Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 207: I will bring you back
Chapter 207: I will bring you back
Rhea confusingly glanced at Lilac, "You mean all that wasn’t real?" She asked.
"Of course, it’s not. All this black smokes, it is illusion magic." Lilac explained and slammed away the dagger in Rhea’s hand, "You is almost going to kill yourself!"
The dagger fell to the ground with a clatter, and Rhea’s eyes followed the sound. It was only then that she realized she had been clutching tightly onto the dagger just now.
Rhea’s body was still slightly shaking from what she’d just experienced. The images of Draven being ripped open by the smoke made her shudder and terrified. It took awhile before her body began to stabilize. If Lilac hadn’t gotten here somehow, Rhea realized she would have killed herself to save a fake Draven.
She looked around, "Where...where is Draven?" She asked, with a sense of panic in her voice as she couldn’t find her husband.
"I don’t know. Myself was only able to follow you because you are my savior and I can sense you. And I is think the person who casts this spell is a very powerful person, i wouldn’t have been able to find you if you is not my savior." She said, "Mister is not connected to me, so it is unpossible for me to know where he is around here...and myself don’t think he will be safe wherever he is now."
Rhea wiped away the tears that had clutched to her lashes. Then, with determination, she decided, "I will find him wherever he is. Let’s look around, we..."
Before Rhea could finish her words, she was interrupted by a voice,"Are you looking for Draven?"
Rhea swirled around to the direction of the voice and noticed Alina standing in midair. She looked completely different, her eyes appeared lifeless and emotionless. She looked down at her with such hateful gaze that made Rhea feel a chill down her spine.
"Where is Draven?" Rhea demanded.
Alina laughed mockingly, "Worry not, Rheanna. Your dragon is right here!" She waved her hand. Immediately, an enormous blue and silver Dragon fell from the sky, he landed with a booming sound on the ground. His entire body was shaking violently like an animal on the verge of being slaughtered. Blood flowed out from the opened wounds on his head and stomach.
Rhea felt her blood run cold as she recognized the dragon as Draven. Everything seemed to blur out of her senses and all she saw was her husband dying on the ground.
"Draven..."
Alina laughed, "Did you think this man loves you wholeheartedly?" She said, "He doesn’t love you, he only brought you to the dragon realm because he wanted to play with your heart before he ripped you open and remove his core."
"You are a bloody liar, Alina!" Rhea yelled out between her tears. She was aware how much Draven loved and cared about her. He might have wanted to keep her around because of the core in the past, but now that had changed. He agreed to marry her because he loved and wanted her. She would never believe anything anyone said about her husband.
Alina’s eyes darkened dangerously as she saw that Rhea didn’t believe her words. She then clenched her teeth, "Don’t believe me, but whatever you do, you will never leave this spell. The both of you will die in here. Your darling dragon has no core, he would die before you know it, while you, who have the core in your body, have no idea how to use it to break this spell." She smiled, "You will be locked in my spell and you will be forced to watch your poor dragon die before your eyes."
Rhea’s gaze swept towards Draven, who looked to be in so much pain as he continued to shake on the ground. He would die if she didn’t do anything. But what could she do to save him? Rhea thought desperately as tears streamed down her eyes. If she gave him back his core, he would survive, but if she didn’t, they would both die.
Rhea was about to run towards Draven to save him, when she felt a hand pull her back. She turned her head and saw Lilac’s uncleared face in her vision.
"My savior!" Lilac slapped her shoulder, "You almost fall into another trap, you can’t believe anything under this spell!"
Rhea was slapped back to her senses again. She glanced around and noticed Alina was gone, even the dragon was nowhere in sight. She then glanced down at her chest: five fingers curled into claws, she was actually going to try to rip her own chest open with her fingers!
Rhea broke out into cold sweat as she realized how dangerous this spell was. Everything felt so real until she was snapped back by Lilac. At the thought that someone was manipulating her mind, she felt a sense of fear and panic rush into her blood. She had Lilac to wake her up from the illusion, but what about Draven? He surely had no one to do so, what if he fell into it and ended up hurting himself?
She turned to Lilac, "You are not being controlled by the spell, are you?" She asked.
"Nay, myself is not a human being," she explained, "I is not affected by the illusion because myself also have similar magic that manipulate minds, so I can see through this one."
Rhea quickly thought of a plan on how to find Draven before something bad happens to him. She bent down and ripped off the hem of her dress. Then she used it to blindfold her eyes while saying, "Since you are not affected by the spell, you will be the one to lead the way. We have to find my husband alive and kicking no matter what."
Lilac was taken aback by the task given to her. She pointed to her chest, "Myself?" She then quickly waved her slender hands, "No, myself can not take such huge responsibility of finding Mister. I don’t think myself can lead your way, i..."
Before she could finish, Rhea grasped her shoulders, "Don’t doubt yourself, Lilac. I have only you to depend on now." She pleased, "Please help me find him, I believe in you."
"Alright, myself will help you." She grasped Rhea’s hand, "I will lead you to your lover."
***
"Draven!"
"Draven!"
Rhea’s voice continued to echo in his ears, and when he opened his eyes, he saw his wife anxiously hovering over him. With a concerned expression, she gently tapped his chest to wake him. He had suffered a heavy fall from the sky, hitting his head and losing consciousness. Rhea must have been extremely worried. As he reassured her that he was okay, she wrapped her arm around him and helped him into a sitting position.
