowly rising in the air: "These days, it seems like your matters are more pressing than mine. I thought you might be busy. Besides, I can handle these matters myself."

He was busy keeping someone else company, whom she had picked up from the hospital. Hailey Hill was living in an apartment across the pedestrian walkway from their place. Although all signs pointed to a close relationship between Atlas Hallow and this woman, without hearing or seeing it herself, she didn’t want to speculate wildly.