Draven felt a pounding sensation in his head, as if there was a drum playing beats inside his brain. He reached up with both hands to hold his head and tried to steady himself.
"Are you hurt?" Rhea asked worriedly, "I have been searching for you everywhere, but thank goodness I found you here knocked out like some weakling."
Draven snapped his head towards Rhea as he heard the word weakling from her. But then he assured her softly, "I am fine." He looked around the black smoke, "I think we were pulled into a black magic spell. We have to look around for an opening or else I won’t be able to turn into my dragon form and fly us away from here."
Rhea nodded and looked around, she then pointed to the most darkened corner of the black vapors, "We should go that way, perhaps we will find an opening."
Draven looked towards the direction she pointed at, then he looked back at her face with a deep frown. He then chuckled softly, "There is no use for you to lure me into a trap, you can tell me directly, what do you want?"
Rhea was taken aback, "What do you mean?"
Draven dropped his head and smiled, "I am not striking you because you took on my wife’s appearance, but if you provoke me by saying things my wife would never say..." His blue eyes darkened, "I won’t hesitate to freeze you up regardless of what appearance you have on."
Rhea’s face immediately began to change, it slowly transformed into a hideous slimy black creature and began to crawl towards him. Effortlessly, Draven raised his hand and froze the creature before it crawled to him.
Draven rose from the ground. He needed to find Rhea before she fell into the illusion. He thought as he set off to search for his wife, but halted when he spotted Alina suspended in midair.
"Are you searching for that foolish girl?" She chuckled.
"Where is Rheanna?!" He asked coldly.
Alina evaded his question and commented, "You still love a human girl despite what I did to you two decades ago? You allowed yourself to love once more. You still haven’t grasped the lesson of not trusting any human." She sneered, "Aren’t you afraid that your beloved girl is conspiring with Azure to murder you?"
"Rheanna is nothing like you, Alina. You should cease this game of manipulation because no matter what you say, I will never believe you. Where is my wife?" He demanded once more.
Alina’s expression turned from amusement to grim, she hated the trust between the two. It seemed impossible to manipulate them. But thank goodness, everything would be over now. "You want your wife, don’t you?" She smirked devilishly, "I will give her to you." She waved her hand and immediately Rhea’s body was revealed hanging in midair. Her eyes were closed, and a big hole was carved in her chest, it was so deep that Draven couldn’t see anything but darkness. Her body was dripping with blood.
Draven’s eyes widened at the sight of his wife, "What...what did you do to her?!"
Alina mildly remarked, "When I captured her, she was with that darn fairy, let’s have her tell you what I did to your precious wife." With another wave of her hand, Lilac was thrown in front of Draven.
Draven was stunned and immobilized in place as he couldn’t bring himself to move a limb as the badly injured Lilac crawled to his feet weeping and trembling. "I am sorry, Mister. Myself tried to lead Rhea to you, but that evil woman captured us. She stabbed my savior in the chest and removed something from her. Mister, please save Rhea before she died completely!" Lilac pleaded in anguish.
Draven’s heart sank deep into his chest, and as everything was sinking in, he heard Alina’s voice again, "I have removed the core from her, the both of you will die in my spell!"
Draven clenched his fists and angrily looked up, but Alina disappeared and Rhea’s body began to fall down. He rushed over and caught her body into his arms before she could meet the unforgiving ground.
"Oh, darling, please." Draven knelt down with Rhea in his arms, her eyes were still tightly closed, and her breath was so faint he could barely sense them. He cupped her cheeks, a huge lump rising to his throat, "Rhea, please don’t do this to me. Wake up!" He shook her shoulders desperately, "I told you to stay at home but you insisted on coming, please open your eyes sweetheart!" He cried out with trembling voice.
But no matter how much he begged her to wake up, there was no response. She was dying without the core in her body.
Draven hugged her head to his chest, "I will bring you back, my love, I will bring you back." He muttered and gently placed her head down. There was only one way to bring her back, he had to give her his soul essence. She had to live. With those thoughts, Draven pressed a hand to her chest and closed his eyes to give her body life. By giving his soul essence to his wife, who was also his soulmate, he would go back to being a mere mortal like when he was being Jurian. His powers and dragon form would be unresponsive to him again. But it was worth it as long as his wife would live.
Draven began to transfer his essence into Rhea, he was fully engrossed in the task to the point where he failed to notice the Lilac behind him transforming into a slimy black creature. The creature, with its enormous mouth wide open as if ready to devour him, was abruptly hurled away by a force.
"Draven, stop what you’re doing!"
Lost in the illusion, Draven remained oblivious to his wife’s voice until he felt an arm wrap around his neck and a body fall onto his lap, causing him to lose his balance and fall backwards. With the person clinging tightly to his neck, he snapped back to reality and saw his wife looking down at him with a frown. Glancing over her chest, he observed that there was no wound nor any traces of blood, he even subconsciously used his hands to search for the large hole he had seen earlier on her chest.
Noticing her husband’s dazed and confused expression, Rhea leaned forward, took his lips between her teeth, and bit down gently. "Wake up, my love. It’s an illusion, I am alive," she whispered against his lips. When he failed to react, she bit down harder, causing him to grimace in pain and inhale sharply.
"Wake up." About to bite him again, Draven skillfully intercepted her mouth with a kiss. "I am awake!" he groaned against her lips, relief flooding through him that his wife was not dead. She was alive in his embrace. Overwhelmed by his relief, he poured his emotions into the kiss and tightened his hold around her waist.
